“Packaging is often the first thing shoppers notice,” Badcock said. “It can shape how someone feels about a product before they ever try what’s inside.” A package should look appealing, though appearance is only part of the equation. It also needs to protect the product, travel safely, store well and hold up through regular use. Once the product is finished, the packaging should allow easy recycling, refilling or responsible disposal. There is no single packaging option that works best for every beauty product. A lightweight container may reduce shipping weight. A refillable option may stay in use longer. A recyclable material may work well in one area but create challenges in another if local recycling systems cannot process it. Even packaging that appears sustainable can create problems in practice if it leaks, breaks or requires excess shipping materials.
WHY INGREDIENT SOURCING MATTERS
“Ingredient lists have become an important part of how people evaluate beauty products,” Badcock said. “Shoppers often look for familiar oils, butters, botanical extracts and information about how ingredients were sourced, which plays a major role in the environmental impact.” A product’s environmental footprint is influenced by many factors, including shipping distance, processing methods, storage conditions and supplier practices. These factors can also affect product consistency and ingredient availability over time. Beauty brands working with wholesale skin care suppliers or private label manufacturers often need to balance ingredient goals with sourcing reliability and production needs.
HOW BETTER PLANNING CAN LEAD TO LESS WASTE
“Packaging and ingredients are usually the first things people associate with sustainability, but how much product gets made, stored and discarded matters, too,” Badcock said.
Overproduction is one of the biggest hidden sources of waste in beauty and personal care. Products that sit too long in storage may eventually expire or remain unsold. Excess inventory can also create additional packaging waste, warehousing needs and disposal costs. Smaller batch sizes give producers more room to adjust as trends or demand shift, and producing closer to expected sales windows helps reduce long storage periods and unnecessary waste.
HOW SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY CHOICES ARE CONNECTED
Packaging, ingredient sourcing and production planning are closely connected throughout development. “A packaging choice can affect shipping weight, storage needs and whether a package can be refilled,” Badcock said. “Ingredient choices can influence sourcing timelines and how products need to be stored. Production planning affects how much material gets used and how much product could eventually go unsold.”
BEAUTY SHOPPERS WANT MORE TRANSPARENCY AROUND SUSTAINABILITY CLAIMS
Sustainability claims carry less weight when those claims aren’t explained in practice. This shift is pushing many beauty brands to focus more heavily on traceability, supplier relationships and clearer product information. Transparency is becoming part of the customer experience itself.

Responsible beauty products come together through ongoing choices around packaging, sourcing, production and inventory planning. THE HISTORY OF THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY
Over the years, portions of the road have been replaced by more modern highways, so large sections of the highway have merged with roads like U.S. 30 and Interstate 80. However, you can still find markers of the original Lincoln Highway across the country, and traveling this route offers you opportunities to visit small towns, historic sites, unique shops and diners, off-the-beaten-path attractions - glimpses of the country the average interstate just doesn’t provide.

