Brainstorming
From observation of a basic Amazon box, I recorded the most noticeable information about a physical box and its conceptual correlation within our system. I decide to focus on the aspect of box’s contents, in which I think everything contains energy. Being a human, the level of energy is divided into three categories: lacking, balanced, and overwhelmed.

Inner exert influence to the outside, however restricted by common law and preset settings. (nationality, skin color, human shell, etc).
This limitation cause pressure but also act as a catalyst for productivity.

Inspired by four random keywords (Housing/ Recording/Caring/Culturing), I took sourbread as a box example, and tried to present it as an interactive web application, where users can zoom in to observe ths bread texture and structure. I modelled the bread in Blender, then exported it into Verge 3D, which enables the rendered model running on website.
From this outcome, I consider this method is too informative. I discover the need to present the information theory of our world as a box in more expressive, active form than a plain explanation. Also, in order to make acknowledgeble of my ideas, it would be helpful to have supporting contexts, such as existing films and theatre clips. It would be more easy for viewers to empathsize and perceive.

Process
An advance development plan to visualize theory of world as a confining box:
to tell a narrative in the form of experimental film using the constructed box system model and edited clips from existing film or theatre

During online discussion and feedback session, my tutor mentioned the possibility of a time-based performance, which inspired me to research into multi-media and audio-visual techniques.
I discovered laser projection could be a better alternative and would produce stronger contrast than overlaying animation over film projection. The projecting light within preset paremeter of screen also suggests the idea of restriction.

M-shaped pins to support pages
The paper bandoneon is made to connect connect the film with selected soundtrack, which involves bandoneon in its major chorus.
The action of pulling and pushing which force air through bellows, during playing bandoneon inspires me.
I attempt to unify and emphasize theme of oppression by incorporate this model (as stop-motion animation) into the final film.
Inspired by bandoneon ’s buttons, I attached foam paper to the box’s cover. In this case, it would be “played” by pressing, an act of repressive aggressiveness.

Channel V2-V5: Recurring images distributed throughout the film for purpose of unification
Channel V1: Film clips editing: I selected film/theatre clips that can be edited out its original context yet still be able to communicate the concepts I want to visualize
Channel A1: Sound effect of popping foam to represent random allocation of misfortune/fate
Channel A2: Soundtrack selection
Soundtrack is “Soledad”, by Astor Piazolla, who is an Argentine composer known for tango nuevo (fusion of jazz and tango) and bandoneon. Soledad, meaning solitude in Spanish, has a melancholic and tragic connotation

Reflection
From answers I received followed by asking audience’s first impression of the film, I am certain that the main melancholy, dark theme and part of concepts is being successfully communicated. Since they did not bring up the notion of box, which is the topic of this brief, I consider the outcome prone to be abstract and conceptual. This could be improved if I can experiment more, possibly importing the vectorgraphics of box into the DMX lighting control program, however I also see a disturbing outlook in doing that, because the concrete box figures would interrupt and quarrel with the film behind. I look forward to explore more with multi-media projection method, and maybe by programming the laser lights more precisely, I will correlate the image of box more with the narrative film.
Overall I am contented with the outcome in that I have started to develop interest in a new technique and accomplished partial effective communication with audience on a complex subject.
