WHY SMCS?

We Have Been Turning Great Boys Into Good Men Since 1852.

Great gets all the glory. Good makes the world better.

St. Michael’s College School educates the whole boy. It is not enough to be the smartest. Or the best athlete.

The St. Michael’s boy learns to care for his community and its well-being.

The St. Michael’s boy must be a force for good in the world.

It’s good to be great. But it’s greater to BE THE GOOD.

GOOD PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE WORLD BETTER IS TO LEAN INTO EVERY DAY AND BE THE GOOD IN THE WORLD.

“Leo’s first year at St. Mike’s was more than we could have ever expected and from a parent’s perspective, the best decision we ever made for him. He has made so many new friendships and is eager to play on every sports team he can. Academically, Leo has flourished and we are so proud of him.” – SMCS Parent

STUDENT LIFE

“David’s first year at St. Michael’s has been nothing short of transformative. We’ve been greatly impressed with how the school fostered his growing independence—encouraging him to take initiative and ownership of his day-to-day responsibilities. He’s matured significantly both socially and academically. What truly stands out is the vibrant student life: from clubs to sports teams, David’s calendar has been full! Whether he’s on the field or collaborating in student-led activities, he's thriving in a well-rounded environment that challenges and inspires.”

– SMCS Parent

“When I really sit down and think back on my time at St. Mike’s, I don’t remember what I scored on a specific test or the exact score of a game. What I do remember though, are the moments, the feelings, and the experiences we shared.”

- MATTHEW KMECZ ’25

“St. Michael's College School helped shape me into the student-athlete I am today, preparing me for the University of Toronto. Athletically, my time with the track and field programme was transformative. The intense workouts with Mr. Bergin pushed my physical limits and helped to build discipline and perseverance that will be essential for university athletics. Aside from the physical training, the strong connection with my teammates created a unique bond through collaboration, shared goals, and mutual support, qualities that I hope to transfer to U of T.”

– TOBIAS SEALY ’25

DIVERSE ATHLETICS

The athletics programme features 19 different inter-school sports and fields more than 50 competitive teams. In addition to competitive sports, students also have the opportunity to participate in many different intramural sports offered throughout the year. Our goal is to develop character and leadership through excellence in athletics.

"The theatre programme is led by a team of amazing people who many don’t get to meet unless they’re involved in the arts. The programme offers opportunities to act, work backstage, or be in the booth using theatre equipment — all three being excellent experiences. Participating in both of the school’s largest arts programmes has been one of the best decisions of my life. I’m so glad to have spent these past four years with such beautiful people in such an amazing environment.” – JACOB SHAVER ’25

“Clubs at SMCS really helped me to find myself and engage with such a supportive community. I remember coming to St. Michael’s in Grade 7 as a shy kid who had trouble making friends and clubs really allowed me to connect with new people. Each club, no matter your interest, gives you a unique experience to learn and grow as both a student and a leader. Clubs and activities are core aspects of the SMCS experience and you are truly missing out if you don’t join at least a few!”  –

“The most important thing St. Mike’s taught me was faith. Through my experiences at the school, I now understand that if I put my all into controlling what I can control, God will do the rest. My relationship with God allows me to be comfortable in uncertainty.” - AJ IRVING ’24

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & LEARNING

Community engagement is a cornerstone of student life, rooted in our mission to develop young men of integrity, service, and faith. Students are encouraged to extend their learning beyond the classroom through meaningful connections with the broader community. Engagement opportunities range from local outreach programmes and social justice initiatives to global service trips and parish involvement, all designed to cultivate empathy, leadership, and a sense of responsibility. These experiences allow students to witness first-hand the impact of their contributions while deepening their understanding of diverse perspectives and societal challenges. By participating in community service, students not only support those in need but also grow spiritually and morally, fostering a lifelong commitment to serving others. At St. Michael’s College School, community engagement is not an obligation, it is a lived expression of our school’s Catholic values.
