GOOD MEWS!
In a recent Sunday discovery, a tiny and loving cat was found at the Holiday Inn Express in Shelbyville.
She was in distress, her leg ensnared in her collar, impeding her movement and causing her pain.
This was a cat that needed help right away – but the municipal shelter is closed on weekends. However, the community rallied together and made sure she had food and water until they could find her help.
Eventually, the community tagged us in numerous lost and found pet groups on Facebook.
She was rushed to the vet as soon as an appointment became available on Wednesday morning. There, the vet

uncovered that she was already spayed and microchipped—a small miracle amidst the chaos.
The cat’s name was Pria, and her microchip led us to a man in Franklin, an amazing 35 minutes away from where the kitty was found. After a few exchanged texts and phone calls, Pria was joyfully reunited with her dad that very evening!
This heartwarming reunion serves as a powerful testament to your generosity and to the compassionate cat lovers in our community.
And Pria's remarkable journey shows the importance of our community cat program!

You're Not Kitten Around: Saving a Raccoon with Your Support
Another Sunday, another urgent call for help.
This time, it wasn't a cat in distress but a teenage raccoon trapped in a leg snare, dragging it along in agony.
Brenda spotted the raccoon near the Bible Mission Church on Miller Street. This prompted volunteers Dawn and Dee to act without hesitation.
We asked Jen Hancock at Hancock Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation for help. Jen immediately agreed to take in the raccoon and provide the necessary care.
“Thank you for helping me escape this trap and find freedom again. Your kindness knows no limit.” --the raccoon
Jen found that the leg trap was actually a snare. It worked like the old finger trap toys. The more the raccoon struggled, the tighter the trap constricted around its limb. This posed a grave danger to wildlife and to our community
Once recovered,he will be released back to his neighborhood, just like community cats after spay/neuter!
cats that roam the same areas.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threats faced by animals in our community.
