Iextend heartfelt New Year’s greetings and warmest best wishes to the Bahamas Red Cross Society on the occasion of its 52nd Annual Red Cross Ball 2026, themed “Midnight and Moonlight: An Evening in Silhouette”, proudly sponsored by BTC, which stands as the premier fundraiser for the Bahamas Red Cross Society, the National Society of The Bahamas.
For 86 years, the Red Cross has stood as a pillar of service within the Bahamian community, beginning in 1939 as a branch of the British Red Cross, and later becoming the Bahamas Red Cross following the passage of the Act in 1975.
The Annual Red Cross Ball stands as one of the most distinguished philanthropic events in The Bahamas, offering a unique and meaningful opportunity for corporations, community leaders, and private citizens to come together in support of the mission of the Bahamas Red Cross Society.
The Ball serves as a cornerstone of fundraising efforts, generating essential resources that enable the Bahamas Red Cross Society to continue its mission of service. These funds not only support the organization’s administrative functions but also fuel a wide range of humanitarian programs that touch lives across the nation. Today, the Society delivers vital assistance through initiatives such as Meals on Wheels (a daily feeding program), Walk-In Assistance, Monthly Food Parcel Distribution, Disaster Relief, and Welfare Assistance Programs.
By uniting corporations, community
leaders, and private citizens in a spirit of compassion and solidarity, the Annual Red Cross Ball ensures that the Red Cross can sustain and expand its impact throughout The Bahamas.
I take this opportunity to commend Mr. Edison Sumner, President of the Bahamas Red Cross Society and Ms. Alicia Pinder, Director General, for their exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing the mission of the Society. I would also like to thank the Ball organizers, as well as those behind the scenes, for their tireless efforts.
I commend the distinguished Honourees of this evening, whose generosity and commitment to service embody the very spirit of the Bahamas Red Cross Society. They are rightfully recognized for their outstanding contributions and unwavering support of humanitarian initiatives:
Individual Honourees: Mr. and Mrs. Dionisio D’Aguilar; and Corporate Honouree: The Baha Mar Foundation
I also extend heartfelt recognition to Corporate Bahamas and private citizens whose unwavering support has sustained the Red Cross throughout the years. Their generosity and commitment have enabled the Society to broaden its reach, strengthen its programs, and respond effectively to the needs of the most vulnerable in our communities. May tonight’s celebration strengthen our shared commitment to compassion, service, and hope.
Message from
PHILIP E. DAVIS, KC
THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS
It is a pleasure to extend warm greetings to all who gather for the Fifty-Second Annual Red Cross Ball, a cherished tradition that continues to unite our community in support of one of the most vital humanitarian organizations in our nation.
Tonight, we come together in the spirit of generosity and fellowship, inspired by the theme Midnight and Moonlight: A Night in Silhouette. This theme invites us to reflect on the light that shines even in the darkest moments, a light that the Red Cross embodies through its compassion and service.
For more than half a century, the Bahamas Red Cross Society has stood with our people in moments of need. From disaster relief to community outreach, from feeding programmes to emergency response, the Red Cross has been there whenever Bahamians have faced hardship or uncertainty. The strength of this organization lies not only in its programmes but in the countless volunteers, donors, and staff whose dedication transforms care into action.
Their work saves lives, restores dignity, and strengthens the bonds that hold our nation together.
The funds raised this evening will support essential services that reach families in every corner of our islands. These contributions ensure that the Red Cross can continue its mission with resilience and readiness, especially in an era when global and local challenges remind us how important it is to invest in humanitarian support. I commend the Society for its unwavering commitment to the well-being of our people and for the compassion that guides every effort.
To the organizers, sponsors, and patrons of this event, I offer my sincere gratitude. Your generosity sustains a legacy of service and empowers the Red Cross to meet the needs of our communities with care and integrity. To all supporters gathered tonight, I extend my best wishes for an evening filled with joy and fellowship.
May the spirit of service that defines this occasion continue to inspire us all. May God bless you, and may God bless the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. 52ND ANNUAL RED CROSS BALL 2026

MYLES KENTWORTH LARODA, M.P.
On behalf of the Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, I extend congratulations to the Bahamas Red Cross Society on the occasion of its 52nd Anniversary as a National Society, and commend the organization for hosting “Midnight and Moonlight: A Night in Silhouette” in celebration of this remarkable milestone.
For over five decades, the Bahamas Red Cross has stood as a pillar of compassion, service, and humanitarian response, operating as part of the world’s largest humanitarian network. Here at home, its work has touched countless lives, providing relief in times of disaster, supporting individuals and families facing health and social challenges, and offering hope where it is needed most.
