Obituary

On August 4, 1960, in the peaceful seaside town of Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine, Jamaica, God blessed Lecester McCarthy and Maisie Stephenson with the precious gift of a beautiful baby girl, Patricia Leonora McCarthy. From the very beginning, Patricia possessed a gentle spirit, a warm smile, and a loving heart that would touch countless lives throughout her journey. Affectionately known as “Pat,” she was lovingly nurtured under the care and godly guidance of her devoted aunt, Miralda McCarthy Folkes, whose influence helped shape the woman Patricia would become. As a young girl, Patricia found great joy in the fellowship of Old Harbour Bay Baptist Church, where she enthusiastically participated in the Youth for Christ Ministry and lifted her sweet voice in the youth choir. It was there that her love for Christ took root—a love that remained the foundation of her life until her very last breath.

In 1977, God orchestrated a beautiful meeting that would forever change Patricia’s life. She met a handsome young man from the Turks and Caicos Islands named Calvert Hamilton. While Calvert was pursuing his ministerial studies, Patricia was attending Dunrobin Business College in Kingston. Their friendship quickly blossomed into a love that was genuine, unwavering, and deeply rooted in faith. On February 5, 1983, surrounded by family and friends at Boulevard Baptist Church in Kingston, Jamaica, they pledged their lives to one another before God. Shortly after their wedding, Patricia made the courageous decision to leave the familiarity of Jamaica and begin a new chapter in North Caicos, Turks and Caicos Islands. What began as a new home soon became the place where she poured out her love, built lifelong friendships, and faithfully stood beside her husband for the next 43 wonderful years. Their greatest earthly blessing arrived on January 12, 1984, with the birth of their beloved daughter, Caltricia, affectionately known as Joy, who became the

delight of Patricia’s heart. As the wife of Rev. Calvert Hamilton, Circuit Pastor of the North Caicos Baptist Association of Churches, Patricia embraced her calling with grace, humility, and quiet strength. She understood that ministry was not merely her husband’s assignment—it became her ministry too. Whether welcoming visitors, encouraging church members, supporting countless church activities, or simply standing faithfully by her husband’s side, Patricia gave herself wholeheartedly to the work of God’s Kingdom. While caring lovingly for her family, Patricia also pursued a fulfilling career. She first served as Secretary at Raymond Gardiner High School before joining Provo Power Company (PPC), now Pelican Energy, where she faithfully served for 34 years. Her colleagues admired her professionalism, reliability, and gentle spirit, while those who knew her best appreciated the kindness and sincerity she brought into every workplace and every relationship. Yet if there was one place where Patricia’s heart truly shone, it was in the service of the Lord. At Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, she faithfully led the Youth Ministries for many years, becoming

a mentor, encourager, and spiritual mother to countless young people. She was equally devoted to the Women’s Missionary Band, serving as Assistant General Secretary of the Turks and Caicos Islands Baptist Union Women’s Missionary Band, and found immense joy singing with the North Caicos Baptist Association Choir. Worship through song was one of the many beautiful ways she expressed her love for God. The Baptist Mission House in Bottle Creek was more than simply Patricia’s residence—it became a home filled with warmth, laughter, fellowship, and unconditional hospitality. Its doors were always open. Ministers, church members, neighbours, students, and children knew they would always be welcomed with genuine kindness. Many found comfort around her table, encouragement in her conversations, and peace simply by spending time in her presence. Patricia had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. To know Patricia was to know someone who genuinely cared. Family meant everything to her, and those fortunate enough to be called her friends quickly became family as well. She listened without judgment, encouraged without hesitation, and loved without condition. Her words were often filled with

wisdom, gentle humour, and unwavering hope. She had an extraordinary way of lifting the spirits of others, even when quietly carrying burdens of her own.

As we celebrate Patricia’s beautiful life, we are comforted by the words of one of her favourite hymns, a song that perfectly reflects the unwavering faith by which she lived:

Above all else, Patricia’s greatest joy was supporting her husband in ministry. She became his strongest encourager, his faithful companion, his trusted confidante, and, when necessary, his fiercest defender. She believed wholeheartedly in God’s calling upon his life and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make his ministry easier. No criticism of her beloved Calvert went unanswered in her presence, for she knew firsthand the sacrifices he had made in serving God’s people. Their partnership was a beautiful testimony of love, loyalty, faith, and unwavering commitment.

