JOB OPENING: Assistant Farm Manager

University of Wyoming Sheridan Research and Extension Center Sheridan, Wyoming Assist in the management and supervision of all aspects of the Sheridan Research and Extension Center; to manage, supervise and perform farming duties, as well as to provide research support as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage, supervise and participate in the irrigation, fertilization, application of chemicals, harvesting of hay and care of farm equipment. • Operate, maintain and repair equipment used in agriculture and farming. • Work as liaison with substations and supply companies on agriculture products. • Assist faculty in conducting research and data collection. • Conduct safety awareness at all times. • Work as a team member at Agriculture Experiment Station with the entire crew. • Regularly scheduled weekends/on call may be part of this position. • Move up to 100 pounds regularly with or without reasonable accommodation. • Full time, benefitted position. This position involves on-call status. • Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy. • Valid Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

pounds lean ground beef medium onions, chopped cloves garlic, minced or pressed 28-ounce can diced tomatoes tablespoon Mexican chili powder teaspoons ground cumin teaspoon salt teaspoon curry powder teaspoon cayenne pepper (or one small fresh jalapeño pepper, minced, or both) 19-ounce cans red kidney or pinto beans, drained and rinsed

In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine the ground beef with the onions and garlic, and cook, stirring to break up the clumps, until the meat is no longer pink and the onions are softened — about 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, curry powder, and cayenne or jalapeño, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add the beans and cook for another 30 minutes, stirring often. Serve this chili sprinkled with shredded cheese and accompanied by plain rice or freshly baked corn bread. If the chili is too spicy for you, a spoonful of plain yogurt or sour cream will help cool things down.
