Dear Sacred Heart community, There is so much to celebrate at Sacred Heart! I am honored to share with you the collective generosity of the School community in what we all will agree has been a most unusual year. As we celebrated the dedicated service of Mrs. Pamela Juan Hayes ’64 and began the transition to a new Head of School, we gathered on campus in mid-February at our State of the School event. I was thrilled to address parents, faculty and staff, Trustees, and alumnae. The theme of my remarks rings as true today as it did then: it's a great time to be a Sacred Heart girl! Little did any of us know that in four short weeks, the School would be on lockdown and participating in remote learning. The spirit of our intrepid Foundresses rallied the troops; students, faculty, and staff members pivoted to remote learning and maintained personal ties to the community. That same perseverance, optimism, and faith gave us the vision to plan in the late spring and throughout the summer for our glorious return to campus. This planning required us to

reimagine our classrooms, technology, nurse’s suite, HVAC system, and outdoor spaces. In short, it took the “courage and confidence” to reimagine how backto-school would look and feel in the COVID-19 reality. I am proud to say that with your support and continued confidence in the School, we have achieved our goal of having “Every girl, every day” on campus throughout the fall. My hope remains that the light of King Street shines bright. In Matthew 5:14, we are reminded, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.” My deep gratitude to you for helping us shine our light and share it with so many others.

New Trustees

Maureen Mara Brown ’82, P’19 graduated from Sacred Heart Greenwich and went on to earn a BS from Boston College and an MA at Fordham University. Maureen has served on the GreenwichMaplehurst Alumnae Board of Sacred Heart Greenwich for the past five years and helped to develop the community-wide Global Day of Service event. Maureen and her husband, Doug, have five children. She and her family lived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, for 20 years, where two of her daughters attended the Academy of Sacred Heart. After moving back to Greenwich CT in 2014, her youngest child, Lily, graduated from Sacred Heart Greenwich in 2019.

Elizabeth Fallon ’89, P’22, ’25 graduated from Sacred Heart Greenwich in 1989 and went on to Georgetown University, where she earned a BA in history. She also holds an MA in elementary education from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Prior to becoming a teacher, she was a recruiter in the investment banking division at Salomon Smith Barney, Lazard Freres and Heidrick & Struggles. Lisa served for six years on the Sacred Heart Greenwich Board of Trustees. She returned to the Board as an ex officio member in her role as the Parents’ Association President. Lisa was the recipient of the 2019 Sacred Heart Greenwich Outstanding Alumnae Award. Lisa and her husband, Bill, live in Rye with their three children, Charlotte ’22, Billy, and Daphne ’25.

Regina Fay Gannon P’23, ’28 graduated with a BA from Georgetown University and earned an MBA at the University of Chicago. She is a graduate of Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart ’86. She is currently a managing director at BlackRock and co-head of the Aladdin Client Engagement team in the Americas. In this role she leads the firm’s largest pension fund, endowment, corporate treasury, asset management, and Latin American client relationships across BlackRock’s Aladdin business. Regina is on the Board of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and is active with alumni fundraising at Georgetown University. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, Frank, and their four children, including Charlotte ’23 and Margot ’28.

Sandie O’Connor P’19, ’23 holds a BS from NYU’s Stern School of Business. She serves on the Investment Committee of Sacred Heart Greenwich and is a co-chair of the One Heart Committee. Sandie recently retired as the chief regulatory affairs officer for JPMorgan Chase, where she set the firm’s comprehensive regulatory strategy and led engagement with G-20 policy makers regarding evolving regulation. Prior to this role, Sandie held several senior leadership positions at the firm, including global treasurer and head of Prime Services. Sandie and her husband, Frank, live in Greenwich with their daughters, Emma ’19 and Laura ’23.

JULY The Class of 2014 was announced as the winner of the Young Alumnae Spirit Award for the second year in a row. During Summer Enrichment, students performed selections from the seasonally appropriate and always fun, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students participated in Network Service programs all over the country. AUGUST Students and alumnae traveled to Lourdes for the Ampleforth Pilgrimage. Families visited the original Mater Admirabilis fresco at the Trinità dei Monti in Rome, Italy. The newly renovated Class of 2020 Core Center is unveiled to seniors and their parents! SEPTEMBER We celebrated our 171st academic year with the annual Opening Day Prayer Service. Students and families came together for a day of fun at the Fall Festival. Over 250 alumnae gathered for awards, cocktails, and conversation at Reunion 2019. OCTOBER Middle and Upper School mothers and daughters took part in special liturgies to honor their bond and Mater Admirabilis. Fathers’ League members took to the terrace to enjoy an Oktoberfest celebration. Spooktacular children of alumnae came together to enjoy a Halloween playdate. NOVEMBER Students, parents, and alumnae celebrated Goal III with a community-wide Day of Service. Grandparents and special friends of Lower School students visited King Street for classroom visits and performances. Varsity Field Hockey won the 2019 New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Class A Championship for the first time in school history. DECEMBER The Senior Class celebrated 100% participation in the Fund for Sacred Heart. Third and seventh graders used their combined powers to generate clean and sustainable wind turbines. Come Home for Christmas weekend brought our community together to support faculty and staff professional development.