The mission of the Bahamas Red Cross - to serve all people, particularly the most vulnerable - closely mirrors the mandate of the Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting. Our Ministry remains deeply committed to protecting, supporting, and empowering Bahamians through strong social systems and meaningful partnerships. In this regard, our collaboration with non-governmental organizations, especially premier institutions such as the Bahamas Red Cross, is both unique and essential. Together, we strengthen the social safety net and ensure that care, dignity, and assistance reach those who need it most.
This anniversary is not only a celebration of longevity, but of impact — of lives saved, communities strengthened, and resilience built across our islands. I applaud the leadership, volunteers, staff, and supporters of the Bahamas Red Cross for their unwavering dedication and selfless service to our nation.
May this evening of elegance and reflection serve as a tribute to your legacy, and may the Bahamas Red Cross continue to shine as a beacon of humanitarian excellence for generations to come.
Warmest congratulations on 52 years of service to The Bahamas!

DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE BAHAMAS RED CROSS SOCIETY
Warmest welcome to another magical experience, the 52nd Annual Bahamas Red Cross Ball under the theme Midnight and Moonlight: an evening in silhouettes. I am encouraged by the support and generosity displayed here which truly exemplifies the power of humanity. Your support is not just appreciated—it is the essential ingredient that makes this and every other Red Cross fund-raising event a success. We were able to reach new level of achievements last year and previous years because you answered when we called for volunteers, donations or in some instances to take on the entire initiative.
It is through the collective efforts of Individuals, Corporations, Civic Groups, Government and Foreign agencies that we are able to fulfill our mandate. It is undeniably You, our treasured partners that make our resolve to alleviate human suffering in times of distress such as hurricane, fires, floods and the threat of not being able to provide basic needs such as a cooked meal possible. Your continued support is greatly appreciated as we traverse through the unchartered terrains of 2026.
I would like to take this time to congratulate our Individual Honorees for the evening, Mr. Dionisio and Saskia D’ Aguilar who are being honored for the generosity shown in donating to The Red Cross over the years. I would also like to congratulate Corporate Honoree Baha Mar Resort Foundation. They have supported our mission through sending teams to assist in preparing of food parcels, donation and preparation of food as well as monetary contributions. Thank you, Baha Resort Foundation for maintaining such a stellar partnership.
Thank you also to our Corporate sponsors BTC who through their sponsorship prove that they truly believe in people including the most vulnerable in our community. A special thank you this evening to our volunteers and to the Ball committee; chaired by Mrs. Kimberly Thurston and Mrs. Bernadette Bunch. You are indeed an incredible team.

52ND ANNUAL
RED CROSS BALL 2026
Message from KIMBERLY WRIGHT-THURSTON
THE CHAIR OF THE 2026 BALL COMMITTEE
Good evening, distinguished guests, partners, supporters, and friends.
Welcome. Tonight, we gather beneath a midnight sky—softly illuminated by the gentle glow of moonlight. As we celebrate the beauty and symbolism of “Midnight and Moonlight: A Night in Silhouette,” we are reminded of the resilience, compassion, and hope that define both our people and our nation.
Across time and cultures, midnight represents transition—a sacred intersection where endings give way to beginnings. It can be the darkest hour, stirring fear and uncertainty for some, yet for others, it holds promise, possibility, and renewal. Midnight invites connection and celebration, while also offering moments of reflection, stillness, and peace.
For many individuals and families across our country, midnight is not a moment on the clock—it is a lived reality. It is the vulnerability that follows disaster, the uncertainty after loss, and the daily struggle for dignity and stability.
And it is in those moments that The Bahamas Red Cross becomes moonlight.
We stand ready to illuminate paths through fear, desperation, and despair. Through disaster response, community outreach, and humanitarian programs, your support enables us to deliver critical services that save lives and restore hope. We are the steady, often quiet presence that cuts through darkness—offering guidance, comfort, and clarity until daybreak arrives.
With the unwavering dedication of our volunteers, donors, and partners, The Bahamas Red Cross remains a trusted beacon of aid and
compassion—serving individuals, households, and communities both nationally and internationally through their darkest hours.
Tonight, we proudly recognize and congratulate our individual and corporate honorees. Your continued commitment and generosity allow us to carry out our most vital work, and for that, we thank you.
To our 2026 Red Cross Ball Committee—your love, dedication, and tireless efforts over the past seven months have made tonight possible. You have truly become family, and I am deeply grateful to stand alongside such remarkable individuals. Thank you for your hard work and heart.
We extend our sincere appreciation to BTC, our esteemed Title Sponsor, who once again stepped forward in unwavering support of this event. Your partnership continues to strengthen our mission, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration.
I also wish to recognize The Zamar Group of Companies, whose partnership has been instrumental in making this evening a success. We thank you for your generosity and belief in our work.
As we celebrate tonight, let us recommit ourselves to shining light on the incredible mission of The Bahamas Red Cross. Let us reflect on how each of us can become the most radiant moonlight in someone else’s midnight.
And, of course—let us enjoy this beautiful evening together.
