CONSTITUITION ARTICLE I The name of the Association shall be San Jose Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association (SJLNHA). ARTICLE II The purpose of the organization shall be to promote the interest of golf among the Regular women members of the San Jose Country Club. ARTICLE III The officers of the Association shall be President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. ARTICLE IV The affairs of the Association shall be managed by a Board of Directors composed of the Officers and the Chairmen of the Standing Committees. ARTICLE V The constitution can be amended at any regular meeting of the Association by two-thirds vote of the members present, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting. BY-LAWS ARTICLE I Membership in the Organization shall be open to any female golf member of the San Jose Country Club. ARTICLE II Board of Directors Section 1. The business affairs of this Association shall be conducted by the Board of Directors, composed of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Chairmen of the Standing Committees and the Immediate Past President who shall be an ex-officio non-voting member of the Board.

Section 2. Any officer or chairman of any committee who is unable to fulfill her duties shall resign in order that the Board may fill that vacancy for the unexpired term until the next annual election. Section 3. The Board of Directors shall meet at the call of the President or Vice President. Two-thirds of its members present shall constitute a quorum. Section 4. The Board of Directors shall have the power to call special meetings of the Association when necessary or advisable. ARTICLE III Dues The annual dues for the Association will be fifty dollars ($50). Members will be billed on the May statement of their San Jose Country Club account. No member shall be eligible for competition play until her dues for the current year have been paid. For non-Jacksonville residents, a Non-Resident annual dues of $20 is charged. Dues for resident members will be pro-rated depending upon when new members join. ARTICLE IV Expenses Section 1. Current expenses shall be met from general Association funds. Section 2. The fiscal year shall be from the last playing date in May to the last playing date of the following May. ARTICLE V Meetings Section 1. The annual meeting of the SJLNHA shall be held in May of each year. Section 2. Two-thirds of the members present shall constitute a quorum. ARTICLE VI Discipline Section 1. Acceptance of membership shall bind each member to uphold all rules of the Association, the USGA and to accept and observe all decisions of the Board of Directors acting within its jurisdiction. Section 2. All disputes in each match or medal play shall be reported to the Golf Committee as soon as the match is ended for adjudication.

ARTICLE VII Election of Officers Section 1. Nomination of officers shall be made by a Nominating Committee consisting of three members. Notice of Nominations shall be sent to members of the Association at least ten days prior to the annual meeting. Nominations may be made from the floor at the annual meeting, provided the nominee has granted permission. Section 2. The President shall appoint the Chairman of the Nominating Committee. The other two members shall be chosen at the regular meeting prior to the annual meeting. Nominations may be made from the floor and seconded from the floor. ARTICLE VIII Order of Business at the Annual Meeting The following order shall be followed at the Annual Meeting: Secretary’s Report, Treasurer’s Report, Report of the Standing Committees, unfinished business, new business, election of officers and adjournment. ARTICLE IX Parliamentary Authority Robert’s Rules of Order shall be our parliamentary authority.
ARTICLE X Amendments These by-laws may be amended at any annual meeting or special meeting of the Association by a two-thirds vote of those present. The proposed amendments must have been submitted to the Board of Directors before being voted on. A written notice of the proposed amendment must be mailed to all members of the Association at least ten days prior to the meeting.

OFFICERS Section 1. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and meetings of the Board of Directors. She shall name the Chairmen of the Standing Committees. The President shall be an ex- officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. Section 2. During the absence or the disability of the President, the Vice President shall perform her duties. She will be responsible for the luncheons and the decorations. She will also be responsible for purchasing and awarding the appreciation gifts. Section 3. The Secretary shall keep the records of all meetings of the Association and the Board of Directors. When notices are to be sent out, she shall send them. She shall be in charge of all the papers and correspondence of the Association. Section 4. The Treasurer shall keep an accurate account of all funds received and dispersed. She shall present a written report of the finances at each business meeting of the Association and shall make a report at meetings of the Board of Directors.

