As I reflect on today’s scripture readings, I think of our call to use our unique gifts to spread ev. , Dr ata r i . Ch faith, hope, and love in the world. ristopher D. JOIN US IN WORSHIP
The Holy Spirit is moving all around us, and as we celebrate our nation this July Fourth weekend, we are invited once again to respond to God’s call. At its best, America represents a chance for all people, regardless of their background, to pursue their hopes and dreams. This ideal has been articulated in countless ways, but none stick with me as much as the words beneath the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free… Send these, the homeless, tempesttost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” The call to love God and our neighbor is part of our national fabric, and although we have work to do, hope remains. Psalm 33 says, “We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.” Indeed, our great hope is in God’s amazing love. As we celebrate this weekend, my prayer is for the courage to continue to do what we can, together, to move our nation toward God’s perfect love. In worship, we are united in our differences as we glorify God. I’m very pleased to announce that beginning today, we will once again be able to share the bread and the wine in all our

The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
