A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTORMISS SAM
I’m so excited to welcome back all our returning SJ Dance students and to meet the beautiful new faces joining our family this year. You’ll often find me in the studio teaching, popping into classes to say hello, around reception, or working upstairs in the office.
A little about me: my favorite color is aqua, I’m a proud mum to two children, Wyatt (3) and Aurora (1). My favourite dance style is commercial jazz What truly brings me joy is inspiring and motivating the next generation of dancers to chase their dreams, step outside their comfort zone, build in their confidence, and feel at home here at SJ Dance.
I am so excited for what’s to come this year! Our studio has missed all of you during the break.
Parking Reminder
As a friendly reminder, we only have four allocated parking spaces at the studio. Please avoid parking in our Neighbours business car parks until their businesses have closed for the day. This helps us maintain positive relationships with our Neighbours. Street parking is available nearby, and we truly appreciate your cooperation

Students will learn a new combination each week, work on corner drills, and have the chance to perform their routine to classmates at the end of class. It’s a fun, dynamic environment perfect for building confidence and enjoying the joy of dance!
✨ Technique Development and Conditioning Class
This class is all about flexibility, technique, strength, and conditioning. Using methods such as IDT, the Godfrey Method, and custom programs developed by our talented teachers, students will refine their skills in turns, jumps, leaps, and overall technical performance It’s a must for dancers looking to elevate their abilities!
✨ Acro Classes – Now in Levels
Our Acro classes are now divided into levels to better suit each student’s abilities. We’ll be conducting assessments during Week 1 and Week 2, and we’ll be in touch if any changes are needed to your child’s level or schedule to best support their progress.

DANCE AND SCHOOL THIS YEAR DANCE AND SCHOOL THIS YEAR
As we head into the new year, we know it’s an exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) time for both our students and parents Starting a new school year while coming back to dance can feel like a big adjustment, but we ’ re here to help! Here are some tips to help make the first week back smooth, fun, and positive for everyone.
1. Create a Routine
Getting into a routine early helps ease those first-week jitters. Plan out your week, including school, homework, meals, and dance classes. Knowing what’s coming next makes everything feel more manageable.
Pro Tip: Pack your dance bag the night before with everything you need for class —shoes, water bottle, and uniform. Being prepared feels amazing!
2. Set Small Goals
New beginnings are the perfect time to set goals, both for school and dance. These don’t have to be big! At school, it might be something like raising your hand in class once a day. At dance, maybe it’s working on one skill, like a leap or pirouette, to improve over the term. Celebrate your progress along the way, it’s all about growth!
3. Give Yourself Grace
Starting something new can feel scary, and that’s okay! It’s normal to feel nervous when stepping into a new class or meeting new people. Remember, every student in the studio has been in your shoes before. Be kind to yourself, and don’t be afraid to ask for help
4. Stay Hydrated / energized
With busy days ahead, it’s important to keep your body fueled. Pack healthy snacks for between school and dance classes, and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Feeling energized will help you stay focused and confident!
5. Remember, You’re Part of a Family
At SJ Dance, we ’ re more than just a studio, we ’ re a family. Whether you ’ re nervous about your first class or feeling overwhelmed by school, we ’ re here for you. Come say hi at reception, ask your teachers for advice, or chat with a classmate.
 Samantha’s Reminder: Samantha’s Reminder:
“This studio is your second home. We’re all here to “This studio is your second home. We’re all here to support and cheer you on!” support and cheer you on!” You’ve Got This! You’ve Got This!
