PHOTOJOURNALIST / MULTIMEDIA CONTENT CREATOR: SHERIDAN MEDIA — SHERIDAN, WYOMING.
Position Summary
Sheridan Media is looking for a dependable and motivated Photojournalist / Multimedia Content Creator to help cover local sports and news throughout Sheridan County. This position is responsible for capturing photography and video at high school sporting events, community activities, and breaking news, then preparing that content for our websites, social media, and broadcast platforms. This is a community-focused, field-based position
— you will spend much of your time attending local events rather than working in an office.
Responsibilities
• Photograph local high school and community sporting events.
• Capture and edit video highlights for web and social media.
• Cover local news, community events, and features.
• Upload and organize photo galleries for publication.
• Assist with livestream sports broadcasts when needed.
• Write captions and brief summaries for stories.
• Work with reporters, sports staff, and the digital team.
• Maintain cameras and assigned equipment.
• Provide visual content for promotional and marketing projects as assigned.
Schedule
This position requires a flexible schedule including:
• Evenings.
• Weekends.
• Occasional holidays during sports seasons.
Qualifications
• Interest in journalism, photography, sports media, or communications.
• Photography experience (school, freelance, or professional).
• Basic video shooting and editing skills preferred.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Reliable transportation.
• Professional interaction with the public, coaches, and officials.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all Wyoming weather conditions.
Preferred Skills (not required):
• Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
• Video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar).
• Knowledge of local sports.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to carry camera equipment (20–30 lbs).
• Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
