Habben & Clardie June 13, 2015 – Rock Falls Makayla J. Habben and Aaron D. Clardie were united in marriage at 2 p.m. June 13, 2015, at Rock River Christian Center in Rock Falls. Brian Vickers officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Rick and Emily Habben of Sterling. The groom is the son of Tamme Akridge of Como and Michael Clardie of Sterling. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a Casablanca, ivory, lace wedding gown, with a cascade bouquet of sunflowers, aqua blue flowers, and ivory roses. The matron of honor was Molly Habben, sister-in-law of the bride. Serving as bridesmaids were Lauren Hackbarth, cousin of the bride; Brandi Estrada, friend of the couple; and Bette Jean Poulter, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids wore one-shoulder, aqua blue dresses with ivory lace over the top. They carried round bouquets of sunflowers and blue and ivory flowers. The best man was Isaac Weber, friend of the groom. Serving as groomsmen were Blake Hudson and Adam Dettman, both friends of the groom; and Kristian Clardie, brother of the groom.
The assistants were Mark and Marinda Ebersole, uncle and aunt of the bride; Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, and David Ebersole, cousins of the bride; and Cassandra Buyers, friend of the bride. Ushering the event were Matthew Habben, brother of the bride, and Barry Ebersole, uncle of the bride and friend of the groom. Serving as flower girl was Emma Buyers. The bride drives Campus for the University of Iowa, where she is enrolled in its paramedic program. The groom works in research and development also at the University of Iowa, and will enter graduate school in its medicine program this fall. The couple reside in Iowa City, Iowa.

Edward Fritts, the son of Fred and Margaret Fritts of Dixon, and Nancy Schultz, the daughter of John and Irene Schultz of Amboy, were married Aug. 16, 1975, at St. Patrick Church in Amboy. They are the parents of five children and nine grandchildren (all under 5 years old!). Sherry (J.W.) Catt of Bismarck, North Dakota, is a nurse practitioner and mother to grandson, James; Susan (Ronald) Fiesta of Chicago is a CPA and mother to David, Matthew and Claire; Timothy (Lauren Gretz) Fritts of Chicago is an airline pilot and father to Caroline and William; Daniel (Ellen Heaton) Fritts of
60th Anniversary All because these two people, Carolyn Bloomquist and James Hicks, fell in love, they will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Aug. 20, 2015. They have four children, Stanley (deceased), Cindy (Albert, deceased) Knight, Carolyn (Kim) Ruth, and Dean Hicks. They have 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
Chicago is a firefighter and father to Hadley, Emma and Edward; and Bradley Fritts is currently in high school. Ed and Nancy have lived in Dixon their entire married life, and are active members of St. Patrick Church. Ed enjoys his job as Dixon Township Supervisor. Nancy is always on the go working as a realtor for Heartland Realty, and helping to care for her young grandchildren as needed (often). The couple is still enjoying Newman Central Catholic events, even after 20-plus years of high school activities! To celebrate 40 years, the entire family spent a long weekend away in Galena, the first weekend of August. The group picture is from that trip.

Military reunion USS Randolph Association Reunion The USS Randolph Association CV/ CVA/CVS-15 will have its reunion Sept. 20-27, 2015, in Washington, D.C. The ship was an Essex class aircraft carrier from 1944 to 1969. During World War II, it served in the Pacific, taking part in the battles of Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and the Japanese home islands. During the Cold War, it served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean fleets. Locally, Chico Contreras and Ken Mendel served on the ship in the late 1950s and early 1960s. If a large group photo is submitted, only one can be used in the quarter-page format, one photo is recommended in the half-page format, and up to four normally can be used in the full-page format. Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement. Note: A group photo for a class reunion only can be submitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to photos@ saukvalley.com or in person.
For publication in Celebrations, class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarter-page format at no charge, with a photo allowed. Five-generation and fourgeneration photos with names, relationships, and places of residence of those pictured may be submitted for publication. Multiple photos from the same submitter will need to be on a paid basis. Generation announcements are, of course, available on a paid (custom) basis in quarter-page (one photo), halfpage (two photos), and fullpage (up to four photos) form. Other celebrations include retirements, promotions, awards, honors, baptisms, confirmations, baby’s arrival (able to contain more information than standard birth announcements, along with a photo), and other occasions. Customers may purchase a quarter-page (one photo – two if space allows), halfpage, (up to two photos) or full-page (up to four photos) paid announcement in Celebrations on a custom basis.
