We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found on this page or in the pew back in front of you. Our Welcome Team members are in the hallways today to help you with anything you need. We have such great enthusiasm throughout the church and I’m so glad you’re part of this vibrant community of faith. Please make sure you pick up a Sunday News handout this morning. It details lots of extra programs between Sundays, such as the upcoming Fall Family Day at the Farmers Market on Saturday, October 31. And parents, please note that Nativity Pageant auditions continue today for students in 3rd – 8th grade. Additionally, we are now in our annual Stewardship season when we ask everyone to make intentional commitments to discipleship growth through giving, service, and prayer. Please consider how you’d like to grow this year, and then make your pledge for growth today. As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!

Scan the QR Code to fill out the welcome card, sign up for emails, and register for Saint Michael 101.

Sequence Song: “Amazing Grace” (standing, sung by all)

The Lesson: (seated) Leviticus 19:1-2, 15-18 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them: You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy. You shall not render an unjust judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great: with justice you shall judge your neighbor. You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not profit by the blood of your neighbor: I am the LORD. You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD. Lector The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God. Welcome! Sanctus (sans Chords) The Gospel: (standing)

Matthew 22:34-46

Sanctus: (standing, sung by all)

Preacher The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew. People Glory to you, Lord Christ. When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them this question: “What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” He said to them, “How is it then that David by the Spirit calls him Lord, saying, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’? If David thus calls him Lord, how can he be his son?” No one was able to give him an answer, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions. Preacher The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise to you, Lord Christ. The Sermon: (seated)

Offertory Song: “Our Refuge” (seated, sung by the Contemporary Band) Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to another. Before the mountains were brought forth, and the land and earth were born, You called out all the stars by name; You are God from age to age!

Rooted in Christ we grow together in faith, fellowship, and service. Our generosity strengthens the community we share. Pledge Today.

Teach us to number all our days, for they quickly pass away. Lord bless the labor of our hands; give us grace to understand.