As the first transcontinental highway created in the United States, the Lincoln Highway cuts straight across the country for about 3,000 miles, starting in New York’s Times Square and ending in San Francisco’s Lincoln Park. Its origins in 1912 dovetail with the development of the auto industry, as there really were no good quality roads to travel across the country at that time. The Lincoln Highway Association credits Carl Fisher — the force behind the creation of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway — with the idea for a “Coast-to-Coast Rock Highway,” which quickly caught the attention of entrepreneurs and leaders of the early auto industry. Dedicated in 1913, the original Lincoln Highway spanned about 3,389 miles, traveling through 13 states. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, part of the Lincoln Highway in New Jersey incorporated a road originally built by Dutch Colonists around 1675. One section in Ohio followed the Ridge Road, an ancient Indian trail, and a western portion of the highway followed part of the famed Mormon Trail. Yet rather than kicking back, the loveable Aussie seems to be entering another fascinating chapter. Fresh from the success of Song Sung Blue, alongside Kate Hudson, audiences have now seen him reinvent the Robin Hood legend in A24’s haunting The Death of Robin Hood, while lighter projects such as The Sheep Detectives demonstrate an actor still happy to surprise both audiences and himself. And alongside his film work, Jackman continues to nurture stage productions and live performances. It all provides evidence that, despite conquering Hollywood many times over, the theatre still calls him home. That willingness to move effortlessly between genres has become something of a trademark. One month he is singing before thousands, the next he is portraying a battle-scarred outlaw confronting mortality. Then he is lending warmth to a family adventure. “It doesn’t matter the size of the project or the audience, I know when I get butterflies over a project, it’s something I have to pursue,” he begins. It’s a deceptively simple philosophy, yet one that has quietly shaped one of the most varied careers in modern entertainment. Of course, there will always be one role that follows him wherever he goes. When Jackman first announced he was retiring Wolverine after Logan, most people believed him. In truth, so did he.
“After Logan, I was happy to be done — genuinely happy,” he recalls. “And I mean that in the best possible way. “I was happy that I had arrived at a place where my own personal path was veering off in a few different directions. It felt the right time to do that.“ After 17 years, and nine films, I was definitely done. It never felt right before that when I had considered walking away. Yet, in my gut, I knew this time it was the right move.” As it turned out, life had other ideas. “Some paths do meet back up further down the road,” he says with a grin, referencing the character’s return in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine; yet that role aside, for the most part Jackman is a forward-thinker of considerable weight. And the reason audiences continue to connect with Jackman is his humility, because despite his extraordinary success, he still speaks with the enthusiasm of someone grateful simply to be invited to the party. One of his favorite memories isn’t walking a red carpet or collecting an award. Instead, it involves quietly sneaking into a packed New York cinema to watch Deadpool with ordinary moviegoers. “I had to sit on the stairs,” he laughs. “Nobody knew it was me. I was sat at the back of the theatre, crouched down, wearing a baseball cap… just taking in the movie and the reaction of the audience. “We can live a sheltered life as actors whereby you never actually directly see how a film influences and impacts an audience directly, but that was a really cool and revealing moment for me.” Moments like that matter to him. For all the glamour surrounding Hollywood, Jackman has always appeared more interested in connection than celebrity. Perhaps that explains why, after almost three decades at the top, he continues to seek projects that stretch him rather than simply repeat old triumphs.

nd despite headlining some of the biggest films ever made, he speaks about live performance with the enthusiasm of the little Australian boy who first discovered musicals all those years ago. “As an actor, I still think of the theatre as my finest means of creative expression, and all my best memories come from moments I’ve spent on stage in front of an audience, particularly musicals. “I have vivid memories of playing King Arthur in Camelot when I was five years old and how the crown kept slipping down over my head and nose. I fell in love with musicals around then. “A couple of years later, I must have been eight, my dad took me to see a performance of The Man of La Mancha, and I remember Hugo Weaving starring in that. He had studied at the same high school that I was about to enter, so that was a very inspiring moment in my life. “I don’t think those feelings ever leave you. Every time I walk out onto a stage there’s still that same excitement. There’s still that little voice saying, ‘Let’s see what happens tonight.’ “I want the audience to believe they have witnessed something unique and special. I want there to be a little air of danger to it. We might stop in the middle of a song and tell a story. I might interact with somebody in the crowd.” Many actors eventually find comfort in predictability. Jackman appears to crave precisely the opposite. Perhaps that explains why he continues to return to the stage whenever his film schedule allows. Recent live performances have mixed Broadway classics, personal stories and audience interaction in a way that feels less like a concert and more like an evening in the company of an old friend. They’re celebrations of performance itself — joyful, spontaneous and unmistakably Hugh Jackman. That desire to keep audiences guessing extends all the way across his acting range, and it is a philosophy that demands discipline. Although the internet has long marvelled at the so-called ‘Wolverine Workout’, Jackman is quick to point out that the gym was never really about building muscles. It was about creating the freedom to continue doing what he loves. “I guess the good thing is that the Wolverine Workout, as it has become known, is that it’s almost second nature to me now. I’ve reacquainted myself so often with that version of myself, and the yearning at the end of it for bread and beer is still the thing that pulled me through! “I have also made sure I kept in some sort of regular shape this time as well. I’ve spent over two decades in the gym now because of this character, and this time I never really stepped away from it - even if my time there was cut from two hours to perhaps 20 minutes. “As I have said before, I actually think he prolonged my life expectancy because I’ve been working out like a maniac for so long, and I’ve eaten pretty well — ‘clean’, as they call it now — for all that time. “My waistline would be twice the size it is now if it wasn’t for him, so I’m eternally grateful for that.” Being physically capable of saying “yes” when the right opportunity presents itself has meant there is no sense of fearing age, nor trying desperately to outrun it. If anything, Jackman seems to welcome it. “As the years advance I don’t view my life as having fewer opportunities, but instead