My faith has found a resting place, Not in device nor creed; I trust the ever-living One; His wounds for me shall plead. I need no other argument, I need no other plea; It is enough that Jesus died…

Even as her health began to fail and following Rev. Hamilton’s retirement from active ministry, Patricia’s faith never weakened. Though her body grew tired, her spirit remained steadfast. She continued encouraging others to trust in God and often reflected with gratitude on the incredible journey the Lord had taken her on—from the shores of Jamaica to a life richly blessed with love, family, ministry, and cherished friendships in the Turks and Caicos Islands. After courageously facing months of declining health, Patricia prepared for one final journey. It was a journey she could not take with Calvert or Joy by her side, but one she faced with the same quiet confidence and unwavering faith that had carried her throughout her life. Having fought the good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith, she peacefully answered her Master’s call. On Friday, July 3, 2026, Patricia Leonora Hamilton entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Saviour—the One she had loved, trusted, and faithfully served throughout her life. While our hearts ache because we will miss her gentle smile, her warm embrace, her wise counsel, and her steadfast love, we rejoice knowing that Heaven has welcomed home a faithful servant. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured, the family she cherished, the church she faithfully served, and the countless hearts she touched with simple acts of kindness and genuine Christian love.

PRAYER OF COMFORT | Bishop Colleta Williams THE COMMITAL | Reverend Pedro Williams HYMNS OF ASSURANCE When we all get to Heaven

It Is Well With My Soul

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace. In the mansions bright and blessèd He’ll prepare for us a place.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say It is well, it is well with my soul.

(Chorus) When we all get to Heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory! While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when travelling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh. Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay. Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open; We shall tread the streets of gold. BENEDICTION | Deacon Lewis Walkin

(Chorus) It is well with my soul, It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control: That Christ has regarded my helpless estate And hath shed His own blood for my soul. My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!— My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, “Even so”—it is well with my soul.

We Remember…

A LOVE THAT SERVED, A LIFE THAT STILL SPEAKS My Dearest Love, A woman of virtue, a woman of grace, there is no goodbye to the woman who was not only my wife but my closest and greatest earthly blessing, and my faithful partner in the work of God’s calling. A lifetime of togetherness somehow feels so short, I had came to your beautiful island as a young man pursuing God’s call upon my life, never imagining that alongside my calling to ministry, God was preparing you who would have walk that journey with me. You answered not only God’s call—but mine. You left the comfort of your homeland, your family, your friends, and everything familiar with you to begin a new life with me in North Caicos. You exchanged the known for the unknown, trusting that wherever God led us, He would be enough. The love and faith you carries remains priceless. You never looked back. Together, we built not just a home but a ministry. Through seasons of joy and seasons of trial, victories and disappointments, celebrations and

sacrifices, you stood faithfully beside me. Many knew me as Pastor, but they knew us as a team. You were never content to stand in the background. You loved God’s people with a genuine heart, welcomed strangers as family, prayed with the broken, encouraged the weary, and carried burdens that few ever saw. You ministered not because it was expected of you, but because Christ lived so beautifully within you. Your love for the Lord was the foundation of everything you did. It overflowed into your kindness, your generosity, your warm smile, and your unwavering faith. You taught our daughter what it meant to love Jesus by living that love every single day. Today, our five precious granddaughters carry a legacy that began in your heart. They may remember your laughter, your elegance, your beautiful voice, and your loving embrace—but my prayer is that they will also remember your unwavering devotion to Christ. You had a gift for making life beautiful. You loved fashion, and you wore grace with even greater beauty. You carried yourself with dignity and confidence, reminding us that excellence could honor God. Whether preparing for church, serving at an event, or simply going about your day, you reflected joy and elegance. And then there was your singing. What a blessing your voice was. You sang with conviction because you believed every word. Worship was never a performance for you; it was an offering. Though I will no longer hear your voice echo through our home or beside me in church, I can only imagine the song you now sing before the throne of our Lord. Today, my heart aches with a loneliness words cannot fully express. After forty-three years, every room reminds me of you. Every familiar place whispers your name. I miss your counsel, your laughter, your prayers, and the quiet moments we shared that no one else ever saw.

