Let’s discover the amazing world of art. Whether you have already found art as a passion or simply want to satisfy a new curiosity, this is the camp for you. You will learn fundamental art skills while developing your artistic expression, style and art vocabulary. Campers will gain a deeper understanding of art and will be proud to showcase their completed pieces to family and friends. Art projects will vary each week to align with the weekly theme, focusing on watercolor, acrylic painting and clay sculptures. *Morning and afternoon sessions will complete the same projects each week.*

Campers collaborate to create exciting, innovative media projects from start to finish. They’ll brainstorm original ideas, plan their videos using storyboards, film with HD cameras and tripods and edit their work using Adobe Premiere Pro. Campers can choose to create a music video, short film or commercial and will enhance their projects with music, titles and special effects. In addition to video production, campers will explore digital photography using DSLR cameras. They’ll learn the basics of composition and experiment with portrait photography, action shots and slow shutter techniques. At the end of camp, each student will receive a flash drive containing all of the videos and photos they created during the week.

Keyboarding as a skill is as important now as it has ever been. With smartphone thumb typing becoming many individuals’ introduction to input, keyboarding can sometimes be overlooked. This camp will focus on correct keyboarding form, how to type efficiently, command shortcuts and how to improve accuracy and speed. While this is a skill-building camp rather than a traditional “just for fun” camp, it is designed to be engaging and purposeful. The goal of this camp is to equip campers with the keyboarding skills they will need as they enter high school, using structured practice along with interactive exercises, games and challenges. Additionally, at least one current SJA student will be present to answer questions and talk with campers about the computers they will use as students and the importance of strong typing skills. This camp is open to girls and boys.
