Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Friends of the Ephrata Public Library will be holding their Annual Book Sale beginning Friday, October 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is an admission cost (children under 12 are free). The food stand opens at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 11 through Wednesday, October 15, there is free admission. On Saturday the hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (food stand closes at 1:00 p.m.), Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Book Sale is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Friends, who donate over $50,000 to the Ephrata Public Library every year. The sale takes place in the Ephrata Public Library lobby and offers over 30,000 items sorted into 40 different categories, which will be available for purchase. Learning Sessions To Be Held Have you been wondering how to prepare your child for Kindergarten? If so, please attend the free hands on learning sessions for all Cocalico School District residents with a child who will be attending Kindergarten in the fall of 2015. Parents and 2015 Kindergarten students should attend together. Sessions are led by Cocalico School District Reading Specialists, Kindergarten Teachers and Administrators, in an effort to prepare your child for Kindergarten. Sessions build upon each other, so participants are encouraged to attend each session. Sessions will be held on a rotating basis at each elementary building. Space is limited. Learning Sessions are conducted from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the following dates: • Thursday, November 13, Phonemic Awareness, held at Denver Elementary. • Thursday, January 8, Comprehension and Retelling, held at Reamstown Elementary. • Thursday, February 5, Math and Reasoning, held at Adamstown Elementary. • Thursday, March 12, Kid Writing and Reading Independently, held at Denver Elementary.
