Welcome to Christmas at Saint Michael and All Angels! I am so glad you’ve joined us for worship. Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus— the greatest gift to us all! Together, we are called to become the good news of Jesus. We are called to become the hands and feet of God’s love in the world. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found in the pew back in front of you. With God’s help, we can make the great promise of living a life of hope and love a reality. When we commit to one another in this church, the work we do at Saint Michael is more than good. The work we do at Saint Michael, the relationships we build, and the vision we carry bring us all closer to God’s kingdom on Earth, now. God’s promise is for you: God came to be with us and God walks with us each day. In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom

he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Peter Warlock
Peter Warlock’s “Benedicamus Domino” is a vibrant choral miniature that blends early music influences with modern harmonic color. Written in 1927 for unaccompanied choir, the piece sets the traditional Latin text meaning “Let us bless the Lord.” Warlock combines lively rhythmic energy and clear contrapuntal writing reminiscent of Renaissance polyphony with distinctly 20thcentury harmonies. Despite its brevity, the work displays clarity of texture, bold tonal shifts, and festive spirit, making it a choral favorite for its concise brilliance and exuberant character.

All are invited to come forward to the Communion rail at the direction of our ushers. Stand or kneel at the rail as you are able, and receive the wafer in the palm of your outstretched hands. If you desire a gluten-free wafer, clasp your hands in front of you with your palms down. Receive the wine by drinking from the chalice as it is offered to you, or by retaining the wafer, to dip lightly into the chalice for yourself. If you are not receiving, you may cross your arms over your chest and receive a blessing. Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood.
