Summer Invitational 2026
The Summer Invitational at Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art is our annual celebration of new work by gallery artists and a chance to spotlight new voices from the Kansas City region. This year’s exhibition brings together painting, photography, ceramics, and mixed media in a lively cross-section of contemporary art practices.
We’re pleased to debut works by artists new to the gallery who bring fresh perspectives alongside artists with a long history of exhibiting with Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art. The exhibition features a total of 28 artists, from coast to coast -- and of course, many from the Kansas City area.
Together, these works offer a dynamic glimpse into the evolving conversations taking place in contemporary art today. They are rooted in place, layered in meaning, and alive with material experimentation. This catalog offers a preview of the works on view, but we invite you to visit the gallery to experience them in person. There’s no substitute for seeing the scale, surface, and presence of the work firsthand.
