NEW TIMETABLE OF ACTIVITIES FOR OUR BOARDERS Head of Boarding, Bunny Baker and the Sibford School House Parents have been working to create a new schedule of activities for our boarding pupils throughout the week. For the next 3 weeks, the activities are:
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING FAYRE FRIDAY 29 NOVEMBER 2.30PM - 5PM
Mondays Tuesdays
Christmas Retail Therapy Christmas crafts Gym for Sixth Formers Wednesdays Fun swim (fortnightly) Thursdays Cookery Activities change every 3 weeks and run Monday - Thursday nights. If your child would like to try boarding, email vbaker@sibfordschool.co.uk to find out more and to book an occasional boarding place or a regular slot.

The first 3 occasional boarding bookings will receive a 50% discount on their first night! If your child is staying for a sports fixture or school trip they receive 50% discount on the occasional boarding fee.

Eva is this week’s SFL learner of the week. We are celebrating her continued efforts in SFL and particularly her success in a difficult spelling and memory task. Well done Eva, we are delighted with your effort and progress!
COMPETITION TIME FOR CLIMBERS Good luck to our team of climbers who are competing in the next round of the Midlands Youth Climbing Series bouldering competition that takes place in West Bromwich this Sunday. Remember it isn't too late to sign up should your child want to be part of the Sibford School climbing team.

MUSIC MEETING SHOWCASES TALENT Staff, students and parents were treated to some marvellous performances at last Friday's music meeting. The official newsletter of
El Dorado High School teachers
Thea (Year 4), Emma (Year 12), Izzy (Year 10), Maia (Year 10) and Ali (Year 8) all took to the stage individually to showcase their singing talents and Nicholas ( Year 7) played Piano. The house band featuring Natalie (Year 12), Josh (Year 10) and Matt (Year 11) also performed, as did George and Ollie (Year 11). Thank you to all performers and we look forward to the next Music Meeting.
STAFF AND STUDENTS HELP FOR CHRISTMAS Staff and Students from across Sibford School have been busy filling and wrapping boxes with an assortment of gifts for those less fortunate as part of the FSCI (Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion) Christmas box appeal. The wrapped boxes will be sent and distributed to South Europe to children in need.

FIRE AND RESCUE PRESENTATION FOR YEAR 12 Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue came to talk to our year 12 students about road safety. The presentation was engaging and an extremely eyeopening realisation of the extreme consequences of making bad decisions. During the presentation James and Simon from Hook Norton Fire and Rescue Service focussed on two thinking points which were choices and consequences. Topics included driving when inebriated by alcohol or drugs, the importance of wearing a seatbelt, avoiding distractions, speeding, caution at junctions and staying visible as a cyclist or motorcyclist. The presentation was interactive, thought provoking and extremely beneficial as it comes at an important time of the year where the nights are drawing in and our sixth formers are learning how to drive.
OXBRIDGE ADMISSIONS TALK FOR STUDENTS We are delighted to be able to host a talk from Dr. Cressida Ryan who will outline the Oxbridge admissions process and answer questions from 6.30pm – 7.30pm on Thursday 5 December. This is a great opportunity for students to hear from a current University of Oxford professor. This event is open to students in Years 10 – 12. DISTRICT HOCKEY SUCCESS The U12 and U13 Hockey teams have both competed in the North Oxfordshire Sports Partnership Hockey Tournaments over the last two weeks. The U13's played brilliantly throughout and just lost the final by one goal to end up runners up in the District. The U12's had a strong semi final success and showed outstanding determination and focus in the final to take the lead and be crowned North Oxfordshire Hockey Champions 2019. This team is making so much progress and is currently undefeated. Both teams have now qualified to represent North Oxfordshire at the School Games County Finals next term. Well done all!
WELL DONE TO OUR KAYAKERS Well done to Harry and Michael who competed last weekend at the National Schools Kayaking Championships. They have trained really hard leading up to this event and we are delighted that they came third in both their Marathon and Sprint Events. An outstanding and well deserved achievement - Well done!

FARADAY CHALLENGE DAY This week Sibford hosted The Institute of Engineering and Techology. Two teams of Year 8 students took part along with teams from Wykham Park and Shipston School. There were a number of tasks to complete, including: Design and engineer a prototype to help Airbus transport and deliver aid to help people in times of need Complete a planning and events log to document how they designed and built their prototype The final task was presenting ideas to the Airbus judge. Teamwork was a major focus for the day and whilst at times both teams had some trying moments in the end the Sibford spirit shone through and both teams performed fantastically.
