We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today. Our Welcome Team members are in the hallways today to help you with anything you need. Our new Sunday classes are in full swing, so please look at the back of your bulletin to see the schedule of Sunday classes for all ages that meet during the 10 a.m. hour. There are many to choose from, so I hope you’ll find one that fits your needs. In addition to our Sunday classes, please make sure you pick up a Sunday News handout. The Sunday News details lots of extra programs between Sundays, such as those offered by the Women of Saint Michael and the Men of Saint Michael. One special offering happens tonight: Our first Choral Compline service of the new year happens tonight at 7 p.m. in the church. Choral Compline is led by a stunning group of sacred singers and is a true gift to all those who attend. Treat yourself to a gift of sacred music tonight! As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!

Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and undergo great suffering at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. You are a stumbling block to me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.” Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life?