Yet even in my grief, I rejoice. Because the hope we preached together is now the hope you are living. The Savior you loved has welcomed you home. The faith you held onto has become sight. The songs you sang in worship have become the anthem of Heaven. As a pastor, I have stood beside many grieving families and reminded them that death is not the end for those who belong to Christ. Today, I must cling to those same promises. My tears are real, but so is my hope. Separation is painful, but it is only temporary. Thank you, my love, for choosing me. Thank you for believing in God’s call upon my life and making it your own. Thank you for every prayer whispered on my behalf, every sacrifice made without complaint, every sermon you encouraged, every hand you held, every life you touched, and every expression of love you poured into our family. Your work here is finished. Your race has been run. Your crown has been received. Though my heart longs for one more conversation, one more song, one more embrace, I rest in the assurance that this is not farewell forever—it is only “until we meet again.” Until that glorious morning when our Lord calls me home, I will cherish every memory, honor the legacy we built together, love the family we raised, and continue serving the God we both loved with all our hearts. Sleep peacefully, my darling. You have fought the good fight. You have finished your course. You have kept the faith. And I will love you... until faith becomes sight once more. Your loving husband, Your ministry partner, Until we meet again.

The wonderful stories you shared of your grandmother Celestine Perkins, and Aunty Muralda had engrave ambition, hardwork, family and trust. Healing has no time, and endless love has no end, only memories of all my life with you, can only be shared. Memories will be shared with my children, friends and families. You were not only my mom, but you were shared with as many people in the communities, islandwide and where ever you travel. Your interactions touched many lives, and I seen it closely with my adopted brothers and sisters. You were not only my mom, but you was also theirs. You never missed birthdays to sing a birthday song, even if it means waking me out of my sleep. Your singing brings me strength, drive, and peace. You were the main influence in my life, now you are no longer here. No more opera intro to calling my name. No more many calls each day, no more good night calls before bedtime. There is no more to many things, but there is everything to your memories, and it will always be shared, lived, and celebrated. W

hen I moved from Providenciales to North Caicos to live with my grandparents in 2023, my grandmother, or as I liked to call her, ‘Grammie’, was my biggest motivator and most enthusiastic cheerleader. She was my best friend, my second mother, someone I could go to to express all of my worries and fears. She gave me the best advice and truly put effort into helping me become a person she and myself could be proud of. We were so close that I missed her deeply when I was away from her for long periods of time; I would call consistently, even in the middle of the night, just to hear her voice. When I was depressed or anxious, she would lay a comforting arm on my shoulder and help me to relax. My Grammie was not only intelligent, outspoken, and charismatic, but she was also deeply caring and emphatic. She could brighten up my day with her warm laugh and clever quips. Knowing I’ll never be able to dial her number and chat for hours again makes my heart hurt. I know, as a recent graduate transitioning into the adult world, I have made her immensely happy. I will always be proud to call myself her granddaughter and I will never forget my beloved Grammie.

A TRIBUTE TO PATRICIA LENORA HAMILTON, “QUEEN P”. Today, I celebrate the life of my dear friend, Patricia Lenora Hamilton—our beloved Queen P—whose friendship blessed my life for more than 30 years. Mrs. Hamilton was truly one of a kind. She was my personal stylist, the go-getter in our circle, a woman who spoke her mind with honesty and conviction. Fiercely loyal and deeply loving, she possessed a heart far bigger than many ever realized. Though often misunderstood, she never apologized for being herself. She marched confidently to the beat of her own tune, embracing life on her own terms and inspiring others to do the same. She was a motivator, an encourager, and a woman of unwavering faith—a true child of God. Mrs. Hamilton carried herself with a sense of royalty, not because of titles or status, but because of the dignity, strength, and grace with which she lived. Relentless in her pursuit of serving others, she gave of herself generously and touched countless lives through her kindness, wisdom, and determination. Her presence could light up a room, and her words could challenge, comfort, and inspire all at once. She had a love for beautiful things, and she herself was one of life’s beautiful gifts. I will miss you dearly, my friend. Yet I find comfort in knowing that God only takes the best, and that the Queen now rests peacefully with her Savior. Though our time together on earth has ended, the memories of our enduring friendship will remain forever in my heart. Whenever I see a flower bloom in all its beauty, or hear a song filled with hope and promise, I will think of you. I will remember your strength, your faith, your fierce loyalty, your unmistakable spirit, and the laughter and love we shared over more than three decades of friendship. Rest well, Queen P. Your work is done, your crown is secure, and your legacy lives on in all who were fortunate enough to know and love you. Until we meet again, my dear friend, may you rest in the eternal peace and presence of God. By Kordell Campbell - Forbes