many, many more. I think there is often a fear that we hit certain age milestones and desperately need to feel as if we’re ticking boxes, but certainly in the past 10 years I’ve relaxed that whole notion. “I think the older you get, it can’t help but creep into your mind that one day you’re not going to be here, and it’s a terrifying thought if you let it fester. I’ve educated myself not to be so hung up on all that. You’ve got to live in the moment, so I like to walk, appreciate my surroundings and take time to give thanks for what I have in my life because I know I’ve been very lucky in so many ways.” And being content about his mind and body also enables Jackman to find the creativity he needs within in. “When I did The Music Man stage production, that was a real case of going out of my comfort zone for an extended period of time. “Even away from the stage I still work with my singing teacher and dance teacher, because I know I want to return to that challenge at some point, and to do that I need to be in stage-ready shape. “Ultimately, Pavarotti had a singing teacher until the day he
died. So, who am I to say that I am not going to have dancing teachers, singing teachers, acting teachers? “There is always something to learn, there is always something new to do, there’s always a new goal to go for and I am the kind of person who always wants to keep moving, trying new things, different challenges, and setting the bar higher and higher. “At the same time, I do want every performance to feel fun and something amounting to a celebration. To do that, I can’t be turning up out of breath and feel tired, so health is the cornerstone of my longevity.” It all adds up to an outlook that explains why Hugh Jackman has remained such an enduring presence in popular culture. Long after the box-office records have been broken and the applause has faded, what lingers is not simply the versatility of the performer, but the warmth of the man himself. “There is always something to learn, there is always something new to do, there’s always a new goal to go for.” For Hugh Jackman, that philosophy has become more than a career mantra. Jackson: The Authentic Old West Jackson Hole is a valley or “hole” surrounded by mountains, including Grand Teton National Park with its peak towering at 13,775 feet. These lands were once the domain of fur trappers, mountain men who in the early 1800s pushed America’s boundaries west. In today’s Jackson, the main town within the “hole,” the Old West lives on. The arches to the town’s square are built of elk antlers. The barstools at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar are actually saddles. A local shop has cowboy hats hanging as far as the eye can see, a craftsman branding some with sizzling hot irons. This is the authentic West at its best.
I had set my sights on Jackson Hole for its awesome skiing but was thrilled to discover that I could also explore not one but two national parks as easy add-ons. Yellowstone, a couple-hours’ drive from Jackson, is the nation’s first national park, its terrain filled with geysers, hot springs, and bubbling mud pots, while the Grand Teton National Park area boasts a 25,000-acre elk refuge and is marked by majestic mountain peaks. Says Trey McCarley, a contemporary western landscape artist, of the Tetons, “This is where God goes on vacation.” He tells me that the many faces of the Grand Teton summit never fail to intrigue, especially when sunrise dapples light onto that apex, casting dancing shadows below.

