Today, we will officially welcome Chanta Bhan, Associate for Mission and Re , v. D a Outreach, into our parish t ir a r. C hristopher D. G family with a special prayer moment marking the beginning of our shared ministry. This gives us the opportunity to honor her arrival and recommit ourselves to the work we share. Chanta has been in the office for two weeks and has hit the ground running. As the staff leader for M&O, she will work with Christi Morrow, our M&O Coordinator, our M&O Committee, co-chaired by Bob Campbell and Zoe Hart, and many groups doing excellent service inside and outside our community. As she transitions to life at Saint Michael, I encourage you to get to know her. You may read her bio on our website, send her a note, and above all, please keep her in your prayers. In addition to Chanta’s welcome, we are continuing to look ahead to the new school year. We have online formation opportunities for all ages, as well as a new Fall Resource Guide with information on all our programs, classes, and more. We are also beginning to collect nominations for our elected leadership, including the Vestry and Diocesan Convention Delegates. SAINT MICHAEL CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING! While we’re not gathering in large groups in the church building, we are gathering in small groups outside of the church walls: saintmichael.org/smallgroups, In addition, worship and formation are available online: saintmichael.org/live and saintmichael.org/liveformation. The church building is open for Distribution of Communion, Private Prayer, the Book Shop, and staff who need or wish to come in. Everyone should enter through the south side of the building on Colgate Avenue and be distanced, masked, and in groups of 10 or less. The elderly and vulnerable are encouraged to stay home. Outdoor committals and weddings continue to be the safest option, and numbers are not restricted as long as everyone is distanced and masked. Beginning September 1, in light of guidance from the Diocese, we will be able to accommodate up to 20 people (including church personnel) for committals, weddings, and baptisms in Saint Michael Chapel. Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.” When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said further, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
