COLLEGE COUNSELING
The Susan and Joseph Pichler ‘57 Fund for College Counseling was established in 2023 as an endowed fund whose earnings support Faculty and Academic Excellence through the SLUH College Counseling program.

The College Counseling Department partners with families each year through evening and weekend programs, engages students over four years through the advisory program, and meets individually with students during their junior and senior years.

• Evening Sessions for Parents/Students on:
- College and Financial Aid
- Sophomore Conversation with parents/ student/faculty member

- College Essay Writing & Brainstorming
- College Applications
• 1- on -1 Senior College Check-In Meetings
• Advising on scholarship application submissions
College counseling supports students in preparing for college and life beyond by helping them understand the admissions process, apply to the best of their abilities and navigate the increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving college landscape.
’24 - ’25 HIGHLIGHTS
• Upgraded the application and college research tools provided to every family with a new contract through Maia Learning
• Tim Wilmes ’10, a former admissions counselor at Xavier University, is the newest addition to SLUH’s four-member College Counseling team
• Instituted a series of summer essay writing workshops for rising seniors
• Completed college cost research project helping students and parents understand likely financial outcomes ahead of time
CLASS OF 2025 OUTCOMES
• 98% of graduates planning to attend 4 year colleges this Fall
• ’25 graduates applied to 229 individual institutions and were accepted at 192.
• ’25 graduates have enrolled in 79 unique institutions (60% out-of-state)
• Notable Acceptances: Harvard, Stanford, Dartmouth, Brown, Croft Institute for Global Studies (Univ. Miss.), Northwestern, Harvey Mudd, Air Force Academy and U.S. Military Academy
• One Questbridge Full Scholarship Match - Washington U. STL
• National Merit Finalists - 9
