Obituary

On the morning of June 2nd,1939 Blackpoint’s best kept secret; a beautiful bouncing baby girl, Minnie Rolle was born to the late union of Susan and Melchizedek Bodie, on the picturesque settlement of Black Point, Exuma.

She received her early education at Blackpoint All Age School. She was briefly employed at the Stop-In Shop and with G.R. Sweeting. At the age of 21, she met her future husband, Salathiel Rolle, and their love led to marriage on February 26, 1960. From this union, ten children were born, four of whom predeceased her: Willimae, Salathiel Jr., Donathan, and Monique.

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above rubies.” Minne Rolle, a devoted and exemplary Christian, accepted the Lord at an early age. She wholeheartedly supported and labored alongside her late husband in ministry, serving faithfully as a servant of the Lord and His Church within the Church of God Bahamas Turks and Caicos.

Minnie Rolle was the anchor of her family when turmoil threatened on every side. She possessed a remarkable calm and strength of character that was deeply admired by all. She not only walked the walk but also talked the talk, living as a virtuous woman in whom God was well pleased. The following verses from 1 Corinthians 13 beautifully reflect the character of Mummy:

“ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”.

Her unwavering commitment and devotion to both her biological family and her church family were beyond measure. Affectionately known as the Candy Lady, she will be deeply missed. Her loving habit of sharing sweets to brighten faces and bring smiles will forever be remembered. As Ecclesiastes reminds us, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven.” Mummy understood that her time on earth was drawing to a

close. Though the weakening of her physical body presented challenges, she remained steadfast, continuing in worship and praise to her God. She embraced the words of the hymn My Savior First of All as her personal mantra:

When my lifework is ended and I cross the swelling tide, When the bright and glorious morning I shall see, I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side And His smile will be the first to welcome me.

Oh the dear ones in glory, how they beckon me to come, And our parting at the river I recall, To the sweet vales of Eden, they will sing my welcome home But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

Through the gates of the city in a robe of spotless white He will lead me where no tears will ever all, In the glad song of ages, I shall mingle with delight, But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

Oh, the soul thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face, And the luster of His kindly beaming eye; How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love and grace That prepared for me a mansion in the sky.

I shall know Him I shall know Him, And redeemed by His side I shall stand; I shall know Him, I shall know Him By the print of the nails in His hand.

On January 2, 2026, Mummy’s earthly journey came to an end. She is now absent from the body and present with the Lord, awaiting that glorious Reunion Day.

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN | Heaven’s Jubilee

Some glad morning we shall see, Jesus in the air

Coming after you and me, joy is ours to share

Seems that now I almost see, all the sainted dead

Rising for that jubilee, that is just ahead What rejoicing there will be, when the saints shall rise

In the twinkling of an eye, changed with them to be Headed for that jubilee, yonder in the skies.

All the living saints to fly, to that jubilee.

Refrain:

When with all that heavenly host, we begin to sing Oh what singing, oh what shouting Singing in the Holy Ghost, how the heavens will ring On that happy morning when we all shall rise

Millions there will join the song, with them we shall be Oh what glory, Hallelujah Praising Christ through ages long, heaven’s jubilee. When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies.

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN | Love Lifted Me

I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful shore, All my heart to Him I give, Ever to Him I’ll cling, Very deeply stained within, Sinking to rise no more; In His blessed presence live, Ever His praises sing. But the Master of the sea Heard my despairing cry, Love so mighty and so true Merits my soul’s best songs; From the waters lifted me–Now safe am I. Faithful, loving service, too, To Him belongs.

Refrain:

Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves; Love lifted me, Love lifted me, He will lift you by His love Out of the angry waves. When nothing else could help, Love lifted me; He’s the Master of the sea, Billows His will obey; Love lifted me, Love lifted me, He your Savior wants to be–Be saved today. When nothing else could help, Love lifted me.

GravesideHymns

WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace, In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place.

Refrain:

When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky, But when traveling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day, Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay.

Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold, Soon the pearly gates will open, We shall tread the streets of gold.

I’M A GLAD PILGRIM

Im a glad pilgrim on my way, going to glory land Jesus my only hope and stay holdeth me by the hand It is such joy to understand things that I never knew Keeping my promise to the Lord I’m going thru.

Chorus

I’m His, what a wonderful feeling in my soul He’s mine, He’s protecting me from the heat and cold I’ll do whatsoever He bids me I will do I know my Redeemer will lead me safely thru

Walking with Jesus all the way, singing a happy song Matters not if it’s night or day nothing can lead me wrong Feeling His presence ever near why should I weep or sigh Knowing I have a home in glory by and by.

Fully believing, trusting God, giving Him all the praise Leading me from the paths I trod ever my voice I’ll raise He will be with me to the end, comforting with His pow’r And He will be my closet friend in death’s dark hour.

