The celebrations leave one messed up on the outside but cleansed, refreshed and rejuvenated from within There is learning in this. Our physiology and emotions are millions of years old, unaltered by any technological developments, but affected by modernity for sure. Increasingly, many people feel isolated, even excluded, and this creates stress and anxiety and, together with other factors like poor diet and lack of sleep and exercise, can mess us up big time. Group activity or celebration can become a stressful experience when this happens. There is no right way to celebrate, but as long as it leaves everyone feeling included and safe, it has a positive effect on our mental health and reinforces our belief in ourselves and the goodness of the world.

The Economics Society concluded ‘Iqtisadiyyat 2026’ on 8th February 2026, with speakers from various fields and backgrounds, analysing the theme “Cost of Conflict: Unraveling Power, Policy and Prosperity.” The event was designed to apply economic concepts to the current world scenario, especially in the growing time of turbulence. The keynote session was delivered by Ms. Yamini Aiyar, Former President and CEO of the Centre for Policy Research, who delved into the social aspects of the conflict and its impacts

A panel discussion titled “The World is BurningWho Pays the Price?” examined the trade-offs between different kinds of conflicts and the welfare of citizens

The panel consisted of Lt Gen D S Hooda, Mr T K Arun, Dr Happymon Jacob, and Mr Sunil Barthwal, moderated by Dr Punarjit Roychowdhury The event also included four national-level competitions, which attracted enthusiastic participation from teams from various colleges, including IIM Sambalpur, VIPS, and O.P. Jindal Global University. Fun, on-the-spot games were organised for participants at the event to play and learn new things during breaks The evening concluded with a light-hearted comedy show by Mr Mohit Mohrani and team

BRIDGING CLASSROOM LEARNING WITH REAL-WORLD FINANCIAL INSIGHT

The flagship finance summit, Finverse 2026, organized by Finvest at Shiv Nadar University, concluded successfully, marking a significant milestone in fostering financial literacy and industryacademia collaboration Designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world financial practice, the summit brought together over 250 participants, including students from institutions across India. The event offered a dynamic blend of keynote sessions, workshops, competitions, and startup showcases, creating an engaging and immersive learning environment.

The summit commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik, Chief Economist at National Stock Exchange, who shared valuable insights into the current financial landscape This was followed by a series of specialized workshops led by distinguished speakers: Prof Sankarshan Basu from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore conducted a session on derivatives, Abhishek Sharma from Athletes

Today explored the financial dynamics of sports, and Prosenjit Pal from NSE spoke on institutional research standards A major highlight of Finverse 2026 was its flagship competitions, featuring a total prize pool of ₹1,00,000 The NSE Research Paper Presentation Competition saw six finalists present their work before an academic jury, while Gridlock, an Excel-based challenge, witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 30 students. Adding an entrepreneurial dimension to the summit, Venture Lab (TVL) stalls showcased innovative student-led startups, encouraging interaction between budding entrepreneurs and participants. Overall, Finverse 2026 emerged as a vibrant platform for learning, innovation, and collaboration The event successfully strengthened the connection between academia and industry, while empowering students with practical insights into the world of finance The organizers extended their gratitude to all speakers, faculty members, partners, judges, participants, and the Finvest team for making the summit a resounding success

Around The World – The Languages and Cultural Club of Shiv Nadar University successfully organized“AnEveningofSufiMusic:AJourneyof Self-Discovery and Unity”, a culturally enriching event focused on artistic appreciation and interculturalunderstanding.

The event featured a live Sufi recital by Professor Shri Anandita Basu, accompanied by a talented ensemble of musicians and vocalists. It began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a graceful Kuchipudi dance performancethatsetareflectivetone

The program aimed to introduce students to the philosophical and artistic depth of Sufi music, highlighting themes of self-discovery, spirituality, peace, and unity By hosting a distinguished artist, the event created a platform for experientiallearningbeyondtheclassroom

The event saw an excellent turnout, with active participation from students, faculty, and staff

The audience remained deeply engaged, appreciating both the musical and cultural elementsoftheperformances

Overall, the event was a great success, fostering cultural awareness, community engagement, and meaningful artistic dialogue within the university.

