Ron Eisenberg and Steve Brady, who run the marathon training group, ran a 3:22 and 3:37, respectively. Ron Golan, who had just finished a 50-mile race a week before, ran 3:55. James Woolridge had double accomplishments; on Saturday he took third overall in the 5K, and on Sunday he placed 21st overall in the half marathon, time of 1:26:24. Brian Kratz I have been a Track Club member since 1998. I have run four marathons, 25+ half marathons, lots and lots of shorter distance races. I was able to put on a 10K in Mosul, Iraq, in 2004 from everything I had learned from volunteering at SLTC events. I have been retired from the US Army since 2008 and have worked at Boeing for over 15 years. My favorite SLTC event is the Frostbite series, as it gets me out during those cold winter days. I also used the marathon training group to run a 3:28 marathon and qualify for Boston. Not only do I support the club by participating in numerous club races every year, but I also frequently volunteer at SLTC events. I service the club in a variety of aspects, including directing traffic at races, supervising at packet pick up and even helping clean up after a race. I am dedicated to the benefits of running races, participating as a volunteer, and developing a positive running community in the club. I am enthusiastic and supportive of the track club and its mission.
larly until I moved to St. Louis from Kansas. Since then, I have completed many events including marathons and trail running! Since moving to St. Louis in 2010, I have found almost all my connections to the St. Louis community through running. I discovered and joined the Track Club during a first Frostbite Series (2010-11). I was so motivated and excited about my first series that I even changed previously made plans to complete it.
Justin Frederick I wanted to take a moment to write a little bit about why I am interested in serving on the Board of Directors for the St. Louis Track Club.
I would love to be part of the board to bring my unique perspective; someone who never really enjoyed physical activities until 25 and discovered a passion for running at age 30. I also love how much our sport brings us together out on the roads and trails. It is important for me to give back to my community and to become civically engaged. I think this works best when you find something that compliments a passion you already have.
I do not have a typical athletic background. I began running off and on in 2007. I quit smoking that year and thought I would try running out to celebrate my new, healthier lifestyle. In 2009, I ran my first 2 races (5k & half marathon). I enjoyed it, but did not find myself running regu-
Running has truly become a passion for me, and I would love the opportunity to share that passion with others. I also see the SLTC as a way to welcome new people to our city (as a transplant this was important to me) every day, whether that be as a new resident or to the sport of running and

walking to someone who already lives here. I, as a member, am very happy with the current direction the organization is heading and would love to assist in future change, growth, and development, including learning more about the behind the scenes work that goes into race management, partnerships, and community building, such as maintaining a healthy attendance at social events & runs. I would be excited to be part of the group that creates the next chapter of the SLTC history. Thank you for your consideration.

enjoy running, volunteering, putting on races and just talking with folks who share the same passion. I would like to serve again on the board to keep this great Track Club moving forward. My wife, Erin, and my 2 sons (Luca, 5, and Killian, 2) live in St. Charles, though my friends will say I have a 2nd home at the Forest Park Visitors Center. Rae Mohrmann An SLTC member for more than 25 years, I was also a board member in the mid ‘90s. I have the opportunity to give back as a SLTC volunteer and race director, volunteer and Ambassador for GO! STL and a member of the Michelob Running Team. very reluctantly. After completing the Grandma’s Marathon on June 19, 1999, I was hooked on this crazy sport. Since then, running has been a very important part of my life. I have enjoyed watching my son (Jon) and daughter (Elena) run cross country in high school and to see them both continue to race after college. My wife, Ilonka, and I have also completed races together, including the Hershey Half Marathon in Hershey, PA, (a must for all people who love chocolate). My running milestones over the past 15 years have included both running Boston with my son Jon and completing 50 marathon/ultra distance events before my 50th birthday. During this time, some of the greatest joy of this sport has come from mentoring and coaching first-time runners in completing a 5k, half marathon, and marathon distances. This is truly a sport that allows all of us to give back and encourage others to accomplish things they never imagined. I am looking forward to helping new runners and joining my friends and family out on the roads and trails for another 50 years!
Give back and volunteer at the Frostbite Series! The Frostbite Series starts on Dec. 12 and will be on alternating Saturdays through Feb. 6. The Frostbite Series is a challenging event, because there are usually 1,000+ participants, there are two distances for each event, and the distances range during the series from a 3k to half marathon. Volunteers are particularly important for this series, and we traditionally struggle to get the necessary help. Please consider help-
ing out! We need volunteers for set up and packet pick up, course marshals, water station, and the finish line on race day. We need inside and outside help, and you can volunteer for one Saturday or all of them. We are very flexible with scheduling. Please sign up directly online (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4ca4aa22a4fa7-20152016), contact Christy Polk at christy.polk@stlouistrackclub.com, or call the office at 314-7813926.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge 10-K Run
Recently, I ran the Chesapeake Bay 10-K run. This was very significant to me, as I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is an icon to Maryland – similar to the Arch in Saint Louis. For years, there was a 10K run over the Bay Bridge, but they discontinued it after 9/11. On Sunday, Nov. 8 it was held for the second year since it has been back. My hotel was on the eastern shore of the bay and we were shuttled from the eastern shore to the western shore where the start area was. The day was beautiful, 45 degrees and sunny. There were over 22,000 runners starting between 7 am and 10:30 am. I was in an early corral – 7:20. Not quite sure how I rated that good starting time! We took off and almost immediately were on the Bay Bridge running east. The sun was coming up over the horizon, and we were soon surrounded by nothing but water and a handful of sailboats. The view was amazing.

Thank you to our SLTC Half Marathon Volunteers! Thank you so much for volunteering for the 36th Annual St. Louis Track Club Half Marathon and Clayton Police 5K benefiting Special Olympics! We can’t make this day a success without your help and each and every one of you were instrumental in making that happen. We know your time is valuable and we appreciate you choosing to spend that time helping out with our event which raises vital funds for both the St. Louis Track Club and Special Olympics. It took over 150 volunteers to put on this great event for our almost 1,000 registered participants and we have heard so many positive comments about our helpful and enthusiastic volunteers. We are interested in your experience as a volunteer and encourage feedback from you. If you have a moment, please email me at Christy.polk@stlouistrackclub.com and let me know about your volunteer experience and any suggestions you have for volun-
teering or the races. We also hope you can join us for the SLTC Annual Awards Banquet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Favazza’s Rose of the Hill on Southwest Ave. We will honor the area’s top high school cross country runners as well as our volunteers, including our Volunteer of the Year. And if you would be interested in volunteering, running or walking the 37th Annual St Louis Half Marathon or Clayton Police 5K, please save the date for Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016.
