We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found on this page or in the pew back in front of you. The Sunday News details lots of extra programs between Sundays, such as those offered by the Women of Saint Michael and the Men of Saint Michael. Tomorrow, we kick off a new season of Weekday Meditations. As we emphasize the importance or prayer this year, these meditations are an excellent way to incorporate prayer as a regular part of your day. Thousands have been listening, so why not try it this year?

Romans 14:1-12
Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarreling over opinions. Some believe in eating anything, while the weak eat only vegetables. Those who eat must not despise those who abstain, and those who abstain must not pass judgment on those who eat; for God has welcomed them. Who are you to pass judgment on servants of another? It is before their own lord that they stand or fall. And they will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make them stand. Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds. Those who observe the day, observe it in honor of the Lord. All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. Almighty and everliving God, who in thy holy Word hast taught us to make prayers, and supplications, and to give thanks for all men: Receive these our prayers which we offer unto thy divine Majesty, beseeching thee to inspire continually the Universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord; and grant that all those who do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and live in unity and godly love.
Give grace, O heavenly Father, to all bishops and other ministers, especially Sarah, Archbishop of Canterbury, Sean, our Presiding Bishop; and Rob, our Bishop; that they may, both by their life and doctrine, set forth thy true and lively Word, and rightly and duly administer thy holy Sacraments.

English composer Percy Whitlock studied with Ralph Vaughan Williams and Charles Villiers Stanford at the Royal College of Music in the early 20th century. His music retains many Romantic qualities from these teachers while displaying a distinctive style, using harmonies and forms more typical of the mid-to-late century. Whitlock paints the text somberly, closing with a calm, plaintive "Amen."

Please kneel as you are able. All are invited to come forward to the Communion rail at the direction of our ushers. Stand or kneel at the rail as you are able, and receive the wafer in the palm of your outstretched hands. If you desire a gluten-free wafer, clasp your hands in front of you with your palms down. Receive the wine by drinking from the chalice as it is offered to you, or by retaining the wafer, to dip lightly into the chalice for yourself. If you are not receiving, you may cross your arms over your chest and receive a blessing. If you are unable to physically come to the rail, please indicate to an usher that you would like to receive Communion at your seat. Richard Lloyd's "View Me, Lord" sets a prayer by seventeenth-century poet Sir Thomas Campion—a quiet plea for God's guidance, mercy, and protection, expressed with humility and trust. Lloyd's lyrical writing and warm harmonies let the words unfold naturally, creating a reflective anthem suited to prayer and contemplation.
