KNEE PROFESSOR STEPHEN MCDONNELL MBBS, BSC, MD, FRCS TRAUMA & ORTHOPAEDICS, MA (CANTAB) Stephen McDonnell is an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge and a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in trauma, knee, and hip surgery, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He was born and raised in London, later undertaking his medical training at University College London (UCL). After deciding to specialise in trauma and orthopaedics, he pursued orthopaedic surgery training at both the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and with the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in Australia. Professor McDonnell has obtained specialist knee and hip fellowships in Sports and Joints, acquiring valuable experience in sports injury surgery, keyhole surgery (arthroscopy) of the hip and knee, as well as joint replacement surgery for both the hip and knee.
HIPS He has undertaken medicolegal work since 2015 in personal injury and clinical negligence. He believes that every patient’s case is unique, and therefore each individual should be offered a personalised package of care and treatment tailored to their specific needs, as one size does not fit all. Lower limb fractures involve breaks in the bones of the leg, ranging from simple, non-displaced fractures to complex, multi-fragmented injuries. These fractures can significantly impact mobility and require proper diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation to ensure optimal recovery.
