We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found on this page or in the pew back in front of you. Our Welcome Team members are in the hallways today to help you with anything you need. We have officially kicked off the new school year! Today, we celebrate by offering blessings upon students, teachers, and staff who are going back to school. We’ve also launched our new Sunday classes. Please look at the back of your bulletin to see the schedule of Sunday classes for all ages that meet during the 10 a.m. hour. There are many to choose from, so I hope you’ll find one that fits your needs. I promise you will find our classes to be a great gift to you. As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!

Celebrant Will you be responsible for seeing that the child you present is brought up in the Christian faith and life? Sponsor I will, with God’s help.

Celebrant Will you by your prayers and witness help this child to grow into the full stature of Christ? Sponsor I will, with God’s help. Celebrant Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that rebel against God? Sponsor I renounce them. Celebrant We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation. Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In it your Son Jesus received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life.

We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him

in faith, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who are cleansed from sin and born again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Savior. All baptized persons of any age regardless of their denomination and tradition are welcome to share in the banquet of the Lord’s Supper.

The Celebrant prays the preface of the day. The Celebrant now praises God for the salvation of the world through Jesus Christ our Lord.

At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it, or to lay a hand upon it; and at the words concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing wine to be consecrated.

On the night he was betrayed he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” After supper, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
