Christi Vallado and Eric Cantu were united in marriage at 5 p.m. Oct. 17, 2015, at Granberry Hills in San Antonio. The Rev. Steven Knechtel officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Jesse Vallado and Nancy Vallado, both of San Antonio. The groom is the son of David and Marina Cantu of Sterling. The maid of honor was Christina Menchaca. Serving as best man was Greg Kendrick. The bride is an assistant property manager for Atlantic Housing. The groom is an assistant property maintenance person for Tipton Corp. The couple live in San Antonio.

Steven and Laura Buckman of Milledgeville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsay Buckman of Arlington Heights to Noah Warriner of Arlington Heights, the son of Tom and Chris Warriner of Rockton. The bride-elect is a graduate of Milledgeville High School, Northern Illinois University, with a bachelor’s degree, and Loyola University, with a master’s degree. She is a nurse practitioner at Lake Forest College. Her fiancé is a graduate of Hononegah High School and Illinois State University, with a bachelor’s degree in construction management. He is a construction manager at Morgan Harbour. The couple are planning an Oct. 21, 2016 wedding at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beloit, Wisconsin. Invitations have been sent.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Asbury Sr. of Sterling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 23, 2016, with family and friends at the couple’s home. Kenneth W. Asbury Sr. and Rebecca Dena were married Aug. 6, 1966, in Sterling. They are the parents of Kenny and Patty Asbury of Sterling; Angie and Tommy Hancock of Lugoff, South Carolina; Aaron and Sonny Asbury of Longs, South Carolina; and Lori and Brannon Hays of El Segundo, California. They have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

(Sonja) Kinn of Franklin Grove and Robert Kinn of Sterling. They have four grandchildren, Nathan (Brandy) Kinn, Joshua (Heidi) Kinn, Ben (Kelli) Kinn, and Rachel (Jim) Sheehan. They also have 13 great-grandchildren.

65th Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Don Olson Mr. and Mrs. Don Olson of Sterling celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Aug. 18, 2016. Maxine Salter and Don Olson were married Aug. 18, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, Don taught business education for 2.5 years at Granton and 2 years at Loyal high schools in Wisconsin, and Maxine worked for an accountant in Marshfield. In 1955, they moved to Sterling where Don taught at Sterling High School, and Maxine was the first secretary at Jefferson Elementary School. Don continued his education at the University of Iowa, where he earned his master’s degree. Don retired from Sterling High in 1982, after serving 28 years in the business education department. He had been working part time as the CEO of the school employees credit

union (now Select Employees Credit Union), and then devoted full time to that organization until 1992 when he retired. Maxine resigned from her secretary position at Jefferson in 1980 to devote full time to working as vice president at the credit union. She retired from there in 1993. They are the parents of two children, Jim (Vicki) Olson of Sterling and Nancy (Eric) Rasmussen of Verona, Wisconsin. They have four grandchildren, Ben (Jenny) Olson of Arlington Heights, Jami Olson of Los Angeles, and Kari Rasmussen and Scott Rasmussen of Verona, Wisconsin. They also have two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Nicolas Olson of Arlington Heights. A family get-together is planned for September to coincide with the birthdays of Jim and Nancy. Open house for 1934 graduate Gladys Osborne of 313 W. Center St. in Mount Morris will be celebrating her 100th birthday. This avid Chicago Cubs fan was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Dixon, the daughter of Fred and Louise Odenthal. Gladys graduated from Dixon High School in 1934, her class being the first to attend all 4 years in the new school. She married Hubert Osborne in 1938, and they were married for 39 years until his death in 1978. They are the parents of Ron Osborne and Trudy (Sherwood) Drumheller, the grandparents of Mark and Jason Osborne, Jay

and Troy Drumheller and Megan Drumheller Hultquist, and have numerous great- and great-greatgrandchildren. She also has a sister, Arlene Blum. An open house will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at Mount Morris Moose Lodge. Her family will be hosting the event. The omission of gifts has been requested. Congratulations Dr. Laurie (Dempsey) Wolf, the daughter of Doug and Sandy Dempsey of Dixon, has obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Arizona State University. She graduated from Dixon High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. She received her master’s degree from Arizona State University. Laurie has completed her internship in health psychology at the Boston Veterans hospital. She has been accepted into the post-doctoral study at the Boston VA. She lives in Boston with her husband, Aaron Wolf, formerly of Rock Falls.
