Lisa Apple of Bloomington, formerly of Dixon, and Doug Apple of Edmunds, Washington, formerly of Rock Falls, announce the engagement of their son, Tyler David Apple, formerly of Bloomington, to Jennifer Lauren Dix, formerly of Caseyville, the daughter of Greg and Mary Dix of Fairview Heights. The bride-elect is a graduate of Althoff Catholic High School, Truman State University with finance and psychology degrees, and South University with her Ph.D in pharmacy. Jennifer is employed by Walgreens Co. as a pharmacy manager
in Columbia, South Carolina. The groom-elect is a graduate of Bloomington High School and Purdue University, with a degree in building construction management, and is working on his MBA from Washington State University. Tyler works for Alberici as a project manager, located in St. Louis, and is on location in Miami. His grandparents are Jane Wohrley of Dixon and the late Hank Wohrley, and Dave and Doris Apple of Rock Falls. The couple plan to be married Nov. 5, 2016, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caseyville. 70th Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Eligh Barton Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Eligh J. Barton Sr. of Sterling will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 14, 2016. They were blessed with seven children, Judy (Walt) Long of Rock Falls, Linda Barton (deceased), Jerry (Barb) Barton of Rock Falls, Rick (Deb) Barton of Sterling, Eligh Barton of Dixon, Karen (Myron) Kramer of Sterling, and Shelia Bennecke of Sterling. They have 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren. There never is a quiet moment when all are gathered, as laughter and storytelling of days gone by always are treasured. No one leaves without hugs and kisses to take them on their way with an “I love
you” to follow. Their children could not be any prouder to call them their parents and teachers of life. Their love as a family has sustained them through hard times, and they have shared many memories, instilling in all of their children the importance and value of family. When asked what has sustained their marriage over the last 70 years, it was told like this. “Put God first in all things and each other (your family) secondly.” They will celebrate with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Rock Falls Community Building, with desserts being served. Reunions Henry Hinrichs Family Reunion The Henry Hinrichs family reunion was July 17, 2016, at the Polo Senior Center. More than 75 people from Princeton, Golconda, Forreston, Oregon, Mendota, La Moille, Sterling, Freeport, Leaf River, German Hills, and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, attended the noon dinner. Nancy Riesselman organized the gettogether. The next reunion will be July 16, 2017, to be hosted by the family of the late LeRoy Hinrichs.

Beck Family Reunion The John and Rosanna Beck family reunion was June 26, 2016 at Centennial Park in Coleta. Irene Nusbaum led the prayer before the potluck and ice cream were served to 28 family members. Teri Nusbaum opened the meeting and election of officers. Six marriages, 17 births, and six deaths were recorded. DuWayne Beck, treasurer, gave $2 each to the youngest, Rylynn Tabor, 56 days old, and Florence Pfundstein, the oldest in attendance. The newly-elected officers are Teri Nusbaum, president; Denise Linton, vice president; Beck, treasurer; and Sheila Zinke, secretary.