CineU organised their curated screenings throughout the month of March, in B315 at 9 PM on Fridays The series was structured around three distinct thematic frameworks: Oneric Cinema, Latin American Third Cinema, and Yugoslav Black Wave Cinema These introduced participants to diverse cinematic movements and their historical, political, and aesthetic contexts. The selected films Persona (1966), Three (1965) , and The Motorcycle Diaries (2004) were carefully chosen to align with these themes while offering varied narrative and stylistic approaches Each screening was followed by an engaging discussion session, where students critically examined elements such as narrative form, symbolism, ideological underpinnings, and the socio-political landscapes shaping the films

The screening of *The Motorcycle Diaries* complemented the theme of Latin American Third Cinema by prompting reflections on political awakening and social realities, while *Three* provided insight into the stark, critical lens of Yugoslav Black Wave Cinema *Persona*, under the theme of Oneiric Cinema, encouraged interpretations centered on subjectivity, identity, and dream-like narrative structures The discussions saw active and enthusiastic participation, with students offering diverse perspectives and engaging in thoughtful dialogue, thereby fostering a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment The turnout each week highlighted the growing interest in alternative and global cinema among the student body

HACKDATA HACKDATA ’26 ’26

HackData 2026, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shiv Nadar University and sponsored by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), was conducted as a multi-event technical fest comprising Code Duels, TriNetra CTF, and a 24-hour Hackathon The event brought together over 150 students from various institutions, creating a vibrant environment of innovation and collaboration.

The event began with an opening ceremony inaugurated by Prof Rajeev Kumar Singh, after which participants moved to their respective venues Code Duels and TriNetra CTF witnessed enthusiastic participation and concluded the same day with a prize distribution ceremony conducted by Mr Tanish Sharma, Co-Founder of Billcut

Parallelly, the 24-hour Hackathon on the theme “Shared Autonomy” brought together teams from hardware and software tracks to develop innovative solutions During the hackathon, Mr Tanish Sharma (Billkut), Mr Rajendra Babu G (HPE), and Mr Dinesh Ram (AI Engineer) visited the hacking space and interacted with participants. After internal evaluations, the top 10 teams were shortlisted and presented their projects before a judging panel consisting of Mr. Rajendra Babu G, Mr. Dinesh Ram, and Prof. Dolly Sharma.

Alongside the hackathon, technical clubs of Shiv Nadar University showcased their projects, allowing visitors to explore student innovations

The concluding session featured talks by Mr Ajay Suneja (Adidas Software Engineer) and Mr Rajendra Babu G (HPE), who shared their industry experiences and advice for students.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where guests and faculty members felicitated the winning teams.

HackData 2026 successfully provided a platform for students to demonstrate their skills, interact with industry professionals, and engage in meaningful problem-solving.

The Clubs & Societies Championship 2025–26 was a university-wide initiative aimed at recognizing the contributions, creativity, and impact of student-led communities across campus The ceremony began with an address by the previous Cultural Secretary Aditi Mohapatra, who emphasized that the championship was not just about rankings, but about the people, passion, and culture built by every club and society The evaluation process followed a structured and transparent rubric, assessing parameters such as activities, collaborations, external participation, and upskilling initiatives The event also acknowledged the efforts of the Cultural Committee team and was held in the presence of esteemed faculty members whose guidance supported the initiative. More than just a competition, the championship highlighted collaboration, innovation, and community spirit, celebrating not only achievements but also the collective effort behind campus culture

BRIDGE

BRIDGE, SUMMIT 2026’s tea-and-discussionstyle event, was held at the Amphitheatre on the evening of 5th February With students and faculty coming together in an informal setting, the event truly lived up to its name by “bridging the gap” between disciplines, people, and ideas. The event kicked off with professors introducing themselves the subjects they teach, their areas of research, and even a few jokes setting a welcoming tone for the evening As conversations began to flow, students engaged with professors on topics ranging from projects and OURs to mentorship Of course, the piping hot tea and crispy samosas being passed around gave everyone another reason to stay back and keep the conversations going.

Shraddha, a second-year IR major, shared that she particularly enjoyed listening to Professor Iman from the History Department speak about his efforts to bring Economics and History together in his courses Ishaan Batra said that his interaction with Dr Kurt Horner especially hearing about his transition from structural engineering to academia in economics was highly motivating and inspired him to consider a similar path For others, the experience was more hands-on second-year ECE students Achyutha and Kaushik spoke with Professor Rakesh Palishetty about e-bikes and how to get started with projects, leaving with more clarity and direction.

WeBuilt Rockets. Seriously.

ShilpKulam- The Mechanical Engineering Society

If you heard a loud whoosh on campus last weekend, that was us. Over the course of a week, three teams gathered every evening to build their own model rockets from scratch no prior experience, no engineering degree required. The energy in the room grew with every session, and by the time Saturday and Sunday rolled around, it was full launch mode. Rockets tore through the sky, hitting heights that had everyone craning their necks and pulling out their phones. Around 12 rockets were launched across the two days, each one a little proof that yes, we actually built that. It was messy, loud, and honestly one of the coolest things we've done on campus yet. Watch the skies we're just getting started.