Thank you, and have a wonderful night.

BERNADETTE BUNCH
THE CO-CHAIR OF THE 2025 BALL COMMITTEE
Dear Sponsors and Ball Patrons,
On behalf of the Bahamas Red Cross Ball Committee, it is with sincere appreciation that we thank you for your generous support of the 52nd Annual Bahamas Red Cross Ball 2026, the organization’s largest and most significant fundraising event of the year.
This year’s theme, Midnight and Moonlight: A Night in Silhouette, set the stage for an elegant and memorable evening. The Ball Committee worked diligently and collaboratively over many months to plan and execute an event that would be both enjoyable and truly unforgettable for our guests. From concept to execution, every detail was thoughtfully considered to ensure an evening worthy of our sponsors, patrons, and the important cause we serve.
Your generosity and commitment are instrumental in enabling the Bahamas Red Cross to continue its vital work throughout the country. The funds raised through the Ball directly support a wide range of essential programs and services, including Meals on Wheels, the provision of food parcels in Nassau and across the Family Islands, impactful Youth Programs, and critical Social Welfare support for individuals and families facing hardship. These initiatives play a meaningful role in assisting the less fortunate and strengthening communities throughout The Bahamas.
We are deeply grateful for your partnership, loyalty, and belief in the mission of the Bahamas Red Cross. Your continued support not only sustains these important programs but also reinforces the spirit of compassion and service that defines our organization.
Thank you once again for standing with us and for helping to make a lasting difference in the lives of so many.
With warmest regards and sincere appreciation to you!
We look forward to seeing you at the 2027 Bahamas Red Cross Ball.

DIONISIO JAMES D’AGUILAR was born at Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau on October 15, 1964, to the late Vincent and Marina D’Aguilar. He spent his early years in Nassau, where he began his education at St. John’s College. In 1972, at the age of seven, he was sent to boarding school in England, where he completed his Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations over the next ten years.
In 1982, at his father’s insistence, Dionisio applied to and was accepted into Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. His father believed tourism, as The Bahamas’ leading industry, offered the best opportunity for employment at home. While at Cornell, Dionisio worked each summer in the hospitality sector and initially appeared destined for a career in hotels. Again at his father’s urging, he applied to Cornell University’s Graduate School of Management, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1986 and a Master of Business Administration in 1987.
name. In 1998, Dionisio and his brother Dayne co-founded Pest Control Bahamas, a commercial pest control and hood and duct cleaning company. Together, Superwash and Pest Control Bahamas employ approximately 170 Bahamians.
From 2007 to 2009, Dionisio served as President of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, ensuring the business community was strongly represented in national policy discussions. His business experience also led to service on the boards of Baha Mar, the Bahamas Electricity Corporation, and several BISX-listed companies.
From 2007 to 2017, Dionisio served as Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. In 2016, he entered politics, joining the Free National Movement and winning the Freetown seat in the 2017 General Election. From May 2017 to September 2021, he served as Minister of Tourism and Aviation, overseeing record tourist arrivals, the redevelopment of the Nassau Cruise Port, and the monetization of Bahamian airspace.
Rather than entering the tourism sector, Dionisio moved to New York City and began a career in public accounting, eventually qualifying as a Certified Public Accountant. In 1992, after more than twenty years abroad, he returned to The Bahamas and joined the family-owned company, Superwash, Nassau’s largest chain of self-service laundromats.
Except for a five-year period in politics, Dionisio has worked at Superwash for the past 27 years, first as Financial Controller and later as President and CEO. Under his leadership, Superwash expanded to eleven locations, introduced 24-hour operations, and maintained its position as a trusted household
A firm believer in education, Dionisio introduced a Superwash program supporting private school education for employees’ children and grandchildren, benefiting at least 60 students. With his wife Saskia, he has also privately funded education for more than 50 Bahamians and supported national educational initiatives. He is currently Chairman of the Charitable Arts Foundation and a Trustee of the D’Aguilar Art Foundation. Dionisio has been happily married to Saskia for 35 years, and they are the proud parents of two sons, Alexander and Vincent Oliver.
INDIVIDUAL HONOREE SPOTLIGHT
SASKIA SCHUTTE D’AGUILAR grew up in Europe and Asia, in a family where philanthropy and volunteer work were central values. As a teenager, she volunteered in an orphanage and assisted her mother when the family fostered babies and infants heading for new families. A lifelong advocate for animal welfare, she played an active role in caring for the dogs and cats her family rescued while living in Asia.
When Saskia and Dionisio D’Aguilar met in 1987, they knew early on that philanthropy would be a defining part of their life together. Since moving to The Bahamas in 1991, they have privately funded tuition and living expenses for 50 Bahamians from Nassau and the Family Islands pursuing secondary and tertiary studies at home and abroad. They have also supported numerous charitable and educational initiatives, including the Charitable Arts Foundation, the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute, the Lyford Cay Foundation’s FOCUS program, and the Bahamas Humane Society, while creating several not-for-profit organizations to advance art, culture, education, and sports.
