Arthur A. Deem will celebrate his 90th birthday June 30, 2014. A family gathering is planned. Art was born June 30, 1924, and is a lifelong resident of Rock Falls. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas, and also served during the Korean War. Arthur was employed at the former RB&W for 44 years. He mar-
ried Ruth Corl, and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He has two sons, David of Machesney Park and Craig of Rock Falls; two grandchildren, Clark Deem and Jennifer Pautsch; and two great-grandsons, Keaton and Karson Pautsch. She enjoys life by being active in St. Andrew Church, attending
games and swim meets of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, volunteering for the Red Cross and giving blood, gardening, and many other activities. The 87th annual Humphrey Reunion was June 8, 2014, at Morrison-Rockwood State Park. Thirty-three members of 12 families attended a carry-in dinner. They came from Albany, Erie, Morrison, Peru, Prophetstown, Rock Falls, Sterling, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Terra Haute, Indiana. Brad Bruins and Donna Young cochaired the event. A short business meeting included a reading of the Humphrey family poem composed by Raymond Humphrey and read by Linda Jensen. Carol Humphrey led group singing. Dale Humphrey was honored as the oldest adult present, and Elley Weidel was the youngest to attend. Eight births, six marriages, and seven deaths were reported. The next reunion will be at 12:30 p.m., June 14, 2015, at the Lake View Shelter of Morrison-Rockwood State Park, with Doug Dykema chairing the event.
Hood, Texas, Shelby will receive her Sgt. E-5 promotion. Shelby was back in Lyndon on or about May 23, 2014, for a 2-week leave, and then returned to Fort Hood, Texas. As parents of a U.S. Army soldier, we are very proud of Shelby and all our troops serving now and in past wars. God bless America and our troops and families.
Bollman-Harden Family Reunion The annual Bollman-Harden family reunion will be Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Bollman cabin, 486 Rock Island Road, Dixon. Watch for the sign.
