I am so pleased that we will be welcoming parishioners back to the pews of our Re , v. D a church today! We have been t ir a r. C hristopher D. G connecting digitally with so many each week, but we have been closed to physical worshippers on Sunday mornings for more than six months. I’ve been praying hard that infection rates remain stable or decline in our community, and so far, they have. Most of you will continue to worship digitally, and I am so grateful that our technology allows us to stay connected with you that way. For those of you who plan to join us in person, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with our online reservation system and the process of moving through the building to keep everyone safe. The online reservation system is as simple as we could make it and even those who were initially anxious about going through our site found it easy. If you have any trouble or questions, our parish receptionists are ready and willing to talk you through the process until you are confident on your own. Tonight, we also welcome back our beautiful Compline service. Compline is an ancient church service that is prayed at the end of the day before retiring for the night. This simple service typically lasts less than thirty minutes and has always meant a lot to me. At Saint Michael, Compline is sung in the flicker of candlelight by a stunning group of dedicated singers. I invite you to tune in digitally or join us live beginning this Sunday and continuing each week through the school year. Watch this video to learn more about our Compline service. BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS October 4 | 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. | West Parking Lot
From kittens to chickens, guppies to puppies, our clergy will be blessing all pets great and small. This free event celebrating the Feast of St. Francis is open to the entire community, so come and enjoy this wonderful annual Saint Michael and All Angels tradition. A short liturgy will be led by the clergy followed by individual pet blessings. Each pet will receive a lovely St. Francis medallion for their pet collar. Masks required and social distancing enforced.

LIMITED REOPENING BEGINS 9/27: With permission from the Diocese, a limited number of people may attend livestream worship on Sunday at 9 A.M. (Traditional), 11 A.M. (Contemporary), and 8 P.M. (Compline). Attendees must be symptom-free, remain distanced from other households, and wear a mask at all times. Entrance will be from the north side of the building and includes a brief screening. While Eucharist will be celebrated at 9 A.M. and 11 A.M., those wishing to receive consecrated bread should go to Saint Michael Chapel on Sunday between 12:30 P.M. – 1:30 P.M. Free Sunday worship tickets available each Monday at 10 AM CDT on a firstcome, first-serve basis at saintmichael.org/worshiptickets. Note: If Highland Park Public Schools return to online-only instruction, we must discontinue attendance at livestream worship and restrict the number of people entering the building.

Presentation Hymn Hymn 380, v. 3 “Praise God, from whom all blessings flow”
Sir William H. Harris lived and worked through the first three quarters of the twentieth century. He held several prominent positions, including on the faculty of the Royal College of Music and as organist at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Harris’s music is harmonically conservative in comparison to that of many of his peers in the 20th century, and quickly found a place in the canon of Anglican repertoire. This morning’s virtual anthem presents a meditation on a text originally written for All Saints’ Day. It features soaring melodies, luscious harmonic shifts, and simple but profound text setting. Our Choristers learned this piece during last month’s virtual chorister camp.

For the past six months, in-person gatherings have been strictly limited by government and church authorities due to COVID-19. Now, with the permission of from our governing bodies, Saint Michael is pleased to begin offering limited in-person opportunities for worship and communion. If you and your household are well, we look forward to your presence among us. Our present in-person worship offerings include our three Sunday services and Distribution of Communion. There are limited spots for each engagement, and safety measures have been enacted to ensure the protection of all who join us.
IN-PERSON WORSHIP (LIMITED SEATS AVAILABLE) Offered every Sunday at our 9 a.m. Traditional, 11 a.m. Contemporary, and 8 p.m. Compline services. Reserve tickets for your household at saintmichael.org/worshiptickets. Each Sunday Saint Michael will admit a limited number of attendees to each of our three worship services. We invite all who desire to attend worship in-person to join us with members of your household. As there is limited assigned seating for each service, you must register your household online beforehand to attend. Tickets to each service are available on a first-come, first-served basis one week at a time beginning on Monday mornings. No one will be admitted without a ticket. Livestreams and video recordings of our weekly services remain available so that all can watch and participate. Visit saintmichael.org/live to tune in. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: Tickets will be available one week at a time beginning on Mondays for the upcoming Sunday. Return to this webpage each week and click the button below to reserve your tickets. For your safety, the following protocols must be followed while on-site: •

No coffee or congregating in the church after the service has concluded. The people will exit out the main sanctuary door immediately after the service.
