Crossmatching Service Update
Clinical Labs has upgraded our national crossmatching support capabilities so we can provide better outcomes for patients and more convenience for doctors.
30 DAYS 7 DAYS
For patients who are not pregnant or have not been recently transfused:
Clinical Labs is increasing the time a patient’s blood sample can still be used for crossmatching from 7 days to 30 days, should a patient require blood transfusion.
For pregnant patients:
In line with major obsetric hospitals, we are increasing the time a sample can be used for crossmatching for pregnant patients from 72 hours to 7 days.
Important:
You MUST notify your local Clinical Labs blood bank on 1300 134 111 in the lead up to the procedure if your patient:
• Becomes pregnant after sample collection
• Receives a transfusion after sample collection
