Two specific communication styles I used during the meeting were assertive and passive communication. Assertively communicating with my team ultimately fostered a successful outcome and promoted clear and respectful interaction. Assertively communicating helped everyone express their thoughts, needs, and expectations clearly. It also allowed the team to address disagreements and concerns directly without aggression or passivity. This created an environment where working together was more effective and gave the ability to find mutually beneficial solutions. I expressed passive communication during the meeting by promoting a nonconfrontational, collaborative environment. The goal included providing harmony and facilitating listening and understanding as a leader and from the other teammates. It was important that I adapted my communication approach with each team member. Kay had somewhat of an aggressive communication style. When communicating with her, I had to remain calm but assertive. It was crucial not to respond emotionally or defensively to ensure she was ultimately heard and understood. There was a point in the meeting where Kay was rude. She interrupted and talked over another teammate. However, setting boundaries by confronting her actions and acknowledging Bo, the team member speaking ensured the tone was set; there would be no interrupting others or disrespect.