BASKETBALL 3X3 CHAMPIONSHIP

The tournament also featured an exciting Three-Point Contest, where SS Nandan claimed victory with remarkable accuracy and composure in a closely contested shootout Several matches throughout the tournament stood out for their intensity, including buzzerbeaters, rapid three-pointers, and strong defensive displays The girls’ final, in particular, went into overtime, highlighting the determination and competitive spirit of the players The presence of an energetic crowd comprising students, faculty, and staff further amplified the experience

The Open Mixed Volleyball Tournament was successfully conducted at the Outdoor Volleyball Court of Shiv Nadar University from February 27 to March 1, 2026. Organized by the Sports Department, the tournament aimed to promote inclusivity and teamwork through a mixed-team format requiring two girls and four boys on the court The event saw participation from seven teams and was marked by high energy, competitive spirit, and excellent sportsmanship Over three days, players showcased skill, coordination, and determination, contributing to a vibrant sporting atmosphere on campus

OPENMIXED VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

The tournament followed a league-cum-knockout format, ensuring competitive balance and multiple opportunities for teams to perform. Teams such as DOPE, Seniors, Volley Lamas, Air Force, Titans, Hawkeye, and Tuchki Tuyyain competed intensely across pool and knockout stages Many matches were closely contested, often ending in narrow margins, reflecting the evenly matched nature of the competition and the high level of play throughout the event

As the tournament progressed into the knockout rounds, the intensity peaked Seniors and Titans advanced through the quarterfinals, while Hawkeye and Volley Lamas secured semifinal spots In the semifinals, Seniors defeated Hawkeye, and Volley Lamas overcame Titans to reach the finals The final between Volley Lamas and Seniors was the highlight of the tournament, ending in a thrilling 3-2 victory for Volley Lamas, who were crowned champions, while Seniors finished as runners-up

The SNU Squash Knockout Championship 2026 was successfully conducted from 25th to 27th March at the university squash courts, promoting sportsmanship, competitive spirit, and active student participation The tournament featured both Men’s and Women’s categories, with the Men’s competition structured into qualification rounds followed by a main draw, while the Women’s category followed a direct knockout format.

SNUSQUASH KNOCKOUT CHAMPIONSHIP2026

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, high-intensity matches, and strong crowd support, showcasing impressive levels of skill, fitness, and determination among players Smooth scheduling across multiple courts and efficient coordination ensured the seamless execution of the championship,

making it a vibrant addition to the university’s sporting calendar In terms of results, Aditya V emerged as the Men’s Champion, with Ranvijay Arya finishing as the Runner-up In the Women’s category, Anahita Elias Gopinath secured the Winner’s title, while Avni Trivedi was declared the Runner-up. Overall, the championship was a great success, contributing positively to SNU’s sports culture and encouraging wider student engagement in athletics.

HCL CYCLOTHON 2026

Ms Prerna Agarwal (MSc Economics) secured 3rd position in the 18–30 age category in the 23 km MTB Road Race at HCL Cyclothon 2026 Her achievement highlights endurance, determination, and strong competitive spirit in the event

The Open Badminton Tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation with 135+ participants, including students, staff, faculty, and residents. The event featured multiple categories such as Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Women’s Doubles. In the Women’s Doubles category, Puja Shriyadita and Bala Kauthami emerged as the winners, showcasing excellent teamwork and skill.

Open Badminton Tournament

A standout weekend for Nadine Balaji (1st Year, B-Tech CSE) at the KTM Cup Indian Championship, where she competed in the Women's Category and delivered a composed and fighting set of performances across three races, finishing P3, P4, and P4 respectively

The highlight of the weekend came in Race 1, where Nadine recovered from a difficult start that saw her drop to P13, working her way methodically through the field to claim a podium finish in P3 A recovery of that nature demands not just pace, but racecraft, composure, and sheer determination.

She narrowly missed P3 in the overall championship standings, finishing just 3 points shy a result that speaks to the consistency she showed across the entire race weekend

Off the track, Nadine had the rare opportunity to share the circuit with and interact with three-time MotoGP World Champion Dani Pedrosa, one of the greatest riders the sport has ever seen An experience that will no doubt leave its mark on her development as a racer.

Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence offers undergraduate students a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience and develop essential skills through the OnCampus Jobs (OCJ) program. Eligibility and Selection Process:

Open to undergraduate students from Second Year onward, with a CGPA above 6.0 (and specific master’s programs related to Teaching Assistantship), OCJ positions are advertised through email communication. Eligible students can apply if the job description aligns with their interests and skills. The selection process is similar to a formal job recruitment pattern. Departments conduct interviews and offer positions to qualified candidates.

Benefits and Compensation:

Competitive Hourly Pay: During a semester, students earn ₹100 per hour, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. During vacations, the compensation is ₹75 per hour, with a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Reduced Summer Hostel Fees: Students engaged in OCJs during summer vacations may have their hostel fees covered by the sponsoring department.