Ski Bowls, Chutes, and Gullies While that peak can’t be skied, I find plenty of challenges at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort where 90 percent of the runs are black/double black or blues, though there’s a sprinkling of greens for beginners. There are two gondolas, unlike most ski resorts with one or none, as well as a large aerial tram. I am the last to board the tram at number 100. When it reaches mountaintop, I revel in 360-degree panoramas from the spacious viewing deck. My 22-yearold daughter, meanwhile, revels in making it down a run called Meet Your Maker as well as watching expert skiers daringly tackle cliffside chutes. The resort’s terrain is vast with 2,500 skiable acres inbounds—including bowls, chutes, and gullies—and another 3,000 acres of backcountry terrain. “People are good about self-policing,” a local tells me of those who venture into that great beyond. The Jackson Hole ski area is a 20-minute drive from town, including via easy hotel or public transportation, and is one of two area ski mountains. The second, Snow King Mountain, is nestled at the town’s base though smaller in scope and challenges.
Gazing at Galaxies In the town of Jackson, after a day of skiing, I settle in at the Rusty Parrot Lodge and Spa. The luxury boutique hotel is attuned to the Old West with rustic elegance, beautiful original western art, and it’s complete with balconies with telescopes for spotting bighorn sheep on nearby cliffs; the national parks have no bounds when it comes to roaming wildlife. As the sun begins to sink, I head up to a newly built restaurant, Aurora, atop Snow King Mountain. There, I dine on local delicacies while
taking in expansive views, including the cascading shadows now enveloping Grand Teton. Among restaurant menu offerings is farmraised bison tenderloin with black truffles, which is beyond mouthwatering—bison meat known for its lean tenderness and rich earthy tones—while foraged huckleberries top a baked custard desert. Just steps from the restaurant is a new addition to the local skyline, the Snow King Observatory & Planetarium where guests can explore the deep beyond in the night skies. Talk about cool! An enormous dome opens to reveal a Hubble-like telescope for viewing the planets. Through the lens, I see the orange gas bands circling the planet Jupiter. The telescope then rotates to focus in on Andromeda, a galaxy with which our galaxy is on a collision course. Fortunately, there’s millions of light years before that happens—so I have time the day following to further explore Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
Wildlife Viewing Bonanzas A good chunk of Grand Teton National Park includes land donated by conservationist and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who fell in love with the region’s rich lands in the 1920s. A short highway connects that park and Yellowstone, though only specially equipped snow-track vehicles (snowcoaches) and guided snowmobile tours can generally access winter roads in Yellowstone. Our snowcoach guide, a biologist with the nonprofit Wildlife Expeditions of Teton Science Schools, explains that winter offers a wildlife viewing bonanza as bison, moose, and elk migrate from icy mountaintops toward lower elevations for easier foraging, and the relatively barren winter trees increase wildlife visibility. Yellowstone has the added attraction of geysers, including Old Faithful that

spews its pent-up steam 100+ feet high nearly every hour, though the park has a vast array of other geothermal features every bit as mesmerizing as Old Faithful. It’s in Grand Teton’s lower elevation, however, that through a field scope our guide spots a special viewing prize—a lone gray wolf. It stands sentinel in the distance, perhaps eyeing nearby coyotes that are enjoying a recent kill. In another area, a bald eagle swoops in for fish that have congregated in an ice hole created by hot springs. The circles of life in these parks are exquisite to behold.
Hot Springs of Peace After these winter safaris, it’s time to soak up thermal springs myself, which I do at Astoria Hot Springs, a public park facility with six soaking pools along the Snake River. Astoria, 20 minutes
outside Jackson, sits on “lands of peace,” with long-ago adversarial indigenous tribes said to have set aside their differences to partake in the sacred healing of the springs. After therapeutic soaks, I head toward an evening of peace at Wyoming Inn, a rustic but refined inn, located slightly outside downtown but with mountain views and more wallet-friendly accommodations that downtown. Heading there, I pass the elk refuge and its dozens of grazing elk. But what really catches my eyes is the Grand Teton summit, the sun hitting its apex, shimmering light down upon its rocky precipices. I try to decipher the ever-changing face of this grand dame that has so captivated me, its beauty morphing with each daybreak and sunset. Perhaps, I realize, she is symbolic of the greater mysteries that surround this beautiful valley and its pristine parklands and wildlife. Some mysteries are timeless. uying a business has never received more attention. Social media is filled with videos, podcasts, newsletters, courses, and “experts” explaining how to buy a company, often with little money, little risk, and little day-to-day involvement. Artificial intelligence has added another layer by making it possible to generate acquisition plans, valuation models, due diligence lists, and negotiation strategies in seconds. Some of this information is useful. A lot of it is incomplete, oversimplified, or simply wrong. After more than 30 years in the business brokerage industry and involvement in thousands of transactions, I continue to see the same myths: absentee businesses are common, no-money-down deals are readily available, direct transactions automatically save money, aggressive negotiating produces better deals, and the perfect business is out there if you search long enough. The reality is that most businesses require meaningful owner involvement, capital, professional advice, reasonable expectations, confidentiality, and compromise. What has changed is how quickly these myths can spread and how professionally they can be presented. A confident influencer with a microphone, a rented car, and a large following can make buying a business look easier than it is. AI can turn those same ideas into polished guides, financial projections, letters of intent, and legal-looking documents. The presentation may be impressive, but that does not make the advice accurate. Even more concerning, buyers are sometimes paying thousands of dollars for courses, masterminds, coaching programs, deal lists, and “proven systems” built around bad assumptions. The Federal Trade Commission has taken action
against business-opportunity programs that used AI claims and promises of passive income to persuade consumers to invest substantial sums. The FTC has also reported that one in three people who lost money to a job or business-opportunity scam in 2025 said the opportunity began on social media. AI absolutely has a place in the acquisition process. It can help organize information, identify questions, compare industries, review trends, and make a buyer more efficient. But it cannot determine whether the seller’s financial statements are reliable, whether key employees will remain, whether customers are loyal to the company or the owner, or whether the buyer is personally capable of operating the business. Those answers require investigation, experience, judgment, and conversations with qualified professionals. The small-business acquisition market remains active. In 2025, BizBuySell reported 9,586 transactions with a total enterprise value of approximately $7.95 billion. That activity creates opportunity, but it also attracts people selling shortcuts to inexperienced buyers. The best approach is still the least glamorous one. Be financially prepared. Understand the role you will have to play. Verify the numbers. Protect confidentiality. Use an experienced business broker, attorney, CPA, and lender. Expect imperfections, and do not confuse enthusiasm with due diligence. AI can improve the process, and good online educators can help buyers become more informed. But neither followers nor technology replace transaction experience. Buying a business is not a social media challenge or a passive-income hack. It is a serious investment that deserves patience, discipline, and professional guidance. stb