Sister Patricia Hamilton

A woman of sincere faith, compassion and integrity I first met my sister in law Patricia in the mid 80’s and our relationship steadily and lovingly grew to strong authentic ties. As the years passed I discovered that her character was nurtured by her dear aunt (mother), who I was privileged to meet many years later. Deacon Murelda Folkes was a member of a JBU church in her area, and lovingly steered her brother’s child Patricia, on the christian path, thus leading her to demonstrate a compassionate spirit and generosity to others needing help. Patricia and Calvert Hamilton met while he attended United Theological College, in Jamaica. The relationship blossomed into a fruitful marriage, having one daughter Caltricia “Joy” the love of their life and they devoted themselves to the work in the Turks and Caicos Islands Baptist Union Churches in North Caicos. Sister Patricia was constantly by my side after Hurricane Irma giving prayerful encouragement and goodwill. Such acts have been consistent with her, through the years to other individuals, even soliciting help from others to fill a need for someone. She was a “sister’s keeper” who intimately cared for others. Sister Patricia lived, 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”. She was a woman of charm and beauty, which was not superficial but emanated from her upbringing, notwithstanding obstacles and challenges along the way. During her recent illness, she was courageous and determined not to be easily defeated. I am forever grateful to have had her in my life. I am deeply saddened that we have lost a faithful, loving friend and sister in the Lord. Not only was she dutiful to her faith but also to the people she loved. Through the years, she has been known to demonstrate great compassion and generosity for others. She has always been hospitable to those she encountered. She fought the good fight, she has finished her course, she has kept the faith. Sister Patricia McCarthy Hamilton is now resting in the presence of our Lord. G. Lucille Lightbourne

Tribute to Mrs. Patricia Hamilton

I have known Mrs. Hamilton for over 27 years and she was such a good person to me. She taught me how to pray, to forgive, and to move on. I can recall when I was getting married and she was always there for me. She had bought my wedding dress and my hat. I can never forget that. She truly was such a great person to me and she will be surely missed. I believe her time spent here with us was truly cherished. In our hearts always, Paulette Forbes

TRIBUTE ON BEHALF OF THE EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH WOMEN MISSION BAND Today, we join together with grateful hearts to pay tribute to our beloved sister, Sis. Patricia Hamilton, a faithful and devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Women Missionary Band in Sandy Point, North Caicos. Sis. Patricia was a woman of unwavering faith whose life reflected the love of Christ in both her words and her actions. She was kind, compassionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and caring heart made everyone feel welcome and valued. She was known for her wise counsel and encouraging words. Whenever someone faced challenges, Sis. Patricia had a way of offering comfort, hope, and sound advice rooted in God’s Word. Her prayers, steadfast faith, and positive outlook inspired many of us to trust God more deeply and remain faithful during life’s trials. As sisters in Christ, we were truly blessed to share fellowship with her. Her dedication to the work of the church and her love for her family, friends, and community will always be remembered. Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in knowing that she has gone to receive her eternal reward. Sleep on, dear Sis. Patricia, and take your well-deserved rest. Your legacy of faith, kindness, encouragement, and love will continue to live on in our hearts. With love and deepest sympathy, Sis. Ruthamae Campbell, President The Mission Sisters of Ebenezer Baptist Church Sandy Point, North Caicos.

A Tribute to

MRS. PATRICIA HAMILTON It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Ms. Hamilton, my dear Ms. Pat. As her caretaker, I had the privilege of knowing her not only through the care I provided but through the beautiful person she was. Ms. Pat was strong, independent, and full of spirit. She had a way of making her presence known, and she brought warmth and life wherever she went. Beneath her strength was a kind and caring heart that touched many people, including mine. Ms. Pat was a woman of faith who trusted God through life’s joys and challenges. Her resilience, courage, and determination were inspiring to witness. She valued people, spoke honestly, and carried herself with dignity and grace. Even during difficult times, her spirit remained unbroken. Over the time we spent together, Ms. Pat became much more than someone I cared for—she became someone I cherished. I will miss our conversations, her smile, her unique way of seeing the world, and the strength she showed each day. She taught me lessons about perseverance, faith, and living authentically.
