This Folio by Shuvra Das was produced for the Post Graduate Elective course led by Fiona Harrisson under the MLA program at RMIT. Plant Thinking explores plants through observation and drawing in-the-field. Plants were explored as creatures of place; ‘.. as a creature of place, the plant is not mobile in the sense that an animal is, it is dynamic, connected, resilient, and in its ever-changing life, always in relation to the world into which it grows.’ (Holdrege, 2013: 1). We explored plants in two parallel sites - Fitzroy Gardens and Gresswall Forest. Both sites have a similar aspect and site conditions but contain very different plant communities. We carefully observed plant form, space, colour, etc., and how they grow in relation to other plants. Based on what we observed, we speculated on how the plants grow underground.
