I hope many of you had the opportunity to enjoy the San Jose Yacht Club Mixer It was a wonderful event and a great way to celebrate the rich history of our Club
I would also like to recognize Brittany Williams, Director of Catering; Amy Lovett, Banquet Manager; Michael Ayers, Executive Chef and their entire teams for a tremendous first quarter. From weddings to member events and club functions, they and their teams work tirelessly to deliver exceptional service to our members and guests. The Board sincerely appreciates their efforts
April 22 Town Hall
As a reminder, on April 22 at 6:00 PM, we will host our first quarterly Town Hall. During this session, we will review our 2026 strategy and progress to date, share Q1 financial results, and provide updates on both the Golf Course Master Plan and the Facilities Master Plan. On April 16, Andrew Green will present the first draft of the Golf Course Master Plan to the committee While this will be an initial, high-level plan, we look forward to sharing early updates with the membership at the Town Hall
For those who attended the recent Membership Committee Town Hall, thank you for your participation The Board appreciates the thoughtful questions and feedback as we continue to improve transparency and strengthen communication with our membership.
Golf Course Update
As the weather continues to warm, our golf course remains in tremendous condition thanks to the outstanding work of Josh Urbanec and his team As a reminder, we all play a role in maintaining the quality of the course please take care to rake bunkers, fill divots, and repair ball marks
Tennis Member-Guest
April also brings one of the premier events at the Club the Tennis Member-Guest, April 9–12. Even if you are not a tennis player, I encourage you to come out and enjoy the event. Marie Waller and our Food and Beverage teams put on an outstanding experience widely regarded as the best Tennis Member-Guests in North Florida It is a great opportunity to enjoy competitive tennis, excellent food and beverage, and a lively atmosphere, including viewing the Masters on large screens throughout the event
Another great quarter is in the books, and we look forward to an exciting spring and summer season ahead.

Progress Toward an Exceptional Pool Season
As we move into the spring season, I’m pleased to share an update on the progress at our pool complex The pool remarciting and coping project has now been successfully completed, and the pool is currently being filled in preparation for the season ahead This important investment not only enhances the overall appearance of the facility but also ensures a high-quality, safe, and enjoyable experience for our members and their families.
Over the next several weeks, our team will continue preparing the pool area for opening day. This includes refreshing the bathrooms, pressure washing and seal the pool deck, and getting both the de and Pool Snack Bar fully ready for t summer season Lifeguard training w begin in May to ensure we are staffed a ready to deliver a safe and well-manag environment from day one
We are also excited to kick off another great year with the Poolcats swim team Swim team sign-ups will begin on April 12th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on the Pool Deck, and we look forward to welcoming both returning and new swimmers The Pool Snack Bar will officially open on May 22nd, with the full pool season kicking off with our annual Memorial Day Pool Party on May 25th.
We look forward to another outstanding summer at the pool and to seeing so many families enjoying this refreshed space.

Spring at San Jose Country Club is a wonderful time of year With a full calendar of exciting events, the season offers countless opportunities for members, both longstanding and new, as well as their families and guests to come together and create meaningful memories at the Club.
Membership referrals remain one of the most valued and time-honored ways our club continues to grow. There’s no greater compliment than when our members share their enthusiasm for San Jose with friends, neighbors, and colleagues To show our appreciation, we’re pleased to offer a referral program that rewards our sponsoring members with a referral reward equivalent to six months of dues This dues credit will be equal to the new members category of membership. As a quick reminder, to qualify for the program and receive your referral credit, all referrals must be submitted to the Membership Director before the prospective member reaches out to the club.
In addition, we are proud to offer our Legacy Membership, designed for immediate family members who wish to enjoy and continue the traditions of the Club. Welcome To Our New Members
The Utz Family
Originally from New Jersey, they met at the University of New Jersey Medical School and married in 1974.
In 1988, they made Jacksonville their home, settling in Deerwood, joining San Jose Catholic Church, and raising their two children, Christopher and Katherine Both followed in their parents’ footsteps, attending San Jose Catholic School, Bishop Kenny High School, and the University of Notre Dame
Joe practiced radiology at Baptist Medical Center for many years and now works part-time at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.
Kathy raised their family and has volunteered for more than 25 years with Catholic Charities and the First Coast Women’s Center. These days, Joe and Kathy follow the good weather spending summers in Tennessee and winters here in Jacksonville.
After 35 years in Deerwood, they recently downsized to a condominium at Old San Jose on the River and are looking forward to spending many wonderful winter days with the San Jose Country Club community

