At Saint Michael, we have a cherished tradition of giving 100% of our undesignated Easter offerings to outreach efforts—locally, nationally, and internationally. This year, the Mission and Outreach Committee has chosen to support ministries that promote “celebrating the Lord’s resurrection with hope and help.” Your generous gifts will be shared among the following organizations:

The Visiting Nurse Association’s, “Katherine’s House,” opening in Dallas in 2027, will be North Texas’s first assisted-living home for seriously ill people without housing, caregivers, or resources, offering a five-bedroom residence with 24-hour care and hospice support.

Formed after the July 4 Kerr County floods, Help and Hope for the Hill Country provides long-term recovery support through financial aid, relief supplies, volunteer coordination, and pastoral care for families and first responders.

The Holy Spirit Episcopal School Scholarship Fund provides partial scholarships to help ensure access to strong bilingual education, empowering students with the academic foundation and skills needed to thrive following their graduation.

We join with Christians around the world to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of God’s promise! You are part of the big Saint Michael family—thousands strong—who are becoming part of God’s holy work in the world, witnessing to the gift of Christ who loves us so completely that death itself is defeated. All of us join with old friends and welcome new friends in this joyfilled celebration.

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, I encourage you to join us in our mission and ministry. Here at Saint Michael, we celebrate resurrection with a strong sense of hope for our future. Our world can often feel uncertain, and sometimes even scary, but we move confidently into the future with God’s help. We are more aware of the needs in our world than ever before, and we are also more aware of our ability to help when we act with the love of Christ. I hope that all of us come to God’s table today with gratitude for our gifts and with a passionate commitment to our discipleship. We have been called by God, and now that sacred call as followers of Christ compels us to fulfill God’s love now.

Easter is a gift to each of us, an invitation to renew our commitment to one another and to the world God loves. Today, I am even more grateful to travel the way of Christ with you as part of our Saint Michael family. May this beautiful Easter celebration fill you with the power of the resurrection and uplift you this day and forever!

You are our resurrection to new life, O God. You are our hope, guide, counselor, and deliverer. In the midst of fear and uncertainty in our world and in our lives and when the powerless and vulnerable of the world are overwhelmed by mighty forces recall us to our true source of help, restoration and reconciliation.

Awaken us again to your loving presence within us and beyond us. Awaken us again to hope and the pure freedom of serving you and your children, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Martin Baker’s “O filii et filiae” is a choral setting of the 15th-century French Easter hymn. A British composer and organist, Baker infuses the traditional chant with modern choral textures, creating a vibrant yet reverent celebration of Christ’s resurrection. Often performed at Easter services, his arrangement balances tradition with freshness.

The Great Thanksgiving: Eucharistic Prayer II (standing)

It is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God.

But chiefly are we bound to praise thee for the glorious resurrection of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for he is the very Paschal Lamb, who was sacrificed for us, and hath taken away the sin of the world; who by his death hath destroyed death, and by his rising to life again hath won for us everlasting life.

Therefore with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and singing,

During the season of Easter, we return to the practice of the early church and stand during the Prayer of Consecration and the Post-Communion Prayer. You may also stand to receive Communion at the altar rail.

Ralph Vaughan Williams composed O Clap Your Hands in 1920 for choir and organ, setting verses from Psalm 47. Written just after the First World War, the anthem reflects both public celebration and a renewed interest in English sacred music. The work opens with bold, rhythmic energy that captures the psalm’s call to joyful praise. Contrasting sections provide broader, more expansive lines before returning to triumphant declamation. Characteristic of Vaughan Williams’s style, the music blends strong choral writing with rich harmonies and a confident sense of structure, making it a vivid and enduring anthem of praise.
