Today, we celebrate by offering blessings upon students, teachers, and staff who are going back to school. We’ve also launched our new Sunday classes. Please look at the back of your bulletin to see the schedule of Sunday classes for all ages that meet during the 10 a.m. hour. There are many to choose from, so I hope you’ll find one that fits your needs. I promise you will find our classes to be a great gift to you. As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!

The flowers adorning the altar are given to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for the baptism of Elin Jaynes. Bach's six Trio Sonatas, BWV 525–530, likely served to teach Wilhelm Friedemann hand-and-foot independence, each adopting an Italianate trio texture—two treble voices in the hands, independent bass in the pedal. BWV 526's second movement, a soulful Largo, unfolds ornamented lines over a walking bass with arialike tenderness. Children ages three through eight are invited to proceed to children’s chapel by exiting through the east doors at the back of the nave; they will return to the nave following the Peace.

Let us join with those who are committing themselves to Christ and renew our own baptismal covenant.
Celebrant Do you believe in God the Father? People I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Celebrant Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? People I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. Celebrant Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? People I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Thanksgiving over the Water Celebrant People Celebrant People
The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Celebrant
We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation. Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In it your Son Jesus received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life.
We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who are cleansed from sin and born again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Savior.
To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Thomas Tallis, one of the most esteemed English composers of the 16th century, served in the Chapel Royal from 1543 until his death in 1585. “If Ye Love Me,” published in 1565, is a hallmark of early Anglican church music, reflecting the Reformation’s emphasis on textual clarity and accessibility. Set in English and composed in a graceful, mostly homophonic style, the anthem allows each word to be clearly heard, aligning with the liturgical ideals of the time. Its serene simplicity and spiritual intimacy make it a lasting example of Tallis’s mastery.

All are invited to come forward to the Communion rail at the direction of our ushers. Stand or kneel at the rail as you are able, and receive the wafer in the palm of your outstretched hands. If you desire a gluten-free wafer, clasp your hands in front of you with your palms down. Receive the wine by drinking from the chalice as it is offered to you, or by retaining the wafer, to dip lightly into the chalice for yourself. If you are not receiving, you may cross your arms over your chest and receive a blessing. If you are unable to physically come to the rail, please indicate to an usher that you would like to receive Communion at your seat. This final movement returns to C minor, closing the set with the same contrapuntal brilliance that defines it—independent lines in constant dialogue across manuals and pedal. Its quick exchanges showcase the chamber-music clarity Bach's trio sonatas demand, driven by Italian concerto energy absorbed from Vivaldi. As a postlude, it offers a bright, celebratory send-off.