STANDING COMMITTEES: It shall be the duty of the President, as soon as possible after elected, to appoint the Chairmen of the following standing committees: Golf, Tournament, Communications, Membership & Yearbook and Interclub. (A) GOLF COMMITTEE: It shall be the duty of the Chairmen of the Golf Committee to schedule all play day events, and with the assistance of the Tournament Chairman to set all tournament dates. A Golf Professional will assist in scheduling play days and tournaments, as well as to determine the winners of each event. Two copies of the result sheet of the winners of each play day event shall be kept by the Golf Chairperson, with one copy kept in the permanent notebook in the Association locker, and one copy placed on the bulletin board. The Golf Chairman will transfer birdies from the birdie sheet to the birdie tree also oversee the ringer cards. Ringer scores will be recorded for scheduled play days only.
B) TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE: It shall be the duty of the Tournament Committee Chairman, assisted by committee members, to conduct all scheduled tournaments and make awards. They will be responsible for awarding the prize for MIP as determined by Golf Genius. Said golfer must play a minimum of 60% of regular play days. (C) MEMBERSHIP & YEARBOOK COMMITTEE: It shall be the duty of the Membership Chairman to oversee the compiling, publishing and distribution of the yearbook. It is also this Chairman’s responsibility, along with committee members, to promote membership in the Association and introduce new members. (D) COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE: It shall be the duty of the Chairman to send cards, etc, to members who are ill or have a death in the immediate family. Other duties include, posting updates and regular maintenance of 9-Holers locker room bulletin board. (E) INTERCLUB COMMITTEE: It shall be the duty of the Chairman, assisted by the committee members, to plan and conduct the Interclub Tournament and Luncheon and coordinate participation with the other area interclub groups. If necessary, play spots will be determined by a lottery drawing system. 9
Nine-Hole Ladies Golf Association PLAY DAY RULES 1. Sign up to play each week by replying to the weekly Golf Genius notification. Be at your tee box at least five minutes before tee time. If you have to cancel, contact the Pro Shop prior to scheduled play, if possible. 2. Ladies with membership in both the Nine Hole Association and the Eighteen Hole Association will have dual membership and be allowed to fully participate in all Nine Hole events. Tournaments are included, provided the member has an established handicap. 3. No established handicap is needed to join the SJLNHGA, however, each member must have an established 9- or 18-hole handicap to be eligible to participate in play day prizes or to compete in a tournament. 4. Any non-member of the Association may play but not compete in any competition, excluding mixed couples. 5. At any point on any hole that you reach double par for the hole, you will pick up your ball with exception to a specialty prize hole. For tournament play, the player must hole out every hole. 6. Players are eligible for only one prize in each event. 7. Ringer scores will be based on scheduled play days only. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season for low gross and low net, front and back nine, $25 each and $20 each if there is a tie. 8. Most improved player is awarded $20 at the end of the season. This is determined by Golf Genius and our Golf Professional.

9. Any group, regardless of number that allows a full hole to open ahead must permit the group behind to play through. 10. All players must ride in a cart on the official Thursday Tournament play day when playing in the tournament. 11. All players must play from forward tees during Tournaments. 12. For all events of the Association on the front nine holes of San Jose Country Club, the tee box for hole #3 & #6 will be located across the water, leaving the water out of play. 13. When posting scores make sure to select Ladies Green Tees. 14. Play days requiring cart paths only: Players may, without penalty, in the general area, lift, clean and place their ball within one club length of where it originally lay, but no closer to the hole and not in a penalty area or on the putting green. 15. If a player’s swing path is impeded by a tree root that is above ground, the player is entitled to relief without penalty (particularly relevant on holes 7, 16 and 17). Relief is to be taken no more than one club length from the nearest point of relief, no closer to the pin. 16. USGA rules shall govern play at all times, except as modified by SJCC local rules.
Failure to follow the above guidelines could result in disqualification from the competition.