GLAD REUNION DAY

There will be a happy meeting in Heaven, I know When we see the many loved ones we’ve known here below Gathered on that blessed hilltop with hearts all aglow That will be a glad reunion day.

CHORUS

A glad day, a wonderful day, A glad day, a glorious day There with all the holy angels and loved ones to stay That will be a glad reunion day.

When we live a million years in that wonderful place Basking in the love of Jesus, beholding His face It will seem but just a moment of praising His grace That will be a glad reunion day.

TRIBUTES

To Our Mother and Grandmother

Mommy was truly a kind and loving soul. In all my days, I have never known anyone who walked so closely with God as she did. She was the very embodiment of love, faithfully remaining on the straight and narrow path throughout her life. Mommy knew no wrong and, in her own quiet way, preached love every single day through her actions. She was gentle, soft-spoken, and endlessly compassionate.

Time spent with her was filled with invaluable lessons that will remain with us forever. She loved everyone unconditionally, and her love and legacy will be cherished for the rest of our lives. Grammy was a true prayer warrior, I have never known anyone who prayed as faithfully and continuously as she did. And what a giver she was; she gave freely and wholeheartedly, offering all that she had.

Grammy, I will miss our quiet moments, endless conversations and the encouragement you always gave so freely. Every chance I had, I would ask, “Grammy, you good?” and without fail you’d reply, “Still standing.” Your strength was remarkable. There is no one who could ever take your place, and you were the greatest grandmother anyone could ask for.

Words cannot fully express how deeply her presence will be missed. We have lost an irreplaceable angel. Though we loved her dearly, we take comfort in knowing that Jesus loved her best. We will carry your memory with us forever and we love you more than words can ever express, now and always.

Daughter/Granddaughter/Grandson:-Desma,Candice & Stephan

From Your Granddaughter Jade

The only way to describe my Grammy, all around she was as an impeccable person, full of love, full of Gods covenant and full of gratitude. I could always remember her telling me trust in God always. She always made sure that she got a word out about the Lord it’s so much memories to live on by. My Grammy was full of strength, a strong God fearing, giving lady who would never let you pass her by without her putting something in your hand, whether it’s a candy or couple of dollars. She would always tell you to live a Godly pure life.. I’m beyond blessed for her being my Grammy and the time she shared here on earth. God loaned us an angel and took her back in perfect peace into His kingdom.

I love you Grammy forever & always Granddaughter - Jade

To My Beloved Grammy

Same seven and six. Those words were your comforting refrain when I’d ask how you were. As life unfolded, you switched it up to “same seven and eight,” reminding me that life has a funny way of getting better, one day at a time.

From letting me come upstairs to preach my whimsical sermons to the trees, to always showing up with a jar of your delicious lemonade, you filled my childhood with joy. I’ll never forget those nights when you’d ask my mom if I could sleep upstairs with you while Papa traveled; those moments were like treasures, little gems of love that I’ll carry with me forever.

I love you endlessly and will miss you, sweet soul. Your hugs were like being wrapped in clouds or cotton candy—soft, warm, and utterly comforting. I’ll miss hearing your soothing voice just checking in on me. But I find peace knowing you’re resting now, my sweet girl, free and at ease.

You embodied what it means to be a virtuous woman—a true woman of God, blessed beyond measure. I feel so lucky to have had you in my life. You were the world’s greatest grandmother, and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

So, to my beloved Grammy, I love you so much. It breaks my heart to say goodbye to your physical presence, but knowing you’re still here in spirit gives me comfort. Your love will forever be a part of me.

From Your Son Martin

To mom, love forever will be always in my heart your battle is over now You will wear your crown rest in peace

Reflection on my Mom

My mom was my world from the moment I was born she became the epitome of love.

In my life- pure, unwavering and unconditional. Everyday she exemplified that love was not just a feeling, it is something you give without limits and without hesitation.

She gave so freely never asking for anything in return, whether it was of her time, her energy or her wisdom.

My mom was always there ready to support and care for anyone in need. Her heart made her truly special so pure- and full of light, she never held grudges, forgave quickly and showed the world that true strength lies in kindness and compassion. Her spirit was a beacon of positivity always offering advice that lifted you up and encouraging you to be your best self.

She was not just mom but confidant, friend and mother to all who crossed her path. Her advice was a gentle guide steering me through life with love and understanding. In the moments when life felt uncertain she was my constant “hey its ok” her love and presence grounded me giving me the encouragement to keep going.

I never imagined my world without her because in many ways she was the world I knew. Her words and actions still echo in my heart reminding me to live with the same grace, forgiveness and unconditional love she so readily displayed.

Heartbreaking that she is no longer physically here, her spirit lives on in me. She has taught me the power of love and the importance of kindness and I carry that lesson with me everyday.

The world feels different without her, but I know she’s with me in every step I take, in every act of love I share with others.

My world may have shifted but the foundation she gave me will never change. She will always be where my heart reside.

My baby and love of my life, your one and only alias “sista shell” Daughter, Rochelle
