MAY OBSERVANCES
DAY DIRECTORS
May is a busy month for observances! Maybe it is because it is getting warmer and spring is in full swing. It also could be because “may” is frequently used to express a wish or hope for something, particularly a positive outcome or blessing. May celebrates Military Appreciation, Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage, and Jewish American Heritage. These are all month long observances, although this certainly should not be the only time we think about them! Observances help us to preserve cultural identity and bring awareness to the diversity of our communities. They help us to grow together and individually. As we welcome this month, may you be happy, may you have courage , may you be well, and may you be filled with loving kindness! “Join the Community: the wolf snatches only the stray sheep that wanders off from the flock” JEWISH PROVERB
“The soldier is the army. No army is better than its soldiers. The soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country.” GENERAL GEORGE S. PATTON JR.