Golf Etiquette & Course Regulations All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship, irrespective of how competitive they may be. This is the spirit of the game of golf. Players should not play until the players in front are out of range. If a player plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone, they should immediately shout a warning. The traditional word of warning in such situations is “fore.” Players should always show consideration for other players on the course and should not disturb their play by moving, talking, or making unnecessary noise. Ex: cell phones, whispering, etc. Players should not stand close to or directly behind the ball, or directly behind the hole when a player is about to play. On the putting green, players should not stand on another player’s line of putt or cast a shadow over her line of putt. Players should remain on or close to the putting green until all other players in the group have holed out, unless falling behind pace. Each group is required to complete each nine-holes played in 2 hours or less. If there is a clear hole ahead of you and you are delaying the group behind, invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group. Where a group has not lost a clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through. Players should be ready to play as soon as it is their turn to play. When playing on or near the putting green, they should leave their bags or carts in such a position as will enable quick movement off the green and towards the next tee. When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green. 12
Before leaving a bunker, players should rake the bunker. Fill and smooth over all holes and footprints made by them and any nearby made by others. If a rake is within reasonable proximity of the bunker, it should be used for this purpose. Players should carefully repair any divot holes made by them or another and repair any damage to the putting green made by the impact of a ball. Note safety and operational rules on the golf cart and follow responsibly. Do not operate golf carts within 40 feet of greens or tee boxes except on cart paths or with handicap physically challenged flag. Keep carts one cart length from bunkers. Avoid wet spots in fairway and rough. Do not drive on course if the “Cart Path Only” rule is in effect. No practice is allowed on the course. All practice is limited to designated areas. No handcarts/push carts on Saturday or Holidays before noon or as designated by the Golf Shop. Ladies attire on the course. Length of skirt, skort, and shorts MUST be long enough to not see your bottom at any time, standing or bent over. Leggings, unless under a skort or shorts, are NOT allowed. Sleeveless shirts must have some type of collar. If a player consistently disregards these guidelines during a round or over a period of time, the Committee may consider taking appropriate disciplinary action against the offending player. Such action may, for example, include prohibiting play during official ladies’ play-days for a limited time on the course or in a certain number of competitions. This is considered to be justifiable in terms of protecting the interests of the majority of golfers who wish to play in accordance with these guidelines.