Protect the Areas that Are Recovering!
We are emerging from winter in the best condition we've seen in years, but this transitional time requires caution as the soil warms, and the grass begins to recover. A few areas still need to heal from the winter cold, particularly those on northfacing slopes. Here are some ways you can help:
When driving on the fairways, please avoid areas that look thin
Some fairways will remain CPO longer than others (9, 4, 14 etc )
Avoid (if possible) walking on some of the fringe areas that are thin (2,11)
As always, please repair ball marks and fill your divots!

The Golf Architect Committee is scheduled to review the 1st draft of the Master plan on April 16th
This draft should be very rough and conceptual, but we are all excited to hear his ideas

A Month of Match Play, Member Moments, and Summer Ahead
April is an exciting time for tennis with the upcoming Member Guest, and the leagues are in full swing as the energy around the courts continues to grow. Warmer weather and longer days create the perfect time for players of all ages and skill levels to get outside, improve their game, and enjoy time on the court
As April progresses, preparations for summer camps begin to take center stage. The summer Junior sports camp offers a fun and structured environment where the kids can develop their skills, build confidence, and make new friends These programs typically focus on fundamentals, match play, fitness, and teamwork, all while keeping the experience enjoyable and rewarding. We look forward to a summer filled with growth, learning, and plenty of time on the court
The Tennis Member Guest brings an exciting lineup of events and competitive play, creating an awesome atmosphere for players and guests. The week kicks off on Tuesday, April 7th, with a fun and energetic Ladies’ Night from 6:30–9:30 pm
Participants can enjoy time on the courts, a courtside dinner, refreshing drinks, and the opportunity to win prizes This special evening is proudly sponsored by the San Jose Ladies Racquets Association.
We will continue, Thursday, April 9th, with a double’s exhibition match from 6:30–10:00 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy high-level tennis while indulging in appetizers and drinks from the club, making it a perfect night of watching tennis and socializing
Tournament play officially begins on Friday, April 10th, with matches starting around 1:30 pm The day includes lunch service from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, followed by a buffet dinner from 6:00–9:00 pm and an open bar available until 10:00 p.m., providing a full day of competition and hospitality.
Saturday, April 11th, offers a full schedule starting with breakfast from Chick-fil-A and Tropical Smoothie Café from 7:30–10:00 a.m., followed by play
beginning at 8:00 am Lunch is served from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm The highlight of the evening is the “Electric Jungle” Player Party under the tent beginning at 6:00 p.m., along with a buffet dinner and open bar, creating a lively and memorable experience for all attendees
The weekend wraps up on Sunday, April 12th, with breakfast from The Little Breakfast Truck from 7:30–10:30 a.m., along with Bloody Mary’s and mimosas from the club. Matches begin at 8:00 am, leading into the finals on Sunday afternoon The event concludes with a SJCC cook-out from 11:30 am to 3:00 p.m., providing the perfect ending to an exciting weekend of tennis.
Guest passes are available online, with options for full weekend access, singleday passes, and tickets for the Thursday night exhibition All packages include beverages, making it easy for guests to relax and enjoy the full experience.

As we turn the corner into spring, it’s hard not to get excited about the energy and activity that comes with pool season at San Jose One of the highlights each year is our Swim Team, and we’re looking forward to welcoming both returning swimmers and new families Swim team sign-ups will take place on the Pool Deck on April 12th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and we encourage everyone to come out, meet the coaches, and get ready for another great season with the Poolcats.
The momentum continues to build as we prepare for the official opening of the pool over Memorial Day Weekend. There is nothing quite like that first jump in the water to kick off summer at the Club, and we are excited to see the pool come back to life with families, fitness, and fun We can’t wait to dive into another fantastic pool season with all of you