Recipe By Matt Pittman, founder and CEO of Meat Church BBQ 1 8-Oz Block Cream Cheese Cooking Spray Meat Church Holy Gospel BBQ Rub 12 Large Jalapeño Peppers 1 Cup Chopped Smoked Brisket 2 Pound Bacon 1. Smoke the cream cheese: To smoke the cream cheese, preheat the Traeger with the lid closed to 275°F; this will take about 15 minutes. 2. Line a small rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. (Alternatively, line the sheet with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray.) Place the cream cheese block on the baking sheet, then score the top of the cream cheese. (This is not crucial, but the scoring creates more surface area for the spice and smoke to penetrate.) Season the cream cheese well with Holy Gospel. Smoke it for 1½ to 2 hours. (You can smoke the peppers at the same time; see below.) 3. Meanwhile, prepare the peppers: With a sharp knife and starting about a half inch up from the stem, make a horizontal slit. Then slit the pepper vertically starting in the middle of the initial cut and stopping just before you reach the tip to create a T. Open the pepper up some and, using the handle end of a spoon, scoop out the seeds and scrape away as much of the ribs as you like. (The ribs are what give the jalapeño its heat, so
of you like hot, skip the scraping.) 4. Set a wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet, then place the slit peppers on the rack and transfer to the grill. Smoke the peppers for 25 to 30 minutes to make them more pliable for stuffing. 5. In a medium bowl, combine the smoked cream cheese with the brisket. For easiest stuffing, transfer the filling to a pastry bag. (Alternatively use a zip-top bag and snip the tip off.) Fill the jalapeños with the cream cheese mixture; they want to be full but not overstuffed. Press on the pepper to mostly close the slit. 6. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with the bacon. Season the wrapped peppers all over with Holy Gospel and return them to the wire rack. 7. Transfer the rack to the smoker and cook the peppers until the bacon has crisped some, about 90 minutes; the time will vary depending on the thickness of the bacon, your smoker, and the weather. 8. Let cool a bit before serving. Enjoy!

1 tablespoon olive oil 1 pound thinly sliced round steak 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon fresh black pepper
2 tablespoons butter, divided 1/2 green bell pepper, diced 1/2 red bell pepper, diced 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 cups Cooper® Mason Jar Cheese Sauce 1 large bag corn tortilla chips
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add steak, salt, and pepper. Cook until steak is cooked through, then remove from heat and transfer to a plate. 3. In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Once butter has melted, add bell peppers, onions, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until onions start to brown, or 5 to 7 minutes. Return the steak to the pan, stir and sauté for an additional 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside. 4. Portion tortilla chips on parchment paper on a cookie sheet or ovenproof pan. Bake in oven for 5 minutes, making sure not to burn the chips. 5. Heat 1 1/2 cups of pre-prepared Mason Jar Cheese Sauce in a microwavable dish on high for 1 minute. Stir, then heat for another 30 seconds. Make sure the sauce does not scorch or burn. 6. Pour half of the Cooper® cheese sauce over the chips. Portion the steak, pepper, and onion mixture over the nachos. Drizzle the remaining hot Cooper® cheese sauce over the nachos and serve. Traeger / traeger.com
GRILLED JALAPENO CHEDDAR MEATBALLS

