Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese Mrs. Tillett’s Clothing and Textiles class has been working diligently on a community service project, that involves creating decorative pillowcases for the Hershey Medical Center Children’s Hospital. Mrs. Tillett heard about these pillowcase projects from her Lebanon County Quilters Guild. She decided that this project was a great way to increase her students sewing experience and knowledge, while encouraging students to use their talents to give back to the community. Mrs. Tillett explained to the students that the hospital uses these pillowcases to help make the Children’s Hospital rooms feel more welcoming during their stay. This encouraged the students to do their best on the completion of their pillowcase projects. In total Mrs. Tillett’s Clothing and Textiles class will be donating 15 pillowcases to the Hershey Medical Center. Shown in the photo, from left to right, (front row) are Gia Garcia, Natalie Belousov, Brianna Keeney, Olivia Dobson, Sarah Nitsch, (back row) Natalie Bollinger, Azalie Breton, Shaelyn Gummel, Sabrina Burkholder and Danielle Ruffner.

Hope For Haiti Third Benefit Auction To Be Held Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese On Saturday, May 16, Life Connection Mission will be hosting the Hope for Haiti Third Annual Benefit Auction. This will take place at the Hertzog Farm, across from Metzler Mennonite Church, from 9:00 a.m. until the last item is sold. The day will feature a variety of food, kid’s games, and an auction; proceeds of the day will go towards our organization’s mission. They expect to have between 500 and 1,000 people in attendance. Life Connection Mission (LCM) is a Christian, interdenominational, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing hope and opportunities for self-reliance to impoverished children and adults in Haiti without discrimination. LCM understands that charity is not enough to rebuild a nation. Rather, the goal of the organization is to empower the people of Haiti to be self-sustaining by providing them with opportunities to access the necessary tools for improving their education, their employment level, their families, and their community. Shown is Katelynn Wright, Auction Coordinator, along with Christopher Shoff.
