On-campus living provides all the comfort, independence, and convenience you need to live your best life at SIUE. University Housing provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for nearly 3,000 students living on campus, including you!

FIRST-YEAR LIVING OPTIONS
Our friendly, safe, modern residence halls are just the place to begin your college experience. First-year students live in Bluff, Prairie, or Woodland Hall. Housing is suite style—two bedrooms with one bathroom shared by up to four people.

The Esports Gaming Arena is open to all students. The SIUE Esports Club competes with eight varsity teams.

Residency Requirement
All first-year, first-time students who graduated high school within the last 12 months must live on campus. Submit an exemption request at siue.edu/residency-requirement if you meet one of the approved exemption reasons, like commuting from a parent/guardian’s home address within 60 miles of campus.

Living on campus connects you with an exciting new community through social events, academic and identity-based groups, and leadership opportunities. You’ll find your place as you settle into your new home away from home.
Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
LLCs allow you to live in a community with other students who share a common academic major or interest. It’s a great way to connect with like-minded students, receive educational support, and connect with faculty and staff outside the classroom. There is no additional cost to live in an LLC. University Housing programs and groups are open to all residents.

UPPERCLASS LIVING OPTIONS
Sophomores and above can choose to live in
Evergreen Hall, Cougar Village Apartments, or an upperclass wing in a residence hall.


Residence Hall Upperclass Wings are for sophomores and above who prefer to remain in Bluff, Prairie, or Woodland Hall. These spaces are limited and based on availability.
l Students share a room with one other student and up to four people share a bathroom.

Evergreen Hall features apartment- and suite-style rooms in a more independent residence hall environment.
l Studio apartment: one person, private with full kitchen and bath
l Private suite: private bedroom in a four-person suite
l Private apartment: private bedroom in four- to six-person apartment
l Shared apartment: shared bedroom in six-person apartment
Cougar Village Apartments offer traditional, independent apartment-style living with the community and academic advantages of living on campus.
l Two-four students share two- and three-bedroom apartments.
l Cougar Village is also home to family and graduate housing.

You can apply for University Housing as soon as you've been admitted to SIUE.
l Review housing options, including Living Learning Communities.
l The application fee and housing deposit are required to complete the housing application.
l The preferred fall-spring application deadline is May 1, 2026. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