Ground Beef 1/2 cup tortilla chips, crushed 3/4 cup milk 3 fresh jalapeños, seeded and finely diced 8 oz. block of cheddar cheese, finely diced 1 Tbsp. paprika 2 tsp. garlic powder 2 tsp. Kosher salt 1. Place the crushed tortilla chips in a large bowl, then add the milk and allow to soften the chips for about 10 minutes. 2. After the mixture is soft and has absorbed all the milk, add the Ground Beef, jalapeño, cheese, paprika, garlic, and salt. Mix well to combine all ingredients, then scoop approximately 1/3 - 1/2 cup of the mixture and form a meatball, repeat until all the mixture has been formed into balls. 3. Place the meatballs on a plate or tray and refrigerate them for 30 minutes to firm. 4. Light a grill for two zone cooking. For charcoal: light coals and pile them all on one side, creating a hot and cool zone. For
propane: light the very end burner on the left or right side, but no other burners. It’s recommended you place a piece of foil under the side without heat to catch any melting cheese for easy cleanup. The grill should be at MEDIUM temperature, about 350-375°F. 5. Place the meatballs on the cool side of the grill (away from the coals or the lit burner) and close the grill lid. Grill for about 25-35 minutes, or until they reach 165°F internal temperature on a meat thermometer. 6. have tasted wines of different varietals and styles from all over the globe, and one of my favorites is Cabernet Franc. for many reasons: Its tastes can differ dependent upon the growing region it comes from; its versatility when pairing with food; and It’s great history. Those are just a few reasons. I took a bit of a deep dive into its history with this article and wanted to show you the many faces of Cabernet Franc and why….if you have not tried one… you should. When wine lovers discuss the world’s great red grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot usually dominate the conversation. Yet quietly standing behind many of history’s greatest wines is Cabernet Franc — a grape that has been shaping the wine world for centuries while increasingly earning recognition as a world-class varietal in its own right. Elegant rather than powerful, aromatic rather than overwhelming, Cabernet Franc offers remarkable versatility. Whether blended into Bordeaux’s legendary wines or bottled on its own from the Loire Valley, California, or Argentina, Cabernet Franc consistently delivers wines of freshness, complexity, and unmistakable character.
A HISTORIC BEGINNING
Cabernet Franc is one of the oldest known black grape varieties still cultivated today. Most ampelographers (Ampelography is the science of identifying, describing, and

DNA research conducted in the late 20th century confirmed that Cabernet Franc is one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon, having naturally crossed with Sauvignon Blanc sometime during the 17th century. This discovery means one of the world’s most famous grapes owes its existence to Cabernet Franc. Today, Cabernet Franc is planted on every major wine-producing continent and continues to gain popularity among growers seeking elegance over sheer concentration.

WHERE CABERNET FRANC THRIVES
ONE GRAPE, MANY PERSONALITIES
Although native to France, Cabernet Franc has found successful homes around the globe. France remains its spiritual home. In Bordeaux, it serves as a vital blending grape, while in the Loire Valley — particularly Chinon, Bourgueil, Saint-Nicolas-deBourgueil, and Saumur-Champigny — it is celebrated as the star of the bottle. Italy has become one of the largest producers outside France. Northeastern regions like Friuli and Veneto produce refined expressions, while Tuscany often

In California, warmer temperatures produce richer wines with ripe blackberry, plum, black cherry, cocoa, baking spices, and softer herbal notes. Washington State balances Old World freshness with New World fruit, often producing wines with exceptional depth, acidity, and aging potential. Argentina has become one of Cabernet Franc’s breakout success stories. Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards produce wines bursting with black fruits, violets, fresh herbs, mineral notes, and silky tannins. Many critics now consider Argentina among the finest producers of varietal Cabernet Franc outside France.
CABERNET FRANC’S ESSENTIAL ROLE IN BORDEAUX
Cabernet Franc has played an integral role in Bordeaux blends for centuries. While Cabernet Sauvignon often provides power, tannin, and longevity, Cabernet Franc contributes aromatic complexity and elegance. Its characteristics include: • Floral aromas of violets and lavender • Bright red fruit • Herbal freshness • Softer tannins • Earlier ripening • Lifted acidity Because Cabernet Franc ripens earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon, it performs particularly well during cooler vintages when Cabernet Sauvignon may struggle to fully mature.
