Dear Friends, November is a month of thanksgiving, and we give thanks for all the blessings in our lives! There are many ways to give thanks, including through service to others. Two of our signature Christmas ministries have launched this month: I Believe In Angels and Heart of Giving. Volunteers will be in the hallways today and each Sunday to help you participate in these great ministries. In addition, we are sponsoring an Advent project that begins the weekend after Thanksgiving. We’re asking everyone in the church to pick up a bag while you’re on campus and gather supplies to help our neighbors through North Dallas Shared Ministries. We’re also continuing our pledge drive to support the expansion of our ministries in 2022. I want you to join the hundreds of households who have already pledged their support and join us in our shared mission. Make a gift online or use one of the pledge cards located in the pews and around the church building to support the work of expanding the power and love of Christ here at Saint Michael. A reminder that we have wonderful classes every Sunday and throughout the week for all ages. Information about Sunday classes can be found on our website and in the back of your bulletin. Every priest stands day after day at his service, offering again and again the same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, “he sat down at the right hand of God,” and since then has been waiting “until his enemies would be made a footstool for his feet.” For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds,” he also adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. “I will sing” is a movement from Mendelssohn’s oratorio St. Paul, a major work for choir, orchestra, and soloists which outlines the life of St. Paul. The movement we hear today is placed near the beginning of the second half of St. Paul, which focuses on the mission of Paul and Barnabas.
