Common misconception - Windows can increase Daylight penetration
Windows cannot increase daylight penetrationinbuildingspace. The angular sunlight transmitted through windows creates a bright patch of light near the window concentrating all light energy at a spot. A bit away from the window, space would not be well lit. This is a common experience.
What is a Daylight panel?
Direct Sunlight from Glass HEAT + GLARE
It is optically structured sunlight deflection panel engineered to redirect incident sunlight from the window glass to the ceiling inside to a longdistance.
Such redirected sunlight penetrates deeper into the space bouncing of white colored ceilings, providing diffused daylight in the space.
Sunlight redirection panels can do away with conventional light shelves inside or outside the windows. Skyshade manufactures these panelsundertradenameofskyshelves.
Where do we fix Daylight panels for windows?
Sunlight redirection panels to be fixed over window glass frame, wood/aluminium from inside. They aretobefixedaboveeyesightlevel[1.5m-1.8m].
They can be fixed to window shades outside as wellifthewindowsareshaded.
In case of structurally glazed facades , they can be fixedtofrommulliontomullionofglazing.
How deep the light can reach inside?
The depth of sunlight reaching inside depends on sun elevation angle, height of panel and orientationofwindow.
Typically the reach on floor plate could be 8.0 m12.0mbasedonabovefactors.

How much floor area with daylight can be achieved with Daylight panels?
With windows on North & South, floor plate of 20.025.0 meters can have daylight. Approximately for every 100 Sq.m of floor area, 2.0 Sq.m panel on south side is required for good illumination of daylightinside.
What are the benefits using Daylight panels over windows?
Research studies have shown that Daylighting in work & living spaces is good for physical and psychological health of building users. Health benefits of building occupants should outweigh all other benefits and considerations.
