The Holy Communion This setting of Psalm 117 forms part of Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, written for Salzburg Cathedral in 1780. The psalm’s two verses are set very simply for solo soprano; the choir gently echos her melody in the Gloria Patri, and the soprano re-enters to sing a richlyornamented final “Amen”–the only moment when all voices join together.

This year, we adjust how we offer the special Sunday night service of Choral Compline. We will now have this meditative, candlelit service only 5 times a year for in person attendance. For each in-person service, we’ll have candle light, a priest officiant, processions, incense, and a reception following. Our Choral Compline lasts just under 30 minutes and is entirely sung—no spoken words or musical instruments. It’s a wonderful way to conclude the weekend in peace and quiet. Mark your calendar and invite someone who doesn’t regularly go to church!
The Acolyte Corps of Saint Michael is composed of 200+ parishioners who assist at services and on special occasions (Baptisms, Confirmations, Weddings, and Funerals). Yearly activities include training sessions and several social events.
