Hello Rebels :D The Savvy Sun's third issue is here! I hope your summer is going well. And you've made new friends through our July social and volunteer events. Firstly, let me thank all readers for your support since the first issue and our LTG Sania for recognizing me as the Division's Officer of the Month❤🌞 This honor motivates me to keep growing better every day! In this issue, you will be able to check out the recap of a region-wide event - Beach Boomba as well as service and social events where we collaborated with other clubs within the division. Since this issue, we will have a new section called “Deeper with Board” where we have some questions for each board member to know deeper about them! And lastly, don’t forget to check out the recognition and calendar at the end :)) Enjoy💛

message What is Poppin Rebels?! 🤩😎 Another month has passed, and that only means one thing; a new issue of The Savvy Suns is out ☀! I thoroughly enjoyed July as I had camp and other hangouts, and I hope that whatever you did in July was enjoyable too!!! 🥰 July was another fantastic month for Savanna Key Club💯! I can’t describe how happy I was to see Savanna get recognized as D30S Shining club of the month at beach boomba 🤩🤩🤩; it means so much to see people participate in the events we hold, and as repetitive as it sounds, I appreciate you all for helping Savanna get this achievement 💛💛. I also want to give a HUGE congratulations to my lovely news editor Nancy Le for getting D30S OFFICER OF THE MONTH at Beach Boomba 🤝. She works so hard and she really deserved that award. 🥰 I enjoyed overseeing all the events this past month as well; the plushie picnic was, while silly, a really cool inter-division event, the Riverbed Renewable Farm event was fun as well as I got to play with the really cute dogs and cat at the farm, but Beach Boomba was BY FAR the most fun event of the month for me. It was my first and last beach boomba, but seeing so many Savanna attendees and doing all the activities were a thrill. I’ll talk to you guys next time, and I hope you enjoy the July edition of The Savvy Suns! 🔑☀💛

03|RIVERBED RENEWABLE FARM SERVICE EVENT
July 18, 2022 On Monday, July 18th I, along with 2 other volunteers went to the riverbed Renewable Farm. We arrived at 9AM, and this was not my first time here, so I looked around to see if anything had changed, and then John, who was the worker there, showed us how to prune tomato plants, which was actually a lot better to do than when I did it 6 months ago. We spent the majority of the time pruning tomato plants, which is basically cutting some branches from the tomato plants that are not needed or are dead. The farm is really small, so we did not feel rushed, and when we did finish we were able to pet the cats, and then John showed us some bins with worms to make compose, which he would give/sell to people who may need it. There were other volunteers from another organization so not much had to be done because of all the help. At around 1PM we sat on a swing and were able to talk to John about the farm, and other things, and we left. This was a short event, but also very fun. I got to see fish, cats, sadly no River(a dog I had seen before), chickens, and ducks. Overall, this was an event I would like to do again because we were able to do many different things there, and it's not too big. By Ulises Ceja Castrejon|Publicist
PLUSHIE PICNIC SOCIAL EVENT|04
July 15, 2022 After arriving at the park, I saw that there were a lot more people than I expected which was flattering. I signed in and then I met a girl named Halimah. And I thought she was cool; she was nice and we have a lot in common. The first activity we did after everyone arrived was an icebreaker. We had to write 3 facts anonymously on a card, and the instructor gave everyone a card with someone else's facts. Everyone went around trying to find whose card they had. Mine was someone who's a pro Roblox basketball player. I liked this icebreaker compared to the other ones I've done in the past. I managed to talk to new people I didn't know and met someone new, and so I felt accomplished. After this, clubs came with drinks and food that you could buy while making paper cranes or other origami stuff. I bought myself a spam musubi and milk tea boba, and it was good. Moving on, I didn't know how to make a crane so I made a heart; it didn't turn out great, but president Hani said he'll accept it anyways. After that, people continued to hang out and talk to each other. I'm surprised that I went to an event like that but overall I had fun. By Joelle Kim | Member
05|BEACH BOOMBA/ JULY DCM
July 23, 2022 July DCM was held at Huntington Beach on Saturday the 23rd. There, I was astounded by how many Key Club members there were from various schools across OC. Beach Boomba is one of the first DCMs that I have attended. The check-in was extremely easy, although I was a tad late. After that, the members were separated into groups. In those groups, we had to work together to complete a relay race. My group and I conversed a lot, which aided us when deciding who was going to do what. Once the relay race was over, we worked on service events. It was pretty enjoyable to be able to create kind messages on popsicle sticks and dog toys. I cannot leave out the weird, but funny, skit that some of the LTGs put together. It was more informational than I expected. By this time, it was extremely hot, but we were given many breaks and opportunities to hydrate. Although it was prohibited for members to swim in the water, I still went for a bit. The games that Key Club put on were also very fun. We had the chance to fundraise while having fun, by pie-ing the lieutenant governors. In the end, we cleaned up our area, and the LTGs thanked everyone for their participation. Overall, this event was diverting. It was a well-planned DCM- from the date/weather to the itinerary. I will be sure to attend as many DCMs as I can in the future, as this one was a great first experience. By Amanda Hernandez|Service Chair

President What are you looking forward to in the term? I want to take some fire pictures with all the Region 3 divisions' merch at Fall Rally South.
3 fun facts about you 1. A Tesla crashed into me while I was riding back from the bike repair shop 2. I have a 100% win rate at Knott's games and have always picked squishmallows as prizes. 3. My 11th/12th grade math teacher followed me on instagram.
Why did you join the club? Joined for the service, stayed for the abgs (but fr just to make friends and see ppl outside of school).
Hobbies outside the club I listen to music a lot (in my Future era rn), I love to bake (especially cream puffs and tres leches cakes), and I like playing video games (COD zombies games are my favorite but Genshin/ Minecraft are my guilty pleasures).

Hobbies outside the club Outside of the club I play water polo and I am currently a lifeguard!
Why did you join the club? I joined the club because of all the fun service opportunities and social events! I thought it would be a great way to leave my comfort zone, meet new people, and better my community.

Hobbies outside the club I do sports, I draw, and sometimes i practice furniture refurbishment.

SEA OF SERVICE | DCON 2023 The upcoming theme for the District Convention 2023 is Sea of Service. DCON will be held at Ontario Convention Center from April 21 to April 23.
CNH will have a different theme of service every month. Check out CNH’s Instagram to see the themes for the term!
