Angone Jr. were married Aug. 28, 1965, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Chicago Heights, by the Rev. David Haas, Order of St. Francis Conventual. MaryLouise was attended by her sister-in-law, Adrienne Angone Olsen. Frank’s attendant was James Dooley (deceased), the groom’s best friend.

Walter and Mary Fassler will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 2, 2015, at the Holloway Center at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. All family and friends are invited to attend. Walter Fassler and Mary Ackert were married Aug. 4, 1945, in Walton. They are the parents of eight children, Theresa (Parsons), Carl, Bob, Fran, Tom, Patti (Jordan), Tony,

and Peggy (Menke). They have 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. They have lived in the Dixon area all of their lives. They are active members of St. Patrick Church. After years of farming and working as a foreman and chemist at the cement plant, Walter relaxed by carving Santas, roses, and other objects. Mary balanced feeding and caring for an active family, working as a nurse, and creating with the sewing machine.

In retirement, they have traveled to Switzerland, the Grand Canyon, and Alaska multiple times. They also are busy attending frequent family events. They still freeze corn and can pickles. Walter and Mary are excellent parents and grandparents, and are inspiring role models in a long marriage filled with faith, love, and devotion. 65th Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Robert W. Cheshier Robert and Dorothy Cheshier of Sterling will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary July 22, 2015. The 119th consecutive Spencer-Benham reunion was June 28, 2015, at Old Mill Park in Savanna. The gathering began with the Pledge of Allegiance and “God Bless America,” followed by a potluck dinner and the annual meeting. Lois Spencer received the most cherished gift as the oldest member present. She presented the baby spoon to Harper Ellyott, born in 2013, the youngest member. Doris Matuska of Blacksburg, South Carolina, traveled the farthest. The officers elected were Mark Spencer of Rock Falls, president; Jill Williams of Freeport, vice president; Lois Jacobs of Rock Falls, treasurer; Vada Waites of Galena, secretary; Cheryl Scykes of Rock Falls, assistant historian; Daniel Witt of Mount Prospect, games chairman; Pat Wurster and Joyce LaShelle, both of Thomson, raffle tables and cake walk. After the meeting, Witt led the children’s games. A raffle and cake walk also took place. The next reunion will be June 12, 2016, at the park.

The annual Scully-Dunn reunion will be Aug. 2, 2015, at the Bureau County Metro Center, 837 Park Ave. W, Princeton. The meal will begin at noon in Shoemake Hall. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass, utensils, table service, as well as family photos, albums, videos, and other family mementos they would like to share. Atherton twins turn 80 Robert L. Atherton of Morrison and Richard L. Atherton of Thomson were born to Merle and Ihla Atherton on July 10, 1935, in Thomson. Bob and Dick both served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bob and his wife, Margo, have two children, Kelly Vegter and Robert C. Atherton. They have three grandchildren.

Bob retired, after 38 years, from General Electric. Dick is married to Beverly, and they have four daughters, Kim Drury, Kathy Raymond, Karyn Mabeus, and Kori Atherton; and one son, Kevin, deceased. They have eight grandchildren. Dick was a driver for Truck Transporters and Miller Transporters. He retired in 2014.

Donald E. Dirks was born July 2, 1935, in Sterling, to Lester and Florence (Oncken) Dirks. He married Leona Kurk in 1958, at First Congregational Church in Sterling. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. He operated a dairy and hog farm for 20 years, and retired from Illinois Forge after 28 years. They have five children, Gary (Linda) Dirks of Prophetstown;

John (Angel) Dirks of Clarksville, Tennessee; Julie (William) Oswald of Scotland; David (Rebecca) Dirks of Clarksville, Tennessee; and Chris (Greg) Gallentine of Sterling.
