A1: Description of Curriculum The curriculum that is going to be evaluated is Envision Mathematics Common Core by Savvas Learning Company. The content area that will be the focus is Mathematics, Grade 4. Upon completing one semester of the program, student collaborative performance will increase by 50 percent, which will be measured by participating in collaborative learning activities. Context: Need or Problem? A problem that lies within the Envision Mathematics Common Core Grade 4 curriculum is the limited explicit instruction and assessment of collaborative mathematical practices aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Mathematics. The curriculum does include partner, and group work but it does not actually provide scaffolded support for students to participate in significant collaboration, including defined group rules, guided peer discussion, or benchmarks for determining effective collaboration.
