Whether you’re a familiar face or have never visited before, we invite you to stop in and see all that our Center has to offer. There’s always a warm welcome, friendly conversation, and something exciting happening! One of the most important events this time of year is Medicare Open Enrollment. Our counselors provide free, unbiased assistance to help you make informed decisions about your Medicare coverage. If you enjoy reading, sharing ideas, or putting your thoughts on paper, we invite you to join our Book Club, which meets at 1 p.m. on Dept. 8, or our welcoming Writers Group at 1 p.m. on Sept. 21. Both groups offer a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends while enjoying great conversation and lifelong learning. Our Caregivers Support Group will meet Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. Caregiving can be both rewarding and challenging, and no one should have to do it alone. This group offers encouragement, practical resources, and the comfort of connecting with others who truly understand the caregiving journey. Start your morning with good
Golden Meals Golden Meals is a local non-profit organization that provides $3.25 meals to our 60-plus senior community and $6.25 for our 59-and-younger community, Monday through Thursday at our site. Please watch the menu calendar as they will be providing meals on select Fridays. The Golden Meals calendar will be posted on our Facebook page and sent out in our monthly member’s newsletter. Thank you to everyone who has been coming for lunch! The turnouts have been great, and the food is always super yummy!!

Caregiver tip It may be hard to leave your loved one in someone else’s care, but taking a break can be one of the best things you do for yourself and the person you’re caring for. Respite care provides shortterm, temporary relief for primary family caregivers. It allows the caregiver to rest, travel, or attend to personal matters while a facility takes over care duties for a few hours. Please reach out to our Outreach staff for more information on how you can receive respite care for your loved one. Contact us at 815-622-9230. Let us help you help your loved one!
The senior centers do not require duration of residency or citizenship as a condition of participation in any services or programs funded by the Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging. Residency or citizenship may be a requirement for other programs that the senior centers may provide assistance with in application or accessing of same. Services are made available, in part, with funds provided under Title III-B of the Older American Act, and the Illinois General Revenue Funds, through the Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging.
