Official Greetings from the Founder

The Sundar Prize Film Festival is a proud initiative of Sher Vancouver, a registered charity that has served Surrey and its neighbouring communities for nearly 17 years through arts, culture, and social services.

Rooted in social justice and guided by the values of empathy, inclusion, and advocacy, this festival is more than just a celebration of cinema — it’s a platform for truth-telling, for amplifying the voices of the unheard, and for using the power of film to inspire meaningful change.

As a social worker and community organizer, I believe deeply in the transformative power of storytelling. The representation of BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, women, immigrants, and other marginalized communities is not just important — it’s essential. When our stories are seen and heard, healing begins, bridges are built, and justice becomes possible.

Wishing the festival continued success in building a more compassionate and equitable world, one film at a time.

Warm regards,