Nine-Hole Ladies Play Day Guidelines
To be eligible for prizes, it is the responsibility of the player to figure your score for game day. Always check your card for accuracy before signing and turning in to the Pro Shop. Notice the following: 1. Score cards are generated by Pro Shop with names of players in each group. One in each group takes responsibility to enter her groups' correct score per hole. 2. Always circle birdies and record them on the birdie sheet on the bulletin board. 3. Total gross score. 4. Play day scores are automatically posted by Golf Genius, but it is the player's responsibility to record her own birdies and ringers. 5. Members with established GHIN play SJCC green tees. Golfers w/o GHIN play accommodated tee. 6. If a golfer picks up a 2x par, they should denote this on the scorecard and it will remain eligible for net prizes only. 16
TOURNAMENTS MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT Formerly Handicap Tournament This is bracket tournament which consists of 9-hole matches. Golfers will play against one opponent each round to try to win in order to move on to the next round. Each hole is a match where you either win, tie, or lose the hole. Whoever wins the most holes wins the match. (Think of it like a number line where you start at 0 and either work to positive numbers and win or in the negative numbers, you lose.) If the match is tied at the end of the 9 holes, play will continue in a sudden death format until a golfer wins the hole and therefore, the match. Matches must be played within the determined schedule. If players cannot agree to a time, the player who cannot play on the scheduled day must default. A match ending in a tie is to continue hole-by-hole until one person wins the hole. The playoff should occur the same day, immediately following the match on #1 tee or #10 tee as available. CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT This is a two-day tournament. The field will be flighted for the second day of play. An overall Gross Score will determine the tournament winner. (Prizes: Overall Champion: $60, 1st place flight #2, $40, and $25 to 2nd place of flight 1 and 2.) RED, WHITE AND BLUE TOURNAMENT This is a one-day tournament to honor our veterans. This is a modified scramble (Shamble) format with prizes given to the 1st place gross and net of the teams with 1 or 2 best balls of the team. There will be 4 players on a team, they pick the best drive and play their own ball to finish the hole. The team score is the lowest 2 net scores for each hole. 17
FORMATS 3 Club Monty - Players pick 3 clubs plus the putter for the round. 3 Blind Mice - 3 Holes chosen at random by professional to be thrown out. 5 Clubs Monty - Players pick 5 clubs, including your putter for the round. Best 2 Balls - Each player on the team plays her own golf ball throughout the round, and on each hole the 2 net scores or “best balls” of the group are added together for the team score. Best Net Ball - Team of 2, 3 or 4 play their own ball. The best net score per hole of the team is tallied for the total score. Blind 5 - 5 holes chosen at random by the professional to count for your score. Captain’s Choice - Best ball of team played from tee to hole. Also known as a scramble. Challenge Tees - Each player will play nine holes from challenge tees. Closest to the Pin - Tee shot must be on green. Colored Balls - All golfers receive a colored ball before play. The golfers must use this ball as long as it is available. The player(s) who still have the ball at the end of play win. Even Holes - Count only the even holes. Fewest Putts - Player with the fewest putts at the end of the round wins. Full House - 2 Best Balls on Par 5s, 3 Best Balls on Par 3s, & 4 Best Balls on Par 4s. Gift Giver - Pro will throw out your worst 3 holes. Green in Regulation - Count shots made from tee to green in regulation. Regulation for par 3 is 1; for par 4 is 2; for par 5 is 3. Hate ‘Em – Play all nine holes. however, BEFORE play begins, choose two holes that you hate and don’t count these holes for scoring purposes. It’s Your Turn - Team format, ideally three players. The first player hits off the tee, then player 2 hits player 1’s drive. Player 3 then hits player 2’s ball. The score is totaled using half combined handicap. Longest Putt - Putt must be made from the green. Longest Drive - Must be in the fairway. Love ‘Em - Play all nine holes; however, BEFORE play begins, choose your favorite five holes to use for your score at the end. Low Gross - Count all strokes, lowest score wins. Low Net - Count all strokes, subtract your handicap, lowest score wins.

Lowest Net Plus Putts - Use your net score for nine holes, then add total putts to that score. Match Play - Players’ gross score on each hole, less handicap. Me, Too - Team of 2, 3 or 4. Players are allowed to swap their shot for someone else’s in their group for any hole (drive, iron shot or putt). They move their ball to where the other shot lies and both play the next shot from there. They may use it to join someone holing out. Me,Too handicaps as follows: Handicaps 20+ get 3, 15-19 get 2, 10-15 get 1, less than 10 get 0. Modified Scramble or Shamble - Each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shot from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined and all play their third shots from that spot and so on until the ball is holed. Most Fairways - Count how many drives you put in the fairway. Player with the most wins. Most 6’s - Most 6’s in a round. Most 7’s — Most 7’s in a round. Most Pars — Most pars in round. Mutt and Jeff - On Par 5 and Par 3 holes, net scores are totaled to determine the winner. N.O.S.E. - Count scores for holes 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11,16,17 and 18. Odd Holes - Count only the odd holes. Players Agony - Count the hardest 5 holes (course handicap rating). Tees - Use scores only on the holes that start with “T”, “E” or “S”. Front 9: #2, 3, 6, 7, & 8. Back 9: #10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17 & 18. Texas 2 - Step - 1 Best Ball odd holes, 2 Best Balls on even holes for the team. T & F - Score only the holes that begin with T or F – thus 2,3,4,5,10.12.13.14 and 15. You still play the other holes, but are not counted in the score Tee to Green - Only your strokes from the tee to the green are counted. Your total number of putts made are subtracted from your final score. Worst Two Holes - After play, each player can delete the two worst holes from their total net score. Trouble - The goal is to collect the least number of trouble points in the round. One trouble point is given for: out of bounds, in water, in bunker, and 3-putts. The player with the least number of trouble points wins. 19