After relocating to The Bahamas, Saskia took a full-time volunteer position at the Bahamas Humane Society, working long hours cleaning kennels, assisting with surgeries, and visiting schools to promote animal welfare. She later served as chairman of the BHS Charity Ball for ten consecutive years, raising more than one million dollars for the organization.
In 2007, she co-founded the Western Warriors Soccer Club, a community program serving youths from economically challenged families. The club offers divisions for boys and girls from age seven through adult men’s and women’s teams competing in the Bahamas Football Association leagues. With Dionisio’s support, the program is offered entirely free of cost, including uniforms, equipment, and transportation.
Saskia is best known for her passionate support of Bahamian art and artists. Fifteen years ago, she founded the D’Aguilar Art Foundation (DAF), dedicated to promoting Bahamian art and supporting local artists. The DAF enables artists to exhibit their work while retaining 100% of their posted prices, absorbing all exhibition costs as a service to the art community.
In 2023, the D’Aguilar family opened the 13,000 sq. ft. V&M Gallery, a private museum showcasing approximately 400 works from the D’Aguilar Family Collection, which now comprises roughly 2,200 pieces primarily by Bahamian artists. The gallery is open to the public and plays an important role in introducing Bahamian schoolchildren to the nation’s artists. The DAF also sponsors an annual global art travel grant and previously operated a weekly after-school art club from 2017 to 2025.
In addition to her charitable work, Saskia has served as Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands since 2017, is a board member of the Lyford Cay Foundation, and sits on the Acquisitions Committee of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. Educated at the Taipei American School, Singapore American School, and Cornell University, she worked in financial consulting before moving to The Bahamas. Guided by the belief that “no one has ever become poor by giving,” Saskia remains deeply committed to helping others, while enjoying gardening, travel, cooking, animal rescue, and life as the devoted mother of two sons and wife of Dionisio D’Aguilar for 35 years.
CORPORATE HONOREE SPOTLIGHT
At the core of the Baha Mar Resort Foundation is a simple belief: strong communities are the foundation of a thriving Bahamas. Guided by its pillars of Community, Culture, and Conservation, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and community groups working to strengthen social resilience, expand opportunity, and improve quality of life across the country.
Community support remains central to the Foundation’s work, delivered through strategic partnerships, financial contributions, in-kind assistance, and hands-on volunteerism from associates and partners. Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed nearly $5 million in financial support to charitable organizations and community initiatives across The Bahamas. As the Foundation continues to grow, it is increasingly focused on developing programmes designed for long-term, sustainable impact, ensuring that today’s investments help build stronger, more resilient communities over time.
Culture and the arts are an integral part of that work. The Foundation recognizes Bahamian culture as a living expression of identity—one that must be preserved, supported, and shared. Its longstanding support of the Valley Boys Junkanoo Group, one of the country’s most celebrated Junkanoo groups, reflects a deep commitment to safeguarding traditions that define The Bahamas at home and abroad. The Foundation also champions the visual arts, helping to elevate Bahamian artists and connect them with regional and international audiences.
Conservation begins at the resort itself, where environmental stewardship is embedded in daily operations and long-term planning. Baha Mar’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its Preferred by Nature certification, which recognizes responsible environmental practices and continuous improvement. Beyond the resort, the Foundation partners with the Bahamas National Trust to support environmental education, habitat protection, and national conservation initiatives that safeguard the country’s natural heritage for future generations.
Together, these efforts reflect a holistic, values-driven approach to national development—and underscore the Baha Mar Resort Foundation’s proud partnership with the Bahamas Red Cross Society in strengthening communities and building resilience across The Bahamas..

THE RED CROSS FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES
The Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality: these seven Fundamental Principles sum up the Movement’s ethics and are at the core of its approach to helping people in need during armed conflict, natural disasters and other emergencies. These principles unite the components of the Movement – the ICRC, the National Societies and the International Federation – and enable them to provide effective, unbiased assistance to people in need. They are mandatory rules of conduct that the Movement’s components are required to follow at all times, and States must respect this necessity. The Fundamental Principles are key to the Movement’s identity. Adherence to these principles ensures the humanitarian nature of the Movement’s work and brings consistency to the broad range of activities it undertakes around the world. The principles provide a common bond for the National Societies, which vary greatly in structure, culture and membership.
Humanity: The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours – in its international and national capacities – to prevent and alleviate suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for every human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.
Impartiality: The Movement makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress.
Neutrality: In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.
Independence: The Movement is independent. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement.
Voluntary Service: The Movement is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain.
Unity: There can be only one Red Cross or one Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory.
Universality: The Movement, in which all National Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.
