The Ephrata Public Library will be hosting a very special program on Saturday, October 4 featuring former Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Janice Ballenger. Janice is the author of “Addicted To Life And Death,” a book she wrote which details her first-hand experience at the Nickel Mines tragedy as well as
a complete look at her career as a vehicle rescue tech, and time as an EMT. The book shares her many experiences as a Deputy Coroner and the myriad of emotions from despair to compassion to grace she has felt through her work. The program will also include a five minute crash course on

CPR, which can give the average person basic skills to save a life. Janice has also arranged brief talks by several friends including Kathy Good-Brinton (a registered nurse whose son committed suicide), Bill White (volunteer fire fighter) and Gayle West