JANUARY The Board of Trustees announced Meg Frazier as the 34th Head of School. College-aged alumnae congé inspired Upper School students in the throes of the college process. Middle Schoolers went “into the unknown,” transforming de Csepel Theatre into the set of Frozen JR! FEBRUARY Incoming Head of School Meg Frazier headlined the first annual State of the School event. The alumnae Give from the Heart event raised over $32,000 for financial aid. Middle and Upper School students took home an impressive 93 Scholastic Writing Awards. MARCH March kicked off with a strong start and dynamite performance of Matilda the Musical by Upper School students. Upper School students participated in the Writers Festival, and Lower School students participated in the Greenwich Girls Math Festival. With a swift and successful transition to remote learning, Sacred Heart donated PPE from art and science classrooms to healthcare workers. APRIL The virtual Film Festival featured outstanding documentary, creative, and experimental films and public service announcements. Alumnae kicked off a series of virtual wellness and careers courses, and the entire community joined together for Holy Week virtual prayer services. 16 members of the Class of 2020 were inducted into the Cum Laude Society. MAY A virtual Mater Society celebration honored the 20 "lifers" of the Class of 2020. Second graders showcased their annual Wax Museum virtually for all to enjoy. Juniors celebrated Ring Day with a drive-through car parade. The All-School Art Show went virtual to share beautiful artwork and photography from all three divisions. JUNE Graduates received their diplomas in a festive car parade prior to commencement in July 2020. Head of School Pamela Juan Hayes ’64 received the Woman of Spirit Award in recognition of her leadership and devoted service. Alumnae organized a panel discussion on how to use media for social change. The Board of Trustees announced the formation of the One Heart Committee.

2019 Summer

Outreach GOLF & TENNIS OUTING

Since 1991, as part of its mission, Sacred Heart Greenwich has opened its campus and resources to nurture hundreds of young authors, artists, scientists, scholars, and athletes from local, low-income families. This five-week, full-day Summer Outreach Program provides enrichment for 260 academically qualified boys and girls, grades 2–8, many of whom qualify to receive free lunch in their public schools. The annual Golf and Tennis Outing is the major source of funding for Summer Outreach. We welcomed members from the Varsity Tennis Team and the Varsity Golf Team for some friendly competition. The Outing was held at Burning Tree Country Club on September 23, 2019, and netted more than $120,000. Mission

Sacred Heart Greenwich, founded in 1848, is an independent Catholic, college preparatory school for young women from kindergarten through grade 12, with a coed early childhood education program. Sacred Heart, steeped in a solid academic tradition, educates women to have independence of judgment, personal freedom, and strength of character so that they can become leaders with broad intellectual and spiritual horizons. The Fund for Sacred Heart

The Fund for Sacred Heart seeks contributions to support the school’s operating budget to ensure that the best resources are available to directly enrich the lives of our students and our community. Tuition alone doesn’t cover the full cost of educating each Sacred Heart student. Money raised through annual giving is spent in that same year, making it vital for Sacred Heart to meet its annual fund goal every year.

Senior Class Gift Started in 2003, senior class parents have contributed more than $3.5 million to the endowment, scholarships, and vital initiatives based upon the school’s needs. Each year, parents of the Senior Class are asked to make a major gift which can be paid over two to three years, in lieu of their contribution to the Fund for Sacred Heart.

Capital and Major Gifts New construction, renovation projects, and restricted gifts to financial aid or other priorities as identified by the school all benefit from major gifts. These gifts help the school to fulfill long- and short-term needs that fall outside the annual unrestricted goal of the Fund for Sacred Heart. Major gifts are transformational and are acknowledged with naming opportunities and other special recognition.

Leaving a Legacy Planned gifts such as bequests, IRAs, and beneficiaries of retirement funds secure the school’s future so the next generation may benefit from the same exceptional academic and social experience. The donors who have named Sacred Heart Greenwich as the ultimate beneficiary of a planned gift are welcomed as a member of the Aloysia Hardey, RSCJ Society.
